Join us for a collective reading from Diane di Prima’s Revolutionary Letters, with original poems inspired by her Letters. Wednesday, January 29th from 9-11pm at @montezpressradio HQ (46 Canal Street, New York, NY), this free & open doors event will be broadcast LIVE on the radio. Co-hosted by @dontfallasleepinthewater & @fifidunks, with live readings from @kyliejennersagoraphobia (“the Diana Di Prima of the Lil Peep Generation,” sez @rachelrabbitwhite) @lrsphm @stacyskullnik @ben_fama @baba.sib & Conor Tomas Reed, among others, plus pre-recorded readings from @alexispenney @colinself, Fabiola Ching, Diane di Prima, and more. Time permitting, we will karaoke: open mic, background music, pick a poem & give voice to her. Crown, Neck, Root at Open Mouth by Nancy Lupo

Nancy Lupo’s Open Mouth is an installation of custom benches with rounded end elements that resemble teeth, located at Pershing Square in Downtown Los Angeles. The benches are arranged in a configuration that resembles a diagrammatic adult human mouth. The work is a stage for viewing, meeting, and thinking about the metabolism of the city. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

On Sunday, November 3 from 5:00-7:00pm, join Hard to Read for Crown, Neck, Root, a reading and performance exploring excavation, regeneration, consecration, and disappearance—themes inspired by Lupo’s installation and its site, Pershing Square. Featuring Norman M. Klein, author of The History of Forgetting: Los Angeles and the Erasure of Memory and Tales of the Floating Class; artist Reynaldo Rivera (Provisional Notes on a Disappeared City); artists Nancy Lupo and Camille Clair; Robbie Dewhurst and guest representing the late poet and translator David Rattray (How I Became One of the Invisible); and actor, writer, and activist Michael Kearns performing from John Rechy’s City of Night. With a soundtrack by Cucurucha. Hosted by author Fiona Alison Duncan (Exquisite Mariposa).

Books will be available for sale via Venmo, Square, and cash. Open Mouth is located at the South Hill St / West 6th St corner of Pershing Square.
