sanghyuk isn’t a good liar– or a fibber. he wears his emotions proudly on his face– and even his fakest of smiles look awkward and strange on his face. his voice sounds too happy, too upbeat for talking about a movie feature. his lips twitch at the other’s reaction, nodding his head with a hum. “yep!” he pops his lip on the p, jaw tense as he breathes out sharply through his nose. “half off everything– just to promote this…great premiere! it’ll be fun. you should definitely come!” no. you shouldn’t. but sanghyuk can’t say that.
the questions come, and the smile slips off of his face to be replaced with a look of surprise and curiosity. his mouth parts, a dumb expression making home as he attempts to slowly gather his thoughts. “uh,” his tongue swipes over his lips, head slowly nodding. “yeah. you get a limit though. two free movies every month and everything past that is thirty percent off.” he scratches his cheek and shifts, tongue prodding against his cheek. “well– uh,”
oh god. all he really wants to do is tell the kid no don’t do it, save yourself. he swallows, eyes rolling upwards to the sky in thought. his shoulders shrug in response. “do you want honesty? because dealing with customers is never fun. but it’s…alright i guess. my coworkers make it fun.” shifting, his arms cross, hand reaching up from their position to fix the fringe in front of his eyes. “no job is fun, in my own opinion. you pay for the food and drinks too– but they’re discounted. gotta make money somehow, right?” sanghyuk manages a small smile at that.
the hesitation in this guy’s voice, makes him suspicious. really that bad? well apparently it is, only two free movies and you had to pay for the soda. chanhyuk is more than disappointed, if the soda isn’t free what’s the point of even working there? “a limit huh? but hey at least you like your co workers!” being adult was tough, limits in high school they tell you, you’re infinite then you get out and you’re normal again. you’re no longer a prodigy, or special, the young man was thinking much too hard about a job at a movie theater. “customers are crazy. i can only imagine someone freaking out over butter on popcorn, i like movies a lot so i considered a job here.” that’s not a lie, chanhyuk was an amateur director and if he wasn't so engrossed in music he’d probably study film more.
“money is nice, right?” chanhyuk scratches the back of his neck, “since i’m a fan of honesty-- is the movie premier gonna be cool? i’ve never been to opening night of any show before.” mostly because picked and chose what movies they were going to see, and when naturally being parents. his friends went to see avengers opening night but he wasn’t allowed to go. violence was bad, but church wasn’t! “uh what’s your name hyung, so i can be sure to cause a ruckus when you’re there.” chanhyuk chuckles looking for a nametag, on the older boy.
