I think the meronia community grossly underappreciates how Mello & Near are literally just L's character traits halved and personified. They belong together, no matter what they do. Their hearts and minds are constantly reaching for each other, seeking to be completed. They're one whole seperated in the aether. They're always missing something, and what they miss is their equal.
