“Ehehe, that’s good to know,” he said with a small smile. He rubbed at the back of his neck, “And I’m glad you think so as well, ehehe, I wasn’t sure it was a good idea myself, then again, I think that a lot, ehehe…”

He then nodded then.

“Then we can do that,” he replied, the smile growing just that little bit more. This was a nice way to spend the afternoon. He gazed around as well, deciding that they had definitely found a good place to do some building. 

“Yeah, let’s do that,” he replied, before he took another moment to check over everything. He just wanted to make sure he knew what he was doing, “Why don’t we start with the main building first, and then we can try and like, do the side ones?” 

He then chuckled.

“Imagine if we could make like, interior stuff too,” he added, as he then reached down to take some snow into his hands.

“You have great ideas!” Teeni protested, a determined pout on her features suddenly, “Don’t let anyone- yourself included- tell you otherwise!” She shifted right back to the wide grin, her energy endless.

“Yay!” The shorter cheered, already getting on her knees to get started “We could like, recreate the entire base in snow! Maybe we can even find twigs and leaves to act as like, hair and arms and objects and stuff?” 

Real descriptive, Teeni.

“Okiedokie!” The engineer grinned, getting to work on starting. “Should we furnish and populate the main building before moving on to the side ones, or should we wait till we got our building structures done?” 

Looking up at Russell, she gave an enthusiastic nod and grin, before turning her attention back to the snow “Yeah!”

Drake, most certainly, knew what this lil’ gal had been planning on doing- and didn’t look surprised at all when she went to pick him up. Just as he was about to laugh, he was most certainly in Teeni’s arms, feet dangling above the ground.

It wasn’t often someone could pick him up, and his expression most definitely gave away his shock at it. In another scenario, if he wasn’t a mind reader, he likely would have freaked out by Teeni trying to hoist him up- and gone against it. However, mind reader as he was, he still hadn’t expected to find him bridal-style in the arms of a woman he’d met practically minutes before. His cheeks were flushed as he let out a laugh, the man feeling almost embarrassed by the weird situation- and by underestimating her.

Drake didn’t dare move, though. While the ground definitely wasn’t far away, he wasn’t in the mood to meet it abruptly. His laughter died down after a moment, the man trying to get rid of the awkward feeling of it. He, most certainly, was not used to things like this- and didn’t even know how he should take it.

His perception of Teeni, in the very least, was changed.

“Your company? Who ya work for?” A reasonable question- something that felt reasonable to him. It felt like whatever answer he got wouldn’t be expected. Teeni was unexpected already- even with being able to hear her thoughts, and it made Drake admittedly a little more interested (and polite) than he’d be to most. A lopsided grin tugged on his lips again, dark eyes wandering to hers again. “Don’t tell me ya like, work for some mass murderer or somethin’. You’ll throw my brain for too many loops in one day. Or maybe you’re the mass murderer.”

Teeni was all too proud of herself, and it showed. She was very careful about positioning; after all, he sort of stuck out when she held him bridal style, definitely didn’t want him to hit his head on any shelving. 

A laugh left her, giving a bounce or two to show she had a secure grip on him. “See what happens when you don’t give a gal the benefit of the doubt?” She teased, sticking her tongue out at him briefly. Though now she wondered what next, does she keep holding him up, or let him down? The awkward silence suggested the latter, and she carefully helped him down- or, back up, however one wanted to perceive her tilting to help get him back on his feet.

“Oh, I-” Teeni paused, blinking at the inquiry with a bit of owlishness. Why was that so dead on? Although, it’s technically not murder... 

The shorter gave a laugh, trying not to see suspicious or turn her eyes away “Oh, you’re funny.” She snickered, though she had definitely been thrown off  “No, I work for a private building company. How else would I keep these muscles up, hm?” She flexed playfully, although nothing could be seen under that big jacket she wore. “Top of the line stuff, and super secret. But I can tell you what I’m working on on the side, since it’s just a for me by me kind of deal” Maybe going in that direction, rather than focusing on the company she worked for, would set things back on track to not being awkward. What was this guy, though, a mind reader?

Midnight Coffee

“Sorry, Teeni, ehehe, I got worried that some RED had tried to sneak in under the cover of darkness, or something,” he said, sheepishly. His cheeks went a bit pink at that. 

Misty stepped up and rubbed her cheek against Teeni’s fingers, chirping.

“Oh, that’s Misty, she’s my cat. She loves people a whole lot,” Russell said with a small smile, “Feel free to pet her. She’ll be your best friend. Loves any attention she can get.”

“Yeah, maybe I will later,” he replied, as he the took another sip of the coffee he had gotten for himself. He brought the empty cup he had gotten and set it on the counter so Teeni could use it. 

“No problem,” he said, as he glanced at it. It seemed there would be enough for two more cups at least. He could always brew more if it was needed as well. 

“Ah, the Engineer’s work is never done, huh?” he said then, although there was no mockery in his voice, “I hope you’re able to get some rest soon as well.” 

He fidgeted where he stood.

“Um, what were you working on, if uh, it’s not a secret I mean, also, I mean, even if it wasn’t you don’t have to tell me, ehehe,” he added quickly, “Sorry, I shouldn’t be nosey.”

“Nah, that’s reasonable, especially when you haven’t slept and just sitting in such quiet.” Teeni gave a reassuring smile, “Sorry to startle you, I didn’t think anyone else would be awake.”

“Hello Misty~” The engineer cooed, giving a few good pets before she stood back up to get coffee, she definitely planned on giving Misty more attention later “Shes super cute, how long have you had her?” 

“Thank you~!” She slid the empty mug, over, grabbing the coffee pot and pouring herself some. After putting the pot back, she held the cup in both hands, taking a big swig.

“Ha, never” Teeni giggled, using the back of one of her hands to rub her eyes while trying to fight a yawn. “Sleep is for people without engineering degrees”

She looked up at him then, a smile on her face “Hey, don’t worry, it’s cool to be curious” A giggle left her “A couple things, really. Mainly trying to see if I can improve the designs of what we got already, maybe even make mini dispensers, a dispenser backpack would be pretty handy, right?” 

Teeni took a long sip of coffee, giving a slight pause before she added “...Also, rocket shoes.”

“I hope you’re ready, Electrolights and I aren’t going to lose tonight!” Teeni pointed enthusiastically at Martha, the other hand on her hip and with a bright, playful grin on her face. 

Martha looked up from her heavyweight bot, Steeltooth, and up at the LED-decked builder; her soon to be opponent; pointing at her. A brow was raised. Normally, Martha didn’t participate in the friendly banter in the pits before battles, but Teeni had proven to be quite the match against other big names, and she did have a line in mind..

“Sorry, I can’t take a bot that won’t stick to a single design seriously.” The redhead stood up straight, cleaning off her hands on an oily rag. 

Teeni gaped, not only not expecting it, but for her to insult her interchangeable swiss army bot in such a way-! “Hey! Electrolights is interchangeable, not fickle! Besides, have you at all changed your design in the past few years?” 

“If it’s not broke, don’t fix it” Martha combated simply, her infliction unchanging “Besides, I have made tweaks to the design- interior, mostly. Otherwise, it’s well proven its worth in the box as is. Shouldn’t you be adding more lights, or did you use them all on your outfit?”

Teeni puffed her cheeks out, her confident stature now pouty “Well, I-!” 

“Wasn’t prepared for a battle of banter, obviously. I do hope your readiness in the box will be much better.” Martha turned her attention back to her bot then, signifying she was quite done with the conversation.

“You’re going down, just you wait and see, you won’t be laughing when I rip your bot to shreds!” Teeni mustered up her playful confidence again, but it was far less than it was before.

“I wasn’t laughing to being with.”

He had been good at remembering to take the pills that Klaus had prescribed for him. They had even worked rather well most nights. But tonight, he had forgotten, and it was going to be a sleepless night plagued by thoughts and memories. 

He jumped up onto his feet when the door opened, leaving the book he had been reading behind. He then breathed a sigh of relief. Not an intruder. Teeni.

Misty mewed in greeting and immediately approached, her tail pointing straight up into the air.

“Ehehe, couldn’t sleep. A Medic gave me some pills to help me with that but I forgot to take them tonight,” he admitted, rubbing at the back of his neck. He gestured his head towards the coffee pot, “There‘s some still some hot coffee in there if you want it.”

He didn’t sit back down just yet. He instead went to fetch a mug from one of the cupboards just in case Teeni took him up on that offer.

“What about you?” he asked.

She hadn’t meant to startle him, but that was a given with how late and quiet it was. Funnily enough, she jumped as well when he jumped to his feet, bright blue eyes staring bewildered for a moment as she calmed down.

The mewl of a cat got her attention, expression lighting up as she carefully knelt down and reached her hand out, a bright smile on her face “Aw, heya kitty” 

Her attention was brought back to Russell when he spoke, humming with some concern evident. “Hope you can get some sleep later then” She gave a smile, then glanced at aforementioned coffeepot. “Oh, yes please-! That’s what I came for.”

Standing up, she went for the coffee pot, checking how much was in. “I lost track of time” She replied, giving a quiet giggle “Got caught up in my work, and now I don’t want to go to bed, so.. Figured I’d grab some coffee.”

Teeni had lost track of the time, working herself until late on various projects. Seeing as it was already past midnight and she didn’t feel like going to bed, she was going to need coffee. Quietly sneaking out of her workshop, she made her way to the kitchen of the BLU base, idly rubbing sleepiness from her eyes.

What she hadn’t expected, though, was seeing someone else in the room; seemingly with the same goal. 

“Russell?” The engineer spoke up, though kept her voice low “Hei, what’re you doing up so late?” She walked over curiously, pulling the fuzzy blue blanket around her shoulders closer to herself.

Jeesh- the longer Drake looked at her, the more he realized how small she was. Drake knew he was a skyscraper compared to others, but it always felt weird to be next to someones shorter than average. It was almost adorable, to him- and he wasn’t the type to find anyone all too precious. 

“Sure, sure, lil’ ankle biter. I’m sure you’re a fearsome force of nature, and I’m shaking on the spot.” Drake didn’t want to assume the other was weak, but it wasn’t often he looked at any one else and considered their strength. Drake himself was built- and he often didn’t find anyone he saw a challenge. The man faltered for almost a brief moment as he listened to the other’s thoughts, eyes flickering away from the shorter. 

“I see, I see. What kind of projects?” He wouldn’t deny it to himself- he was interested in the other, and he had absolutely nothing else to do. It couldn’t hurt, and there was genuine interest behind it, too.

While she knew some taller folk, Drake was definitely up there. Her neck could likely start hurting if she wasn’t careful with how much she was looking up at him, given the roughly 17 inch difference between the two. Still, even with the height difference, Teeni was confident that she could lift him if she wanted to.

“Aw c’mon, you’re not even giving me the benefit of the doubt!” Teeni couldn’t help but pout, crossing her arms while being mindful of what she had in her hand. Looking him over, she had to think; what was he, just over 200? Given height and muscle mass, she was likely lowballing, but it still was not impossible. Seeing him falter only made her decide fully, placing the blade on a lower shelf and “Alley-oop!” 

Taking the man into her arms and lifting, she grinned up at him with pride and mischief. Of course, because of his height, it was a little difficult to manage; so instead, she switched to holding him bridal style, carrying him without a problem. 

“Well, engineering, mostly. I work to make tools and machines to make my company’s job easier.” That was one way to put it, at least. As she continued, she winked with a grin “I have personal projects and craftings on the side though, don’t tell anyone”

Drake was, admittedly, a little bit too amused with the scenario. He couldn’t help but snicker, one hand moving to ruffle Teeni’s hair before he tucked both hands into his pant pockets, thumbs poking out.

“Geesh, you’re cute. Just a cute, tiny lil’ thing. Honestly, I feel like the world could just chew ya up and spit ya out.” People who were too happy like this- or at least, seemed to be- always worried Drake. They always seemed the type to get hurt, to him- and, along with it, the type to be hiding pain behind the cheeriness. If he’d learned anything, it’s that people can’t be trusted based just off of how they acted- and he couldn’t help but wonder what Teeni was actually like. His eyes flickered over Teeni for a brief moment before clearing his throat. 

“So… what are ya planning on doing with that anyways?”

Teeni was already invested, this guy proved to be fun, albeit sarcastic. A surprised laugh left her at the hair ruffle, giving a mock whine and a ‘Awww cmon’ as she tried to fix her dyed locks. No real offense was taken, though.

“Hey! I may be cute, but I’m tough too!” She puffed out her cheeks, as if to prove a point. “I can protect myself, and others!” She had to. Teeni was determined to be the one strong enough to push through anything, strong enough to be there for others when they needed it. Like this guy- Drake was definitely strong; and she wondered, briefly, what his motivation was, what his story was, she liked getting to know people like that. Still, her mind was brought back to the conversation when the taller spoke up again.

“Oh! The old blade broke finally, I need to get it replaced so i can keep working on my projects.”

Fetch had to laugh, “Oh my god, you really are innocent! I would never turn to the plaza, it’s April Fools!”

“Huh..?” M1 tilted her head, obviously perplexed by the situation. “April.. Fools? Oh! Goodness, how embarrassing..”

“Y’know, I was thinking about it. Villainy is just awful, and using robots for villainy? Just immoral, and such a waste of good robots. I think I’ll give Lord Boxman my two weeks notice and see if Gar’s Bodega will hire me.”

“Call shenanigans all you want- it won’t change your situation.” He let out a little huff of triumph once she gave up, setting the blade back on the shelf. He couldn’t have done this in the first place, but watching her struggle to reach it had been entertaining. 

“Hey- I’m not that tall,” Drake argued, though he definitely knew he was. While he wasn’t the tallest person he’d ever met, he usually towered pretty close to it in any given room. “I just think everything’s real big because of how small you are.”

Drake suddenly felt awkward, setting Teeni down without another word. A smile still quirked on the edges of his lips as he grabbed the blade once again, passing it over to her.

“I’m done teasin’ ya. You gotta hand it to short people, after all. They can’t reach it anyways.”

“Oh no, what ever shall I do.” Teeni giggled, stretching out dramatically. Though gave a pouty whine when he put the blade back, giving one last flail of her arm to try to get it. “Cmon Drake, buddy!! Pal!!” 

A snort of laughter escaped her “You kidding? Yes you are!! I’m only three inches shorter than average, you’re like, oodles taller than average!” Good termology, Teeni...

Being put down so suddenly surprised her, getting her bearings before looking up at him with some confusion on her face. Though at being handed the blade, a wide smile was back on her face as quickly as it went.

“Thank you! Wait- Hey!!!”

Drake continued to keep the saw blade stretched out above her, shifting his grip on the other for a brief second as she flailed. He couldn’t help but find it funny, trying his hardest not to chuckle watching her try so hard to reach it.

“I wouldn’t mind carrying you ‘round- but then ya wouldn’t get your blade, would you?” Drake really wouldn’t- this felt so normal to him, rather than anything else. “Name’s Drake- though I don’t know if my name fits as well as your name does.”

After all, without a doubt, Teeni was definitely small- especially compared to Drake.

“Unfair!! I call shenanigans!” Teeni kept trying to grab his arm and simply pull it down and towards her, but it was a little difficult given her situation. Eventually she gave up, huffing at him and his height. 

“I mean, I don’t need it immediately, I can play the waiting game. If nothing else, I can just come back later and get it” The shorter giggled, finding herself settling comfortably in the taller’s arm. “Drake, like, Draco? Dragons? Well, considering your stature, i say it fits! Besides, even normal things seem small to you, I bet!”

Drake did not expect this- especially not from such a tiny, friendly girl. He needed a moment to pull himself together before grinning again, wrapping one arm around the other and picking her up off the ground with one arm, the other still holding the blade up. 

“Nice try, dollface, but I’m strong too! And I’m more than happy to carry ya around aallll day like this.”

A surprised yelp left her, flailing her legs lightly as she was lifted; one arm still aiming for that darn blade. “Aw C’mon!!!” There went the puffy cheeks again, turning to look at the taller with mock frustration. 

“Is that a threat or an offer? Because honestly, I quite enjoy being carried, and in higher places- so sounds like a fun time to me. Also, Hi, I’m Teeni!!”

“Oh no! Are you saying something? I can’t hear what you’re saying from allllll the way up here!” Drake crouched more for a split second before standing up straight again, keeping the blade high up in his grasp. He wasn’t the type to play around like this often, but he was sure as hell enjoying himself. 

“Ohhhh you didn’t just go there!” Teeni puffed her cheeks out in a pouty manner, but a smile made its way back to her lips, giggling. “Actually, how about I just pull you down?” With a mischievous smirk, the shorter reached up and grabbed hold of his shoulder, carefully yanking the other down to her height and reaching for the blade in his hand “Gimmie!!!”

“I don’t know- could I?” Drake couldn’t help it- something about how tiny the other one amused him. His hand reached up to grab the replacement blades, easily grasping them but holding them above the other’s head. “For some reason, I don’t think I can hand it to you- what a shame.”

“Hey, no fair!” Despite her words, she laughed, reaching for the blade. “You seem to have full capacity in using your arms, so I don’t see the problem in handing them to me, pretty pleaaaaaase? Don’t make me climb you! I can and will!”

“Excuse me~” Teeni tried to get the attention of the taller, a bright and friendly smile on her face “I can’t really reach the higher stuff, could you be so kind as to hand me those chop saw replacement blades there up top?”
