'Hello! Our Promised Future' Faction Highlight: Industrial Kingdoms
In the southern hemisphere is the massive island chain known as Neorea, also called the Thousand Kingdoms. True to its nickname, the island continents are home to almost a thousand nations. The most common of these are the Industrialized Kingdoms.
An industrial kingdom generally refers to a monarchy nation that has fully industrialized, however there were a significant number of republics, theocracies, and dictatorships included under the term as well. In fact, there is such a diversity of cultures, languages, and peoples across Neorea that the designation Industrial Kingdom is most helpful as a way to differentiate them from the more radical and chaotic nation types of Neorea.
One similarity, however, are their modern militaries. Pictured above are four common elements of any industrial kingdom's military.
Infantry (Top Left) - Most industrialized kingdoms have a standing army and riflemen known as infantry form the core of it. Armed with the most modern rifles their governments can afford, infantry are trained to shoot and advance while supported by artillery, until they are in range for a bayonet charge.
Wicker-Man (Top Right) - Wicker men are a result of combining the alchemical arts and industrial production. Less effective and responsive than traditional homunculi, wicker men can nevertheless be produced in great numbers to overwhelm the enemy. Their rifles are generally older models and their ability to distinguish friend from foe is limited, therefore they are often deployed en masse to shield the advance of infantry soldiers.
Military Mage (Bottom Left) - Military mages are those trained in the use of mage-craft, a relatively recent alternative to magic and sorcery. Although powerful, mage-craft is inherently harmful to the wielder. Most military mages are recruited young from orphanages and trained for years to wield the craft. Military mages not only serve to counter enemy sorcery and evil spirits but are also quite adept at laying waste to infantry lines with their ability to fly.
Iron Suit (Bottom Right) - Iron Suits are the name for steam, gear, or electrically-powered armor. Soldiers who wear the iron suits are equipped with heavy guns and close-range weapons, making them a dangerous foe for enemy infantry and armored units alike. Because of their limited operating time, iron suits are typically deployed in the thickest of fighting to wreck as much damage on the enemy as possible.
