It was a normal night, nothing out of the ordinary- warm, but with a cool breeze, the moon peeking from behind the clouds a little, only having recently risen. Perfect for a walk back home after getting something quick for dinner.
It was strange, though, how the universe worked. It was such a pleasant night, rather quiet even despite the traffic. He’d been thinking about calling Benji, asking his boyfriend if he wanted to hang out tonight. Or tomorrow. Or just... sometime this weekend. Whenever, so long as it was soon. Sure, he’d seen him just yesterday, but he liked being with him and, as cheesy as it was, he kind of missed him already. And that’s where fate came in. Because who should he bump into (almost literally) but Benji? His first reaction was a smile, excited to see the other male. That, however, quickly dissipated when he realized the state his boyfriend was in: “Who did this?” He asked, voice low, teetering somewhere between concern and anger. Not anger at Benji, of course, but at who the fuck ever had done this to him, “What happened?” Another question, smoothing his thumb over Benji’s cheek in what was meant to be a calming motion. He peeked into the alleyway behind him- it was probably a good thing that the person who attacked Benji was gone because Jaewon would have chased them down in a fit of anger. But a part of him wished he could have enacted some sort of vengeance on his boyfriend’s behalf. Then again, maybe Benji had won in the scuffle? Sure, he didn’t look the type to fight, but did that really mean anything when it came down to it, “Come on. Explain it on the way. My place is closer, I’ll get you patched up.”
Of course. Obviously. It was ridiculous to think that Jaewon’s first instinct would be to suddenly see him as some violent criminal mastermind. Maybe he’d bring it up later for the sake of comedy, but for now he wasn’t really in the mood. He was a little too tired for jokes. And Jaewon’s presence was taking up most of his attention as he kept trying to think of the right thing to say.
“I don’t know,” he finally sighed as he closed his eyes for a few moments. “It was kind of a random thing...” Thankfully, the person he stepped in to assist was smart enough to leave the scene as quickly as possible. No need to stand around for a wave of excessive thank-yous like some civilians tended to give. Benjamin was happy to help, but going to his boyfriend’s place right now seemed perfect- he just wanted to go somewhere that felt safe and familiar to decompress and relax. No more strangers.
“It’s not as bad as it looks.” He tried to subtly shake out his right hand to get the dull ache in his knuckles to go away. Unsuccessfully. “But yeah, that sounds good.” Benji managed a tiny smile before averting his gaze. It was so tempting to apologize for... the inconvenience of causing him worry? Hell, he didn’t know. So he kept quiet instead and reached up to carefully take Jaewon’s hand in his own so he could lead the way.
