This is my favorite painting of the many inspired by John Keats’ poem of the same name. The lady is depicted as femme fatale and the knight keeps lamenting because she betrayed him, i don’t know, I think she stole his horse, good for her.

Many artist were inspired by John Milton's epic poem Paradise Lost. Cabanel displays Lucifer, a fallen angel, who is still beuatiful but his expression shows hate,rage and pain. His pride has been hurt but he is not looking for forgiveness: “Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven”
