Watching dancers grow and become better and better at their art always inspired Somin. She knows she isn’t the only one to feel this, because even Kwan has that same emotion at times. Eventually the student becomes so powerful and skilled in a way that the others start looking up to them, wondering how they could excel like them. After two years, Yein had become one of those students handpicked to become a teacher.
Somin walks into the building, and there’s already a crowd of people walking in and out of Studio D. She usually doesn’t come in at this time on a Tuesday night, mostly because she’s been in and out a lot, and there hasn’t been an event done by the studio in the past couple of years since she had left the studio. Kwan had made the recommendation to hold off while she eased back into the studio life, and the addition of her overseas classes to her plate. Dahae’s at the reception tonight, and Somin approaches her, “Hey, who’s teaching tonight?”
“Oh, it’s the new teacher, Yein! Have you met her?”
Somin blinks for a moment. “Yein?”
“She used to be a student with Kwan-Oppa’s Freestyle class. She’s teaching the new High in Heels class.”
“Ohh…” Somin cranes her head, wondering if they’ve just finished or if there’s any chance of her being able to see the new teacher. Maybe she can put a face to a name, because there’s so many students in each class… She ends up stepping a little closer to the door, looking quite odd because her actions screamed that she’s looking for someone.
yein stands at the top of studio d with her hands on her hips and platform - soled and heeled boots on her feet, happy with a class well done. even though she hasn’t been teaching very long, she knows how to command a room. if things get too unruly, she’ll break out a whistle or something, but nothing’s been that bad enough to warrant that yet. she doesn’t think it’ll get there either.
students are filing out one by one, or two by two. there’s even a couple of groups forming already. that makes yein smile. they’re pretty, she thinks, looking at one gaggle of girls. they remind her of her old friends, back in london. she scans the room as people start to leave, not looking at faces, but at the feet. nobody had tried to attend her class in flats yet. good for them. if they did, they’d have to go.
( in theory, anyways. yein’s been feeling soft lately. she doesn’t know if she would have the heart to kick someone out in her current state of being. )
one pair of shoes, stood halfway in the doorway, halfway in the corridor, catches her attention. she looks up and finds features that she vaguely recognizes. yein waves to her.
“are you looking for someone?”
