So, I wanted to tell you something ! You may know I’m really busy since I came back to school this august, and yep, this is a tough year, and I really work hard. But I still think about DBH a lot and as soon as I have some free time, I make stories and draw comics. I have another mostly Hankcon AU coming after this comic, and yesterday I had a mind-blowing idea ! I’ll tell you more soon. Actually I’ll post another part of “The greatest of these” asap !

Now THIS is the Connor discourse I like to see! This is great!

I personally found him ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING as a concept and character until it was absolutely clear he was gonna deviate. 

Unpopular opinion, I know, but I didn’t even really like playing his route at first tbh because I found him scary and I didn’t enjoy hunting down androids who I was already completely convinced were people. (I do love him now to be clear, and I was ALL IN once he deviated :D)

And I wish, I WISH the game would have gone into the big tech aspect of it instead of just saying “La dee dah, CyberLife evil because androids are people!” Yes, that’s true, but CyberLife is evil and dangerous for a lot of other reasons as well! At least TOUCH on those!

And the implications of Connor specifically as a concept were largely skirted as mentioned above. Unless it was meant to be subtext, but that doesn’t really track with the way game handles its other main themes- namely by hitting us in the face with them in an almost obnoxious way. 

As for the way the DPD treats him, it’s all “They took our jobs!” which is just another buzz statement. There’s almost no distrust on the grounds of surveillance and manipulation- of a corporation in the midst of a police precinct! That stinks of corruption!

Gavin is an asshole, that’s what he’s supposed to be narratively, but the game could have at least made his reasons for being an asshole interesting and a bit nuanced.

God I wish the game had gone into this sort of perspective instead of ramming the race analogies into our heads with an iron rod.

(To be clear, I say all of this as someone who loved the game. There are just certain parts that are really frustrating)

On the one hand I would love to believe that if tomorrow Amazon released a new line of robots designed to help keep the peace and mimic humans to gain their trust. That we would all be pretty pissed about it.

On the other hand people already defend their alexas. So I can imagine how those people might act if their alexa looked and acted like a person.
