“That I can do,” he said with a grin. If he could get out of making these sort of decisions, he would do his best to do just that. He kissed the tip of her nose, laughing. “If you were doing that, you’d see how poor of a decision letting me choose anything for our place.”

“I will let you pick whatever you want for that surely to be brooding office of yours,” she said. Rivkah wasn’t planning on taking over all of it. “I told my parents to stay away while we’re getting settled, so there won’t be any sort of maternal or paternal interruptions. Though I know that they very much want to be butting in and checking up on things. They worry a little too much.”

“I’d expect nothing less,” he all but chirped. Her enthusiasm was infectious. “I’d much rather you do it because I’ll admit I have no idea what I’m doing.” He leaned his forehead against hers, a smile playing on his lips. He’d be forever grateful, too, because whatever she decided to do would be presentable to his parents, who deserved nothing but the best.

“That’s why you have me. You just have to do as you’re told with it all and we’ll get it done in no time.” Rivkah was used to taking the lead after all. She was teaching small children for a living so it came naturally. She had to give them some kind of structure. She let her forehead rest against his. “I sound like I’m going to be giving you construction paper and safety scissors. Sorry about that.”

“Must have slipped my mind,” he said with a shrug, but he flashed her a smile all the same. He took step forward and caressed her cheek before closing the gap to kiss her lips gently. “Welcome home, mi alma.”

Rivkah grinned. She had missed the devil. She leaned lightly into his kiss. It’d been far too long. “It’s good to be home with you. You know that I’m going to have us paint and re-do this place in the coming months, right? I can’t wait to get it all put together.”

“I don’t think I did anything that aggravating is the thing,” he said with a frown. He racked through their encounter and couldn’t think of anything too off the wall. He probably did. “Either way, I’m relieved for you to be here finally.”

“In her defense you can be perfectly maddening,” she said affectionately. “Now, are you just going to stand there and not kiss me and welcome me to our new home?”

“Of course not,” Nico replied in mock offense. “Not intentionally. My mere existence seems to torture her, though.”

“I’m sure you’ve not helped matters though. That’s your nature. You stoke,” she said matter-of-factly. She loved him but she was always realistic about his nature. “You can worry about driving her insane later because I have finally arrived at long last to keep that sort of behavior at bay.”
