@oceansofrp/ @closeknithearts liked my previous starter call.
This rain was practically pounding down as he hurried through this area. He needed to find some kind of shelter and dry off; his wings were like a ton of bricks on his back.
The wind wasn’t helping much either, causing his hood to be blown back and in turn, his antennae to whip across his face. But still, he persisted. His eyes widened when he saw what looked to be an abandoned building in the short distance.
What a stroke of luck. He could dry out, wait out of the rain, and then be on his way again. At that thought, Russell started to hurry towards it.

“Excuse me” Elijah said softly, gently tapping the woman on the shoulder. He smile as he looked her over “ma’am. I just wanted to let you know I think you’re beautiful. I hope that doesn’t come off a creepy or anything, because we are strangers and all. But that isn’t my intentions here at all. I just- wanted to let you know that.”
Elijah was the type of person who smiled with his whole body, a sofy joy seemed to pulse out of him as he spoke to her.

His lips trembled, desperately trying to face Kate’s words with a confident smile- or with something, with some form of returned confidence. ‘It’s going to be okay,’ his brain echoed, but the way his heart throbbed in his chest and the way his whole body shook with the force of the words and the sight before him made it plainly obvious to him that no, that was a lie; things were not going to be okay.
When he’d gotten the call from Lyle, he’d been in class- nowhere near the scene. He’d done everything in his power to visit Kate immediately afterwards; of course, he’d been accompanied, but he was the only one in the room to sit beside the other’s bedside.
He’d opened his mouth to speak, but it only flopped open and closed like a stranded fish the longer he looked at the other. Kate felt like a second mother to him- and from the vigilante’s state, he highly doubted her words were true. He choked on the lump on his throat before he gently reached for one of her hands, clinging onto it for dear life as his head rested on her side. Emerald curls bounced around his face at the motion, covering his face as he all but sobbed into her side, his entire body trembling with the emotion.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry-” The hoarse apologies didn’t seem to have any origin- why he was apologizing didn’t cross his mind, but the two words were all he could summon to his mind amidst the swarming thoughts consuming it.

He couldn’t take it anymore. He had to get out of this city as soon as he could. As far as he was aware, he was lucky to be alive at the moment. Not every place would be infested by supernatural beings or people with supernatural powers, surely...
He had taken his regular wooden cane. The extendable one and the sword one were left at home, along with his pistol. They wouldn’t protect him in any case and he didn’t need to end up on another shitlist.
He had decided to go to a local estate to see if he could talk about selling his house. There was bound to be buyers. As he walked down the street, he just had to hope there would be someone available to talk to.

The case was handed over with a smile. Rather than hurrying off, he waited to make sure that nothing had been damaged. If that had been the case, he would want to try and offer something to help repair what he assumed were glasses, judging by the case.
“You’re welcome,” he chuckled, overlooking the repetition. “But is it okay?”

Being an insomniac felt like a special power of Zane’s own, sometimes. A sleepover for Zane felt practically impossible; after all, he hardly ever did manage to catch a wink during one. Nancy was a great companion through nights, though, and Zane never shied away from an opportunity to spend time with the sibs.
However, he definitely wasn’t expecting this. He’d perked up at the sound of Lyle coming home and it hadn’t taken him long at all to untangle himself from his own little nest of blankets to go to see him- and the sight he managed to see instead by the time he’d gone to open the door made his heart lurch.
There had been so much to take in at once, but the first thing Zane had seen were the scars littering Lyle’s back, feeling his chest freeze up at the sight. He had absolutely no idea about any of them, and his fingers clutched onto the door frame tighter as he found himself staring, heart beating too fast in his chest and starting to feel a sense of panic rising in his chest. It didn’t take long for his eyes to catch sight of what the other had changed out of, too, which only seemed to make him paler- though didn’t seem to completely click through Zane’s head too.
“I’m- I’m so sorry-” He managed to croak out, going to leave and shut the door. Zane had absolutely no idea how to take any of this at all, his mind struggling to take in everything that he’d just managed to see in just a few seconds. “I’m- I’m so sorry, I should have knocked, I’m- I can leave, I’m sorry-”

A light laugh left the smaller as he felt the other’s hand ruffle his hair, soon after trying to find a way to explain this to Kate. It had been a lot since the last time he’d seen any of the siblings- and part of him was thankful Kate would be the one hearing all of it before all of the others.
“It’s... it’s kind of a long story, but...” And he told her all of it. Of being taken by Homeworld and being put on trial, about Lars, about finding out his mom’s true identity, about Garnet breaking up and Bismuth coming back, about Ruby and Sapphire’s wedding, and about the Diamonds coming back to Earth- all in one long, drawn out talk, Steven drawn to an abnormal amount of seriousness throughout. It had really been a long time since he’d seen them.
“Now it’s... uh, well... different. It’s been a lot lately, but I’m... really, really hoping everything gets better now.”
