A bad listener at school the teachers all said
But all he does is listen as he lays in bed.
To the shouts and yells, at worst a bump
The smallest sound will make him jump
On the outside he appears so tough
Mean and angry and kind of rough
But on the inside he feels so small
Most days he’d like to curl in a ball
He lives in a world where he has no control
Where his future looks like a bleak black hole
A different boy comes out at school
Its safe , he knows there are firm rules
So the lid comes springing off his feelings
No surprise it leaves teachers and students reeling
For here he can be heard, here he has a voice
Best of all he can make some choice.
Its unlikely the choice will always be good
Really is it fair that we think it would??
