âWell, youâre already here, what is it?â
âOh, uh, see, well now Iâm a little nervous,â Phoenix said. âItâs just, I get headaches sometimes and I donât know if theyâre normal ones or like.. power-related ones..â
âIm sorry- its very much after hours. Is there something you need?â he asked, looking up at the other from the work on his desk.
Phoenix frowned taking a few steps away from the door frame. âI.. It can probably wait until tomorrow, you know, if you canât talk right now..â
âThatâs odd. So many things are odd here.â She sighed. âAre there any other rules like this?â
âI mean, theyâre not really rules,â he explained. âYou can have âbreakfast foodsâ whenever you want. And if you want a burger in the morning, its your call.â
âThereâs..special food for the morning?â River frowned deeply. âWhy? Whatâs the difference between morning food and afternoon food?â
âWell, certain foods you have in the morning, because thatâs what theyâre for,â he shrugged. âThatâs just kind of how things are.â
psioniclogan:
âPhoenix, I dont want to be here any longer than I have to beâ
He took a deep breath and nodded. âOkay. Okay. Then weâll go.â
psioniclogan:
âIm sure they have been, Phoenixâ
âHow are you so sure?â he countered. âMaybe you should stay.. another day? Maybe two. Just to be sure.â
âWell, the doctor says im doing just fine so I think that means I get to leave soonâ
"Howâre they so sure?â he asked. âHave they be thorough enough?â
âYeah, thanks for your sentimentsâ
âI--um--youâre welcome,â he said before rushing out.
âListen buddy, thereâs no if ands or buts about it, youâre fourteen now and weâre celebratingâ
âBut Logan, it already was my birthday, itâs past,â he said, smiling at her.
Griffin Gluck
River frowned. âYou keep track of the day you were born? Humans are..odd.â She wasnât quite sure what he meant by a breakfast food. Wasnât all food just food? But she didnât want to ask more questions.
He nodded. âYeah, itâs kind of an important date,â he told her. âLike, itâs as if you were a little gift to the world on that day, so then every year you have a little celebration.â Phoenix smiled. âSo then I made myself pancakes after i woke up, because thatâs when you eat them--in the morning. Because thatâs what breakfast food is--morning food. And i celebrated, all alone. Because my birthdayâs important, but not as important as Loganâs birthday.â
aadhirakhatri:
âFuck- shit im late!â
âThat doesnât sound good,â he said. âIâm sorry youâre late.â
psioniclogan:
âListen kid, we are going to celebrate your birthday properlyâ
âLogan, it was almost a lifetime ago, itâs not that big a deal.â

River frowned, resting her chin in the palm of her hand. âWhatâs a birth-day? Or a pancake?â
âA birthday is the celebration of the day you were born,â he explained. âAnd pancakes are breakfast foods.â
aadhirakhatri:
âWhat time is it?â she questioned
Phoenix quickly checked his watch. â5 past 2,â he told her.
âOkay, hey, relax--I did celebrate my birthday. I had lots of pancakes I made all by myself.â
âIf youâre here to tell me to get up, you can leave now-â
âOh--oh! Wrong room,â he frowned. âIâm so sorry, Iâll get going.â
