Japanese is one of the main languages that I have set about learning, and with it being a difficult language to learn, it’s really important to get enough practice.
So, I have made a couple investments into some Japanese language learning materials.
As it’s difficult to know where to start when learning a new language, I will go through what I have bought. But there won’t be any reviews in this post just because I haven’t used them yet (that’ll be coming soon…stay tuned.)
Genki 1 (Second Edition) – Course Book, Work Book and Answer Book
I have spoken to a lot of people who are learning Japanese, and they have also heard of the Genki series, so they are well known and well trusted.
I’ve done a couple of lessons and I’m finding it great for a beginner like myself – no previous knowledge is needed!
In the first couple of lessons it uses Hiragana, Katakana, Kanji and Romaji, then phases out Romaji towards the latter lessons.
I bought all three books off of Amazon for £97.77, and they are great value!
Nippongo Nikki Noto (日本語日記ノート）Learn to Write a Diary in Japanese
I found this book when looking for good learning materials on a blog called Japanese Tease.
I’ve been really excited about starting to use this book to help me practice my Japanese and learn new everyday vocab.
I, again, bought this off of Amazon for £30.
Japanese Readers – Level 0
This product comes with six short stories inside plus a CD.
I bought it now to use later thinking that it would be too much for me at the earlier stages, but this is great, I can already understand certain parts of the books, which really helps to motivate.
I bought this off of Amazon for £23.32.
Yes, I may have been a bit ambitious in buying these (I can’t understand a single word).
However, I’m excited to have started off my manga collection with ‘Chi’s Sweet Home’ and ‘Yotsubato!’ in Japanese, and I’m starting to find why so many people love manga!
I, once again, bought these from Amazon for around £6.50 each.
Once I begin to use these, I promise to do a product review on each of them.
