Okay more pregnant Ilya thoughts because I love him so much
Towards the end of the second trimester, Ilya starts feeling uncomfortable literally all the time and Shane learns that the only thing that offers any kind of relief is a nice long bath. So one day Ilya gets home from running errands (he insists because he's going crazy just at home all the time), to find that Shane's run him a bubble bath. There's an ice-cold coke on the bath caddy, several bowls of Ilya's favourite snacks, and an iPad with The Fast and the Furious ready to go. Ilya is so touched and overwhelmed with how much he loves him, that he doesn't even have it in him to tell Shane he's being boring when he starts reminding him not to have the bath too hot. He just lies in the bath, enjoying his favourite snacks, and feeling a bit of relief for the first time all day.
Ilya still works out, but he can't go as hard with it as he usually does, so sometimes after he's reached his limit, he stays in the gym and watches Shane work out instead. Shane loves having an audience, especially this audience, so he always makes a huge show of it, with the result that they've now made out against or fucked on almost every piece of equipment.
Shane has the hospital bags packed months before the baby is due. There's one in the house right by the front door, one in each of their cars, and one at his parents' house. He's not taking any chances.
Ilya absolutely loves using the "eating for two" and "the baby is craving this" excuses to get as much of whatever he wants. "No, My Shane, you don't understand. It's the baby who wants this McDonald's. Me? I could take or leave. But she is insisting and she's the boss. And we must supersize if I'm eating for two."
Shane's favourite thing is to lie with his head in Ilya's lap and talk to the baby about his day, or tell stories from his past, or give the baby commentary on the hockey game that's on. Their baby girl always goes crazy whenever Shane speaks, and Shane loves resting his cheek on Ilya's belly to feel her moving around and kicking. Sometimes he'll get real quiet and when Ilya asks if he's okay, Shane will reply, voice shaky, something along the lines of, "I just can't believe she's real and that we're going to get to meet her soon."
Both of them realise at a certain point that they can use Ilya's belly as a shelf or table to rest things on. Ilya says that they should call their baby 'Tish', and when Shane asks why, Ilya gets that mischievous grin on his face. "Oh I just remember from my high school German that it means table." Shane rolls his eyes and threatens to divorce him, but also kisses him stupid about it because he loves Ilya's ridiculous dad jokes. Especially now that they're actual dad jokes.
