The Truth Every single day we wake up, Put on facades to hide our truth We think people would reject us for. We go on with our day used to Wearing our masks eventually Believing it to be our real face. The more we believe in our covers, The more we think them factual Until they do become our truths. We believe in our false truths so much We forget that we long for something. Something that we've yearned so badly. We just want someone to see through the mist, Take off our masks, and see the Real us underneath our facade. We want to be understood in a world Where no one truly understands that What makes us different makes us special. We want someone to empathize with Our feelings and the struggles we go through In our quest to be our best selves. We long for the acceptance in this world Full of rejection from the labels that We, ourselves, have created. We aspire to be listened to when The whole world wants to talk and We drown in all the noise and crave for silence. The truth is, the world does accept us The outcasts, the misfits, the broken, The minority, geeks and nerds. The world has accepted us but We've been too dictated by our Labels that we wear day in and day out. We're too engorged by the labels We forget that we've broken the chains Tethering us to those labels. We've already proven ourselves Better than those mere words For we are all the words combined. We are good. We've always been. We never needed the masks at all. And that's the truth. -Richard Cafifge Another #brainfart thanks to the inspiration from talking about masks with a friend. Oh how I long for deep conversations and beautiful realizations. #poetry #freeverse #inspiration #BookCompanion : The Truth About Alice by Jennifer Matthieu #book #bookworm #bibliophile #booknerdigans #bookstagram #instabooks #bookdragon #reader #booknerd
