I donāt think youāve ever known a woman like me.
By far the best part of Assassinās Creed III is the fact that you can chase down the founding fathers and just harangue them, just bully those slaveowning nerds and shove them around a bit.Ā
Here we see the guy on the $1 bill kneeling and crying because a stronger boy pushed him
George Washington didnāt own slaves. He inherited slaves but set them free because he saw slavery as inhuman.
#DO YOUR FUCKING RESEARCHĀ #AND PAY ATTENTION IN HISTORY CLASS YOU DUNCE BUCKETS
George Washington inherited some of his slaves from Marthaās first marriage, but owned over 100 of his own by the end of his life. He did not give any indication during his life that he saw slavery as inhuman and, in fact, was pretty enthusiastic about the practice of holding humans prisoner and putting them to work in a forced labor camp.Ā
When he needed new slaves, he known to ask forĀ āSix or more n*****s⦠males⦠well-grown lads⦠healthy, and none of them addicted to running away.ā (Letter from George Washington to John Francis Mercer, November 6 1786)
There was also his practice of dealing withĀ āmisbehavingā orĀ āunrulyā slaves was to ship them off to an even more brutal plantation in the Caribbean in exchange for various luxury foods and drinks. Like in 1766, when he sent anĀ āunrulyā slave named Tom to the West Indies in exchange for barrels of molasses and rum, or then again in 1791 when he shipped of an unnamedĀ āmisbehaving fellowā in exchange forĀ āone pipe and quarter cask of wine.āĀ
Now, youāre partially right on one thing. He did set his slaves free. In his will. You know, when he was dead and therefore done exploiting them. Couldnāt be bothered to do it while he was alive and stood to lose something from, you know, releasing the inmates of his forced labor camp, but he did technically allow SOME OF them to go free when he was no longer alive to enjoy the fruits of their labor.Ā
You might be thinking of Ben Franklin, who actually did set his slaves free and take up the cause of abolition because he thought the institution of slavery was abhorrent, but this was also something that made him incredibly unpopular, especially with enthusiastic slaveowners like Washington and Jefferson.Ā
Oh, and in reference to your tags. Temple University, class of 2014. Bachelorās in History. During my years there, I specialized in American history and specifically built my curriculum to cover race relations in detail. The subject area of my capstone class was the American Revolution. If youāre going to accuse someone of skimping on research and not paying attention in history class, maybe donāt pick someone who just came off of five years of history class culminating in a final intensive course on this exact subject when you couldnāt even be bothered to google it.Ā
A brief guide to Daken Akihiro, the Dark Wolverine! Presented by Comic Books United

Who is Duke Thomas?
If youāve read Batman Rebirth #1, you probably know at this point Bruce has pretty much officially adopted Duke Thomas into the Batfam.
But because of alienation many fans feel from the Nu52, a lot of people who havenāt read many recent comics are wondering just who Duke Thomas is. So Iām going to try and answer that the best I can.Ā
Back in Zero Year, when Bruce was first starting out as Batman, the Riddler challenged the city to get smart or die by ānatural selectionā. So Duke started swatting up to, you know, not die. The Thomas family also rescued a unconscious Bruce Wayne when a sudden hurricane hit Gotham around the same time as Zero Year. Bruce thanks Duke, then heās off to tackle the Riddler.
Look at how cute baby Duke is.Ā
Anyways, Duke disappears for a little while then reappears during Endgame. The Joker having figured out Batmanās true identity and his connection to Duke, kidnaps Duke and his family and plans to recreate the Wayne murders in front of Bruce and Duke by using Dukeās parents. Itās all pretty grisly stuff.Ā
Bruce manages to rescue Duke from the Joker, but Dukeās parents succumb to the mind controlling gas of the Joker.Ā
After that, Iām not sure what happens to Dukeās parents. I think they were missing at first, then get found but there is still no cure for the Joker gas, so I think they still arenāt well enough to look after Duke which explains why heās being shuffled around foster homes in We Are Robin #1.
Heās also a massive nerd.
Throughout the We Are Robin run, though short-lived, we see Duke grow from an immature, unruly teenager into a mature leader of his little gang of Robins. (Although there is still some sassiness left in this boy yet.) We also see the significance of Duke as a leader and a kind ofĀ āstand-outā Robin and the bond that begins to form between him and some of the Batfam members, particularly Dick and Damian, in the crossover event, Robin War.Ā
Leadership:
The sass:
And finally the bonding. Letās start with Damian first. Basically Robin War is all about the repercussions of reckless Robins that leads to the police arresting all kids associated with Robin in any way, as simple as wearing the Robin logo or even wearing red shoes like in the above panel. But of course, nothing is ever that simple in Gotham and the Court of Owls is secretly pulling the strings in an attempt to draw Dick out and have him join the club.Ā
So anyways, Duke and Damianās first meeting goes down exactly how you would expect it to. Damian beats Duke (and his friends) up.Ā

Aight. I like this new kid.

Even superheroes need a break. #Casual #batgirl #nightwing
To continue on my previous post, but more specifically about cosplaying; Today I cosplayed Nightwing. For those that don't know, Nightwing is basically who Robin becomes when he becomes an adult. I made my Nightwing suit and I'm extremely proud of it. Even though it does not look EXACTLY like any version of Nightwing in the comics, it's kinda just my own take on it and I think it suits me. People still come up to me and tell me how excited they are to see Nightwing and how great I look. Today I did nothing but walk the floors and take easily a hundred photos with people that would stop and ask me. I had people asking for hugs even. When children come up to and say things like, "um, excuse me, Nightwing? Can I have a picture with you?" And seeing just how happy they are about it when I tell them them of course they can and tell them to strike a pose with me... They just light up. It's beautiful. It's honestly one of the best feelings I've experienced. It's such a simple thing that I do that brings so much happiness and that means so much to me. (at Indiana Comic Con)
Comic cons tend to have this stigma that they're lame, only for people who read comics, only for super nerdy people single dudes, etc. This couldn't be further from the truth. They're for any one of any age. They're for anyone that likes TV shows, movies, video games, board games, superheros, anime, science fiction, books, toys, cosplay, collectibles, amazingly beautiful original artwork, crafts, and yes comic books. They give you opportunities to meet the actors and artists that you love. There are so many activities scheduled through the weekend. I must say though that the hands down best thing about comic cons is the community. I just spent 2 days surrounded by thousands of people and I never witnessed a single person get shitty or negative in any way. Everyone is so nice and helpful to each other. Everyone there is just trying to enjoy what they love while surrounded by other people enjoying what they love. There's no political BS. There's no hate. There's no rules. Just love and passion. I strongly encourage all of you to check one out sometime. (at Indiana Comic Con)
