• You're bleeding through your shirt. Don't tell me you're fine.
• How long have you been walking around like this?
• I'm not going to hurt you. I just need to see how bad it is.
• You should have told me the moment it happened.
• Hold still. I mean it. Hold still.
• This is going to sting. Bite down on something if you need to.
• You've been hiding this for days, haven't you.
• Who did this to you? I need you to tell me who did this.
• Stop being brave for five minutes and let me help you.
• I've seen worse. I've also seen men die from worse, so let me look at it.
• I found the bandages in the trash. You want to explain that?
• Don't you dare apologize for bleeding on me.
• Your hands are cold. That's not a good sign.
• I'm not angry. I'm terrified. There's a difference.
• Come into the light. Let me see your face.
• You should have stitches. I know you won't go. So sit down and let me do what I can.
• You're white as a sheet and still trying to stand up straight.
• I could hear you in the night. I didn't say anything. I'm saying something now.
• Don't look at it if it makes it worse. Just look at me.
• It's not weak to let someone see you hurt.
• You came to me. Of all the places you could have gone, you came here.
• Lay back. You're not getting up until the color comes back to your face.
• I'm not going to ask what happened. Not yet. First let me fix what I can.
• You've been holding your left side since you walked in. Think I didn't notice?
• This is going to leave a mark. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry.
• I've patched up a lot of people in my time. None of them scared me like you do right now.
• You could have died out there. You could have died and I would have been the last person to know.
• Sleep. I'll be right here when you wake up. I'm not going anywhere.
• You're allowed to make a sound. Nobody's watching.
• I need you to stay awake for me. Just a little longer. Talk to me.
• You're lucky the cut wasn't deeper.
• Stop apologizing for needing help. Stop it right now.
• I've seen what it looks like when someone's used to this. That's what scares me most about you.
• Tell me your name. Tell me what day it is. Stay with me.
• You're going to be alright. I promise you.
• You went back out there after this? With this?
• Nobody takes care of you, do they? That ends tonight.
• I've been gentle with you. I need you to be honest with me in return.
• You're safe now. You're here, you're safe, and I've got you. Just breathe.
RAVEN CRY ON THE RIVER.
benjicot blackwood & his late father, samwell.
bc i don't care about whatever made up characters with different names the show tried to make of them because why are we inventing blackwoods when we had them right there in the book? lmao.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀꧁ ۫ ׅ 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝐔𝐍𝐅𝐎𝐋𝐃𝐄𝐃 𝐀𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐀𝐌𝐄 𝐒𝐋𝐎𝐖 𝐃𝐑𝐀𝐆 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐘 𝐔𝐒𝐔𝐀𝐋𝐋𝐘 𝐃𝐈𝐃, four walls of a too large, too empty, home sitting quietly around him, too quietly, as he laid upon the surface of his bed, heavy-lidded eyes facing the ceiling through slow-drifting clouds of grey-white smoke surrounding him that had filled the closed space steadily over the past hours, past days even, unable to escape save for through a small crack in one of the large windows allowing in the comfortably chilly breezes from outside, catching on the fabric of dark grey curtains and sifting through half-shut blinds that shrouded the walls of the room with dark stripes of shade, though it was but afternoon and stubborn traces of sunlight still peaked through the dark clouds forming in the sky outside, announcing further spells of heavy rain that, this time, surely would bring the rivers and creeks making up a great portion of the riverlands to spill over the banks and flood the fields. he was burning through his weed too quickly, he knew it, and tuesday night, and with it another trip to driftmark to acquire more from the velaryon heir, could hardly come fast enough, but he could not bring himself to care. ever since he'd seen aeron back across the ever-moving boundary separating their lands, the two of them concealed by the muted blue-grey light of early morning to avoid being spotted, days ago now, the emptiness within had felt much more prominent again; raventree hall had felt as though it had caved in on him the moment he had returned home and found himself utterly alone within it yet again, the silence around him uncomfortable, nearly suffocating, even more so when weed had, as expected, ventured off into the trees to seek his next long adventure the very same evening, the comfort he'd brought curling up against ben's chest and existing within the stillness with him but short-lived. drinking and smoking with the guys had briefly crossed ben's mind then, but quickly been dismissed — he hadn't felt like it, less for the aches of the painful injuries acquired on his last trip to the familiar island he'd been ignoring for far too long, at last coming through, and more so because he did not want them in the space where aeron bracken still had been but moments prior, as though they would somehow sniff out the traces of his presence and poke fun at him for his scent alone, not knowing how much it got under ben's skin. and if they could, perhaps his father could, too, wherever he dwelled now, wherever the old gods had led him after his passing, more likely than not making him a part of the ancient, dead weirwood that sat beyond the stone facades of the old castle building, close still, yet undeniably gone, and surely nothing if not disappointed in the man his beloved only child had grown into.
all too quickly, the world around ben had begun to tilt, and with the silence within the hollow home feeling so loud, thoughts had rapidly become even louder, unbearably so, and so ben had taken to dealing with it in the only way he knew how; smoking. he did not know for many hours he'd been laying here by now, unmoving, save for when it was necessary, avoiding glancing at the barred rooms that no one had entered since samwell blackwood had been alive, and the pictures lining the hallways, whenever he'd been forced to step from his room to seek the bathroom or fetch food when the sensation of hunger clawing at his gut had become too prominent to ignore any longer, caught in the lasting, blissful daze that made the world around him feel as though it wasn't real, that made him feel as though he was draped in a blanket of thick, knitted wool and merely dreaming, drifting in and out of sleep as he burned through the last of his stash, texts from his friends, or aeron, on occasion coming through, but it had been hours since his phone had last gone off now, and he was just about to drift off into another restless, hazy state of sleep that he, no doubt, would wake from disoriented and soaked in sweat, when he heard it buzz against the pillow next to his head, bleary eyes shifting its away as a hand was extended to grab it and bring it closer to his face, assuming luke was texting the time as he usually did the night before a meeting.
even as the nickname he'd given aeron appeared on the screen instead, along with an image attachment, he did not think much of it, half-expecting that stupid border stone to be staring back at him when he clicked on it ( and, in part, wanting it to, for it would give him an excuse to head outside, to start another fight with the brackens, seek the thrill of it, which always felt better when he was high beyond reason, see aeron again ), not . . . this.
fuck.
he couldn't take his eyes away from the picture lighting up his screen, thumb lingering upon the surface, preventing the display from automatically turning off due to lack of use, his mouth, for once, feeling dry for reasons other than one of the more unpleasant side effects of smoking so much at once. even so, the joint was placed between his lips again, kept in place by sharp incisor teeth as he slowly inhaled another mouthful of it, his other hand dropping to join the other against his phone, tapping the screen, then pinching it to zoom in and out of the picture. perhaps it spoke volumes about his own yearning for aeron how he drank in the sight, how he took in every single detail of his body the image offered ( his gorgeous face, naturally, absent from it, existing just out of frame where the picture cut off ), as though he did not know all of that already, as if he had not yet seen, and touched, every inch of aeron when they'd been together two days prior. barely able to drag his gaze away, ben began to type his response, breathing in more smoke with every shallow inhale through clenched teeth holding the joint in place, his head feeling as if it was spinning, a sensation he knew could not be blamed on the familiar effects of coconut dreams.

with a final puff of the addictive substance, the joint was removed from his lips and put carefully out in the comical leaf-shaped ashtray he kept next to his bed to be finished later; fingers then seizing his phone again, returning to the picture as a hand moved down, across his stomach and past the waistband of black sweatpants, palming himself slowly with his gaze never leaving the image, breath catching in his throat at the ripples of pleasure extending from his groin to his abdomen as he felt his dick stir awake through the fabric, grow fuller in his hand. only with some reluctance, he swiped down to close the chat and opened the camera app several moments later, angling his phone lower, smoothing down the soft cotton fabric against his thigh with the flat of his hand, the tattoo upon his middle finger nearly invisible from the dark bruises coating his knuckles, the thick outline of his sizeable, and rapidly hardening, length becoming more prominent through the material as he stretched it taut against his leg, quickly snapping a picture and nearly dropping the phone against his chest as he fumbled to send it with only one hand whilst the other remained south, fingers draping around the firm mass of himself and stroking idly.
