          the minute they had been given the all clear by the med droid whose patience seemed to have been running thinner by the minute, roan flew to the nearest rebel alliance base, which of course was now part of the republic’s army, —roan had to remind himself that that was what the fight had been for— part of why roan had stayed away for a few years after coming back to life, but now now that didn’t matter. republic, rebellion, empire, royalty, the monsters had attacked them all the same. maybe the force had returned them all for a reason, roan shook his head, he would die before admitting that.

       as roan approached the cantina known for being a place where former rebel alliance members hanged out, he spotted a familiar face. ❝del. del!❞ roan called out and approached their fellow freedom fighter, they had not seen del in a while, ❝it’s good to see you again.❞

“I do believe they think I am some kind of god.”

         ❝well in my time you guys are not as uncommon, so i’ll pass on the whole worshiping you thing❞ roan said in a teasing tone, no malice behind his words, understanding why their fellow freedom fighter would keep such abilities a secret. roan only lived a short time under the empire, but he knew first hand what the empire had planned for force sensitives. but in their attempt to try and keep things light roan had revealed that he was not in fact from this time, a thing he had been very careful about, but a part of him was relieved, and realized that they trusted ekkreth more than originally thought, they had after all fought side by side, even if the other was not particularly the sharing kind, roan had always been open about who he was, ❝it’s okay your secret is safe with me.❞

( fee ):

there had been many faces to treat in the midst of disaster, and fee had been careful to use her more personal resources only on those who truly needed it, to avoid draining herself completely. she’d admittedly been surprised when a droid had come to get her, hammering on about how insistent a half-conscious human had been to see them. it was easy to recognize him, only because of what pitiful shape he had initially been in.

“because you needed it.” fee’s voice was soft and sweet, all fluff, a contrast to the sharp tattooed lines of their face. she pulled over a stool closer to his bedside and sat down on it. “well, maybe i didn’t have to, but i think i would’ve felt horribly guilty if i just let you bleed out and did nothing. so maybe i was helping myself a bit, too.”

         roan had always placed his faith on the people, no matter how dark things might be if there was one person still willing to help others then not everything was lost. a small smile appeared on his face before giving the young woman and courteous nod, ❝thank, and i apologize if they sort of dragged you here, i— i just had to see you and thank you in person...❞ there was more things they wanted to add, like how she had given them the chance to keep waiting for their husband to show up, how tragic it would’ve been if they had perished after the universe had given them another chance, but roan didn’t even know this woman’s name, so he reigned in his need to overshare. 

          ❝my name’s roan❞ he figured they could start by learning each other’s names, ❝and i hope one day i get to repay what you did for me... not for you, i— i wouldn’t like you getting hurt, but for another person, give back to the universe...❞ he wondered if they could blame whatever the med droid was pumping him full off.

a force-forsaken planet, the outer rim territories roan lands & anakin skywalker ekkreth (( @fearlessskywalker ))

           the time roan had spent recovering from his injuries had about driven him to the point of madness, after finally winning the argument against the med droid roan had finally been able to act on the thoughts that had consumed him after finally waking up in that medical wing. the horror they had survived at hapes still felt like it had happened to someone else, how was it possible to have survived? but then again how was it possible to be decades in the future, alive and well. roan refused to even think of the phrase the force works in mysterious ways. 

         their ship had been lost at hapes, and while they had been a part of the alliance, they weren’t technically with the republic, so roan ended up getting the best ship they could with the credits at his disposal. a few mishaps later and they finally made it to one of the worlds they had helped liberating. it had been the first since coming back that roan had felt like his old self. 

         of course they had not expected to run into the person who had involved him in the action to begin with, but it was a welcomed sight. any person who went around helping people without expecting anything in return placed very high on roan’s list of people he would like to surround themselves with. and while the once stranger had always been on the quiet side, roan still smiled fondly at them, ❝ekkreth, i— well i was going to say i’m surprised to see you here, but i guess we both had the same idea...❞ roan let the thought hang in the air, ❝you were there too?❞ a planet’s entire armada fought those monsters and barely survived, what could this planet do against such a threat?

           it had not been easy to convince people he was ready to be up and moving again, roan had swore they would take it easy, but he was anxious to get back to some of the outer rim planets they had visited when they first came back to life. it was a terrifying thought to think of all those peaceful worlds, full of people who had just gotten a chance at a better life, struck by the evil that had attacked them at hapes. but as luck would have it roan barely made it to the edge of the mid rim when his ship began to warn him that it was running low on fuel. after a few moments of wondering if he had forgotten to fill it up or if some malfunction was the cause of it, roan had no option but to land.

          this was a new place for him, and was almost certain it did no exist in their time, so roan turned to the person closest to him as asked, ❝excuse me do you happen to know where the fueling station might be?❞

           the injuries roan had sustained were internal, or that’s what they had managed to hear the medics say while he came in an out of consciousness, the faces they had seen hovering over them had been more than roan had expected, he was sure the only person who would care enough to visit was ferus. but there had been others, faces roan did not recognize, and some he remembered as a half forgotten dream. roan was sure he had seen the girl before, and after almost driving the med droid mad, the little clanker finally agreed to find the girl roan had been asking about. 

           ❝you, you helped me, why?❞ roan asked when she finally arrived looking about the same age roan had when he died, ❝thank you, i- you didn’t have to help.❞

( ferus​ ):

“roan ! “ in an instant, ferus’ composure shattered. he had just gotten him back. he had just gotten him back. his battleworn composure failed him, reaching out desperately to try to stop the rubble, pouring everything he had into it — but his connection to the force was still healing, still rusty & out of use, & he wasn’t fast enough to do anything but slow it slightly. he wasn’t fast enough. there was a part of him that would never forgive that, that angry dark tinged part of him that flooded his weary body with strength as he broke into a sprint to cross the room, clumsily shoving the rubble off of roan’s body.

“no, no, no.” he fell to his knees beside him, reaching out to cradle his body. “talk to me, my love. talk to me. please, roan. please.”

         a trembling hand reached out to touch ferus’ face, a weak ❝hey❞ making its way out of roan’s lips. the pain roan was certain was a good thing, getting injured like they did and not feeling pain usually meant there wouldn’t be much left to do, but he could feel the way his lungs were struggling to make sure they kept breathing, the sharp pain on his side, no doubt from a broken rib, he could feel everything, so that had to mean something. ❝i- i’m sorry❞ they tried to say, but it sounded like a gurgle, the best they could manage was trying to find ferus’ arm, giving it a squeeze, and deciding that this time the universe was not going to tear them apart.

Breha had grieved for people before. Hell, she had also lost her own sister while Deara was still alive - her most trusted advisor, a traitor. She was used to grieving, she had grieved for Deara. Her parents. More than she could count. Stubbornly she didn’t think that Roan’s advice was necessary. Still, it did help, because not many said that. This evening she heard a lot of empty words - Alderaan was a tragedy, we’re all sorry, so and so. Instincts told her Roan meant it. So she was grateful, both for the words and the company that didn’t feel fake, for once. “I’d rather talk about this with you than any of the guests around, you know,” she said, there was no point to lie about it. “Most of them only come to talk because it makes them feel better.” They came to make her know that they existed, too, but Breha had been playing that game since longer than most of them. Besides, Ferus was family to her by now. Meaning that Roan was family, too. “I don’t blame them though, I’ve done the same more than I can count.” She shrugged, she was too used to this to really be bothered by it. “Thank you. We can only hope that the Force will be kind enough to bring Bail back as well, but I’ve heard that it usually is more a bother than anything else.”

        roan really wished there wasn’t so much they wanted to say to her, but it was as if he couldn’t really hold back the words, a part of him regretted having left the core worlds, but after learning how much time had passed since he had died, and finding out that ferus was gone, roan couldn’t really face being anywhere close to bellassa. now he wondered if maybe being around people who were going through the same experience would’ve helped him feel less hopeless. ❝at times it feels...❞ roan shook their head, this was meant to be a celebration, ❝so fragile, as if the smallest thing will, take it away from us❞ he offered breha a small smile, ❝forgive me your majesty, it’s been a while since i felt i could talk freely❞ he had never wanted to burden others with his worries, ❝this is meant to be a party, would you like to dance?❞

         maybe there really was a force after all, what is it the jedi he met all those years at bellassa was always saying? oh right, the force is balance, was this just the way the force planned on fixing the galaxy? people had come back to life, so now everyone had to die? well it was a good thing roan had never been much of a believer on higher powers, he believed in the people, and in doing the right thing, so against every instinct of self preservation and without hesitation roan pushed queen breha as one of the columns descended on them.

        it was an instant but everything around them did feel like it had slowed down, one last miracle roan thought, enough time to lock eyes with ferus, i love you, i am sorry, roan wanted to say, they had promised ferus they would never leave him again, but here they were, about to die in front of the man he loved, again.

It was hard for Breha to believe that she was really there, in the Hapes system, but she was getting used to it. After all this was just another formal event. Another diplomatic night. What she knew best. It almost looked like her old life, and she was lucky enough to have family around and not feel alone. Ignoring her husband’s absence was impossible though. Even if the people around, like Roan, helped. “You as well,” she told them, a light smile on her face. “He saved my daughter’s life many times, that kind of things help with trust.”

        roan was never one to offer unsolicited advice, specially not to a queen, but they knew enough of her situation, and had been in that same exact position, —although probably not the only ones of the galaxy— that he felt confident enough to utter his next words. ❝i know it’s probably not something you want to talk about on a night like this❞ he offered her an apologetic smile, ❝i know what is like, to miss the love of your life❞ roan turned to find ferus across the room, ❝for years i held onto the hope that ferus would come back to me, i didn’t always stay very positive, but the force did return him to me...❞

         how was it possible that mere months ago roan was beginning to wonder if coming back to life had been worth it, wishing he had been able to wait for ferus in the afterlife. but as he smiled at his husband, and made small talk with those that had become family to ferus, roan thought about how he wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, thanking the force for a second chance at life.

        ❝well leave it to ferus to become friends with royalty❞ roan joked, ❝it’s an honor to meet you your highness❞  roan said as they awaited the end of another year.

Trever soon found out that he didn't fit under Olin/Lands's desk anymore. Well, it was a given — it had been a long time since he was thirteen and small enough to fit there. At first, disappointment hit him for a short while. He couldn't help it, part of him wanted everything to be the same once he realized he'd woken up in Ussa of all places. Which wasn't really something he was mad about. It came with his memories, which he hadn't realized were wiped in the first place. The scientist had done their job really well. Trever got past the shock of this quite easily and immediately got to work. Olin/Lands was still standing, abandoned, and dirty, and he needed a place to stay, and if Ferus was still out there, Trever was pretty sure he wouldn't mind if he was the one staying there. Something else that he found out was that the Ussan black market was much easier to be a part of when you were older. This was greatly appreciated, and he was coming back to the shop's backroom when things changed. As Trever did not recognize anyone in Ussa anymore (he figured people changed too much, or the people he was close to died, as they always did), but he ended up recognizing someone in the streets — who did not recognize him. Of course, he wouldn't. Trever was thirteen the last time Roan saw him, why would he recognize him now? It wasn't like him to let people go until they were taken, though. "Hey, Roan," Trever said, disbelief and joy in his voice at the same time. "You walked right past me."

        he didn’t even know why he was there. after coming back to life —it had been a shocker to find out they had been brought back, and not just back but thrusted into the future— roan had stayed away from bellassa for years. the memories, good and bad, would’ve been to hard to handle on their own. but ferus had come back into his life now, and while roan knew deep in their heart that things would never be the same again, now he didn’t feel like coming back to olin/lands would be like stepping into a lost what if, but rather a wonderful what the future might hold. so they had decided to stop by their old business, not that he expected anything would still be there, but if anything they would pick up the sign if it was still up. 

       there was little left that could still surprise roan, coming back to life did that to you, nothing seemed impossible anymore, but the building looked exactly like they remembered, as if the people had decided to leave up untouched, well not totally of course, time had touched it, but a smile appeared on his face as they looked at the sign in front, just like the last time they’ve seen it. 

      suddenly a voice took him by surprise. roan could swear there was no one left on the planet who would know who he was, who he used to be, they were sure there was no one left who remembered. ❝i’m sorry, how is it possible that you know who i am...❞

The  experience  on  Sernpidal  had  definitely  quieted  even  Poe’s  personal  mission.  But  they  had  found  some  time  to  do  more  looking  for  Finn.  His  eyes  peak  through  the  binoculars.  But  it  seemed  that  his  tip  was  faulty.  They  weren’t  there.  His  shoulders  visibly  deflated  but  when  he  turned,  he  tenzed  up  as  the  face  of  another  was  now  in  his  view.  “  Well,  if  you  had  this  spot  marked  for  stalking  I’m  sorry  pal.  “

         it was a sensitive subject, the jedi, with the order rebuilding, the last thing roan wanted was to add more worry to an already stressed ferus, so they decided to follow some leads, be of help to the alliance, the new republic. hoping that once again kenobi wouldn’t take his husband away to help jedi across the galaxy. had they not being so distracted they would’ve stopped before almost bumping into someone. 

         ❝mmh❞ roan said rising an eyebrow, ❝i didn’t know anyone else would be investigating this lead...❞ they gave the other a once-over, ❝funny you should call it stalking, i would’ve gone with scoping out the enemy...❞

( ferus​ ):

when ferus reached roan, he clung to him, tangling his fingers in his husband’s shirt, as if he wasn’t sure that roan was real, thought he might slip away. he pulled him closer, feeling as if his legs were about to give out underneath him. he tucked his head into the crook of roan’s neck, holding him tightly. he never wanted to let go. not again. please, stars, not again. he was trembling, almost, shaking — with relief, with sobs, with laughter.

“oh, don’t,” he almost begged, voice brimming with warmth & pain. “i was without you for more than a decade ; you’re the one running late.” he pulled back to look him in the face, drinking in the sight of him. roan — roan had barely aged. ferus was so different from the man he had loved. would they still fit together the same ? he didn’t care. he couldn’t. having him back was enough, no matter how many of his own edges were glass sharp.

“i’ve missed you.” words failed to grasp it, couldn’t begin to parallel the pure adoration in his eyes.

           ❝i can’t even begin to imagine what it was like for you❞ roan said shaking his head as the tears fell from his eyes, to have lived all those years without their husband would’ve driven roan insane, that was why ferus had always been the strongest of the two, ❝i’m glad to see you are still you❞ roan said, too many emotions running through them that they became impossible to count, joy seemed to shine through. with a smile on his face roan leaned in to kiss their husband. 

         roan last words had been a plea, don’t give yourself away for me, and what he had hoped would carry him to the afterlife, hope that the man he loved would not give in, that he would remain the kind and loving person roan had fallen for all those years. the universe had listened, he had listened. ❝i’m never leaving your side again...❞ roan promised, hoping this time he would be able to keep their wedding vow that they would stay together forever.
