Something I’ve never liked about death note how to read 13, is the way Near and Mello are listed as having a lot of emotional strength. It’s confirmed that Near is so sensitive he isolated himself from others entirely and we all know Mello is a fire cracker. Neither of those traits display emotional strength. I feel like Obata’s definition of emotional strength is more in line with resilience or repression, depending on how he intended Near and Mellos characters to be.
