i really hate the discourse and back and forth of “jesus was Palestinian” and “no, he was a Jew!” because it’s just a distraction in the grand scheme of things. Like obviously the two aren’t mutually exclusive. But it also points to something a bit more insidious and that’s denying Palestinian Christians their cultural and religious connection to Jesus. Especially because we know there are Palestinian Christians (and Muslims even) descended from ppl who lived in Palestine during 1st century (and beforehand) and I feel like a lot of the strong reaction to saying Jesus was Palestinian is about denying Palestinians that connection and it’s just really ignorant bc there are also Palestinian Christian communities in Palestine that aren’t Arab either

My sister's Catholic high school had a whole situation where a student openly told my Palestinian sister that it was "good" that our family "was being killed, because that means the Second Coming will happen."

That isn't a Catholic teaching. But so many Christians kept arguing that the state of Israel is imperitive to the return of Jesus, and that the state of Israel's existence took precedent over Palestine's existence, that the young high schooler walked away with that take-away. That's horrifying.

When I told someone that I hated the idea that Europe was the birthplace of theology, they shrugged. But it kind of is, they said. At least, for Christianity. And that's how I learned that they thought Palestine was in Europe.

There's such a strong push to reject Palestinian Christians that people are actively rewriting the history and the basic principles of Christianity. That's how deeply anti-Palestinian hate goes. That should terrify you.

I am Amani, and as you know, my sister Eman and I are currently living in the besieged Gaza Strip. We are the only ones left from our family. We live with our children in a tent, experiencing the worst living conditions. We are still suffering and struggling to provide water, food, and other necessities. Basic living conditions are not available, and we are living in extremely difficult circumstances.

Our homes have been completely destroyed, and our future shattered. We no longer have a house or anything we own. We have been displaced four times, facing exhaustion and severe illness, including gastroenteritis, high fever, cough, and amoebiasis due to contaminated water and malnutrition. Despite our efforts, we struggled to find the necessary medicine. Here we are now in the Mawasi Khan Younis area, where the intense ongoing bombardment continues.

My brother created this donation link to help us reach safety and save our lives and our children’s lives. Here in Gaza, we find nothing, and the truth is we are fighting to survive. We appeal to the entire world to move to a safe place where we can rebuild our lives in peace. Travel costs are high, but it is the best solution.
