nyc diaries
July, 2014.
When i arrived in NY, I didn’t know I was going to meet no resistance to my stay in the city. Eric had warned me that the people I was going to be in touch were extremely nice, more like the parental type than a foreign family aggregating a new temporary member to their group. Needless to say I smirked and rolled my eyes because honestly after all this time he had to use that kind of analogy to explain stuff around?
But he was definitely right and the family that accepted me temporarily is definitely nice, certainly surprised me. the fact that they were not Asians also made things a little awkward at first because I was pretty sure they were just going to…I don’t know what I thought. But I was told they were used to that, have students from other countries that went to ny to study for a couple of months. Right now im sharing the house with four other people – the parents and their kids (the guy is older than me by two years while the girl is just my age) and tomorrow is going to be my first official meeting with the counseling group, to talk about all my problems.
I mean…it’s tiring already and im scared at the same time. I mean, I know my problems, I know what I am and what I want to do but I’m not sure if I’m ready to talk out loud about them. I mean…I even if those people don’t know me it’s still odd to open up like that in front of everyone. Eric says I don’t have to speak unless I want to but wouldn’t it be even more awkward if I don’t?
I really don’t know what to do right now. I should just roll over and try to sleep, it’s the best thing I’ve done since I got here. It’s surprising how well I was able to sleep after I left Seoul. I thought I was going to find the change weird but on the contrary, it was extremely relaxing and…good. Yes, that a good word to define it. just now I remembered I cant sleep early but not because we have rules but because Jacob and Heather just invited me to this movie session in Central Park. they promised it’s going to be great since lots of people do that in ny – deep down I know it’s going to be great, yes. I’ll post pictures later.
‘till next time.
Ps: day one of that project.
Ps2: I miss him.

nyc diaries
New York still looked the same, the same buildings, the same weather, the same smell. To be walking unnoticed in the middle of the foreign faces that only glanced at her for a few seconds because she looked foreign to them, only to be ignored in the following minute because they had other stuff, like their own business to take care was kind of comforting but as Suzy made her way into the building she once visited, a cup of bubble tea in one hand, she couldn’t help but feel nervous.
Once more she was back in the States to take care of business she didn’t want to. She was there because suddenly everything seemed so overwhelming she didn’t know what to do. It didn’t matter how closer she got to people and how much these people seemed to love her but a big part of her life was suddenly gone.
Suzy was so sure her mother would live enough to see her becoming a famous singer. she pursued the dream of becoming an idol not only because she knew she was talented and because she loved it, but also because her mother was against it. every time she thought about giving up, her mother’s voice was there, telling she wasn’t good enough and she found the strength to prove her wrong. But now the woman was gone and so was Suzy, she was lost. Most of the things didn’t matter to her so everything seemed pointless, and she reached the bottom.
Her father was the first to notice because it didn’t matter that she didn’t live with him anymore, he would always sense whenever she was in trouble so he didn’t even wait for her to ask for something, for the help call. He booked a flight for her, practically forcing her to be there for the longest she needed, with the promise to only return when she felt okay with everything – including herself.
It was hard to be there all alone again and it had been three weeks when she finally called her counselor, saying she was in town and needed his help. For a moment she wasn’t sure she would want to see the look of disappointment in his eyes but then she remembered his words saying everyone was entitled to fall, that wasn’t bad. What was bad was when someone couldn’t find the will to stand up and crawl their way back from the bottom.
And when she knocked on his door, his warm smile was proof he wasn’t lying when he said those words. And perhaps she would find her way back. With no regrets anymore.

[/a familiar building comes into his view, familiar but not completely intimate to his memory. the time is a little past midnight. if he were responsible, he would be home instead, catching whatever sleep he could get because the next day would be a full schedule. but here he was instead, heading into this building. and he steps up the steps, riding the lift up as he rubs his eyes with the back of one hand, as if trying to erase any haggardness. the lift dings, and he steps out, stopping before a door to press the doorbell. bending down slightly, he peers into the small camera that streams him to whoever is inside, and, knowing she can see him, he leans close, his deep eyes blinking, his thin lips curved into a smile]
{ the doorbell ringing had been right on time as she looked up at the alarm clock, noticing it was past midnight just like jonghyun said; she could try to avoid, but it would be a pointless fight, to ignore the butterflies in her stomach as she walked to the door, looking behind her and seeing the small coffee table in the middle of the living room already set with comfort food for them - she didn't know exactly what to cook since he's now a trainee and they should keep up with their weight so she figured omelets plus some fried rice would do some good. again she was thinking about food when she should be thinking about him and only that made her cheeks get a little warm, she missed him, there was no denying} -- { looking through the small screen she grins when the only thing separating them is the wooden door but still she played with him, teasing him} who's there?

*/ new city meant new friends and new clothes. soojung didn’t exactly pack too heavy for her arrival to korea, but when she found herself sitting in a cafe wearing a faded green tee and a pair of jeans so old and trusted that they’d begun sagging in weird places, she figured it was time for a little shopping. she met suzy not too long after that. they had some mutual friends, and a saturday trip to the food court led to one thing and another, and eventually they became shopping buddies of sorts. suzy had taste and soojung had a credit card and a closet to fill—and a few weeks later, an empty weekend. cue text messages and plans and anticipation, cue soojung sitting in the food court where they first met, drinking cold water from a bottle and just waiting waiting waiting— /
One of the first things she did when she returned from Busan after her mom passed away was to go shopping, as a stress reliever and even if it didn't sound the perfect thing to be done as you're mourning the death of someone you love, Suzy didn't mind - through it she ended up meeting this girl, someone new, someone to give her a fresh start, with no preconceived ideas about her - just someone that potentially shw should have fun and chill out. The message that arrived wasn't ignored and Suzy was there, at the mall, their empire, and as she walked to the food court to meet Soojung, who she could see was sat not very far from where she was now, she wondered a couple of thing - one of them being why that meeting was being summoned all of a sudden; yes, she was curious. "hey there girlfriend." she greeted the girl with a short laugh, sitting in front of her.
ROOKIES RP MEMBERS: Bae Suzy - ROYAL ENT. HOPEFUL
Being the daughter of a famous ballerina didn't give Suzy all the recognition she wanted because the girl didn't care about dancing. Leaving her home in Busan, she moved to Seoul with her father and after spending a time in America, she returned to prove everyone else that her talent wasn't in pointe shoes but in killer vocals.
"I’ve always thought being tired mentally is harder to control than being tired physically." — Suzy

Hey ... [/the underlying laughter in his voice fades into a gentle seriousness, and he speaks quietly] ... I said I would come. [/he breaths a soft sigh, feeling guilty for maybe not making his joking tone more obvious. it only makes him want to make it up to her even more] ... I'll be over in an hour or so, okay? Just ... try not to fall asleep ~ [/he adds at the end, trying to make tone lighter to lighten the serious atmosphere of the conversation]
oh it's a date then... { she tries not to giggle because even if the act is supposed to belong to girls she feels weird doing it so she covers her mouth with one hand, the sound coming muffled then when she speaks } I'm not sleepy; you're the one who will fall over the food later, silly. { then, in a more caring tone, she adds } i will wait for you.
[/he adjusts his hold on the cellular device, juggling it with a cigarette in his other hand. it's been sitting idle for the last minute that he's been talking to her, but he takes a small inhale now, blowing away from the phone so the sound isn't caught in the speaker, and his smile can be heard] Aaah ~~ bribing me with food, hmm ~~? [/he chuckles] You make offers difficult to resist, you know that, right?
{ she wants to tease him some more but maybe his hesitation really has to do with the fact he's now a trainee and with that comes responsibilities she's only heard about } i wouldn't have to bribe you if you had said yes in the first place... though i understand if you cant come....
Aaaah ~ But those times were different ~? I didn't mind that you fell asleep. [/but indeed, it does bring back nostalgic memories, of her head beginning to dip next to him, lolling as she tries to resist sleep but failed, until her head would come to a rest against his shoulder] -- [/he's about to protest again, something about wanting to give the chef proper credit for the food, but his words choke in his mouth from the embarrassed laugh that ensues and he's flustered again] Ah- ...O-Okay ...
There was nothing different those times you silly...so you can sleep just don't expect me to pick you up... { she jokes a little and really expects him yo say he's coming because she just doesn't want to admit that the place is lonely and pretty big without her brother there to keep her company } good, that's my boy...no complaining then...are you coming? i might even cook an omelet for you. i know you love it...
At least is was warm with her being out on the street, dishing out flyers to bypassing people. Whenever she’d spot a person walking close enough to her, she would set on a charming smile and reach the flyer forward with a tilt of her head as if to say “please have this”. And so she did when she spotted Suzy walking pasther. “Hey Suzy! I have something for you~" She chirps up, handing her the flyer with a grin. "please check it out. you'll find important dates, upcoming events and such on here!"
{ she wasn't supposed to be this late to her singing lessons because the coach was extremely firm in saying that if you can't be on time you can't sing there, something she thought it wad stupid but she couldn't complain since it had been the only place her money could afford so far so it was better than nothing, when she heard her name being called out by a known voice; the surprise is evident in her face as she takes the flyer and shakes her head a bit, not in amusement but in a happy way because she knows what that means } Jieun unnie.....OMG! { she spazzes a bit } you made it through???? and to...Royal?!?! OMG that's amazing! I'll take it for sure, after all i want to be part of the royal army as soon as possible! good luck unnie, tell jihyun unnie i said hi!
