RobStar Week 2026, Day 3 - Denial
RobStar week 2026 day 2 trust/fidelity
A Teen Titans fanfiction for @robxstar event RobStar week 2026 day 2 trust/fidelity.
While the Teen Titans is battling a group of villains on a construction site, one of them managed to hit Robin with a hook and managed him fall out the platform, through Starfire was lucky enough to see Robin and fly over to rescue him, which the boy wonder joke, āNow I know how that Lois Land reporter feels when Superman save her every time.ā and Starfire said to Robin, āHey, you trust me enough that I would catch you.ā which Robin reply, āIndeed I did.ā
RobStar Week Prompt 3: Denial
Weekend is over so I don't think I'll be doing anymore prompts :') But I desperately want to write something for the Mythological AU so I'll still try to get it done even if it's late! @robxstar
------------------
There was comfort in the familiar ambiance of the Manor. The grandfather clock. The scent of polish and old books. The impossible quiet after months of Titans Tower, where someone was always arguing, laughing, or accidentally exploding something.
Dick sat at the dining table, sipping a cup of coffee while turning the pages of the Gotham newspaper.
As much as he tried to get out of visiting his old home, he couldnāt deny that there was a part of him that enjoyed being here. Even if Jump felt more like home now, he would always be a little fond of his adopted home.
He heard Alfredās footsteps approach as he entered the dining room with a polished silver tray in hand.
āSome toast, Master Richard?ā he asked, setting a rolled-up newspaper in front of Dick.
āThanks, Alfred, but you know I can make my breakfast by myself.ā
āOf that, I am aware, Master Richard,ā he said offhandedly whilst placing the toast beside Dickās coffee.
Dick chuckled as the older gentleman walked away, unrolling the Jump City newspaper he had delivered.
Dick figured that Bruce would be keeping tabs on his city, so it was no surprise that he had a subscription to have their paper delivered. It also meant that Dick could read it any time he was away from them. Even if he had access to the communicator and the Titansā network, having that piece of Jump City with him still made him feel a little less homesick.
He opened the paper and began scanning the news.
New mayor to be elected soon; campaigns running in earnest.
The new baby hippo born at the zoo; mum is in good condition.
Jump Elementary breaks new records for reading scores.
Dick smiled.
He had quickly become fond of this city. Its citizens and their vast potential. He turned the page again and saw a spread of the Titans at their recent visit to the newly unveiled Jump Botanical Gardens.
The photograph had caught them all in a chaotic moment.
Beast Boy was making faces at something or someone out of the frame. Raven looked deeply unimpressed with everything surrounding her. Cyborg was holding his belly, laughing at whatever Beast Boy had done.
Starfire stood in the middle of them all, smiling sweetly at the camera.
Dick frowned.
āWho took this?ā
Alfred, who had returned to refill his coffee, glanced down.
āThe photographer, I believe.ā
āNo, I meanā¦ā Dick gestured to the picture. āI don't even remember them taking this.ā
Dick looked a little closer, Alfred peering over his shoulder.
Robin stood next to Beast Boy in the background. He wasn't looking at the camera.
He was looking at Starfire.
His expression was...soft.
He quickly turned the page and set the newspaper aside.
āInteresting article?ā Alfred asked.
āIt was just about the Botanical Gardens,ā Dick grumbled, smearing butter on his toast.
āAnd yet you seemed rather engrossed by the accompanying photograph.ā
Dick took a bite of toast.
āI was checking to make sure Beast Boy wasn't doing anything embarrassing.ā
āHow responsible.ā
Dick nodded and reached for his coffee.
Alfred picked up the abandoned newspaper.
āOh my.ā
āWhat?ā
āIt appears the photographer was quite fortunate.ā
Dick looked up despite himself.
āWhatās that supposed to mean?ā
āThe lighting is excellent.ā
Dick relaxed.
āAnd,ā Alfred continued mildly, āhe has managed to capture you looking at Miss Starfire with remarkable affection.ā
Dick froze, coffee halfway to his mouth.
āThatās not affection.ā
āNo?ā
āI was just...looking in her direction.ā
āI see.ā
āShe just happened to be standing there.ā
āDirectly in front of your gaze, yes.ā
Dick set his mug down, letting out an exasperated sigh.
āAlfred, there is nothing to read into.ā
Alfred folded the newspaper neatly.
āOf course.ā
He placed the folded newspaper on the table and simply stood beside Dick, staring resolutely at the wall ahead of them. Dick looked up at him and narrowed his eyes.
āWhat?ā
āI believe, Master Richard, that denial is a river in Egypt."
Dick glared at him, catching the slight smirk that crept on the butlerās face.
āIām not denying anything, Alfred.ā
Alfred nodded, āI believe that you believe so, sir.ā
Silence settled between them as neither was willing to back down.
Dick broke first, huffing as he sank into his chair.
āJust say what you want to say, Alfred.ā
Alfred lowered his gaze to the teenager and spoke softly.
āI merely wish to acknowledge that you are quite taken with Miss Starfire - ā
Dick groaned and buried his face in his hands.
ā - and that there is no shame in harbouring a crush.ā
āI don't have a crush on Starfire,ā Dick groaned into his hands.
Alfred nodded with perfect seriousness.
āVery good, sir.ā
Dick sighed, lowering his hands but refusing to meet Alfredās eyes.
āWeāre just friends, Al.ā
āA splendid foundation for a relationship.ā
Dick let out another exasperated sigh and looked squarely into the old gentlemanās kind eyes.
āAlfred.ā
āMaster Richard.ā
āI do not have feelings for her.ā
Alfred looked down at Dick with a soft smile.
āMaster Richard, every time I have known someone insist, repeatedly, that they do not have a crushā¦ā Alfred straightened the silver tray under his arm. āā¦they have invariably been quite hopelessly in love.ā
Dickās eyes widened.
āIām not in love with her!ā
Alfred ignored the outburst and began making his way out of the dining room.
āIf it is any consolation, Master Richardā¦ā he said as he walked away. āā¦I find that you have excellent taste.ā
Dick pushed himself out of his chair, calling after Alfredās receding figure.
āIām not in love with her!ā
When Alfred had disappeared from view, Dick collapsed back into his chair. He opened the newspaper again and looked back down at the photograph.
Before he realised it, the corner of his own mouth had begun to lift.
He shook the smile from his face the moment he noticed it.
"...It's still not a crush," he muttered.

Authorās note: I love making Robin squirm.
the pedal's down, my eyes are closed
Robin has a secret. He still isn't totally convinced he got away with it. He still thinks Slade may have been pretending not to know this whole time and that he might wrench open the door to Robin's bedroom any moment now, sneering, "Did you really think I wouldn't notice?" But he's almost sure his secret is safe here, under his covers and closed inside his fist: a scrap of vivid purple fabric from Starfire's outfit.

RobStar Week Prompt 2: Trust
I had way too much fun with this one. Happy day 2! @robxstar
------------------
Nightwing gave himself one last look in the mirror. The suit fit fine, even with his Nightwing suit underneath it. Props to Alfred for always taking care of his tailoring needs, even when he was miles away.
He fussed with his hair, but the unruly mess refused to cooperate.. It had grown out a bit more than usual so it flopped forward in front of his mask. Heād long since abandoned the gel routine and was content with letting it fall naturally. He gave it one more ruffle and decided the unkempt look was the way to go. He sighed.
Letās just get this over with.
He huffed as he stepped out of his room, stuffed his hands into his pockets and made his way to the common room. He was early so at least he could relax a bit while the others got ready. Maybe play some video games to pass the time.
The event was meant to be pretty glam. A charity ball for celebrities and philanthropists across the country held to celebrate and support their little city. The Titans had received an invitation at the beginning of the year and there had been months of back and forth between the members about whether or not they should go.Ā
Starfire and Beast Boy were all for it. After all, they were kind of the face of the team when it came to charity work and volunteering.. The hospital had developed a program just for them to visit children every month and both the fire brigade and police force ran youth programs with Starfire as their surprise guest to visit schools.Ā
Even Raven got on board as she understood the importance of having been part of mental health programs for Jumpās disadvantaged communities. More funds would allow her to gain access to more resources and extend her reach to people in need. Maybe even build her own clinic.
Naturally, Cyborg came around too. The head of tech start-ups were expected to turn up so there was an opportunity for networking.
And therein lay the problem for Nightwing. These things were a magnet for the rich and famous to network to their heartās content. And no one was richer or more famous than a certain Bruce fucking Wayne.Ā
He groaned. The chance of having to interact with Bruce as his vigilante self was not one that he relished. He was praying to any and all gods that he could just avoid him. But knowing Bruce, heād find a way to sneak in an interaction.
He pulled at his tie, feeling as though it was getting tighter the more he thought about the event.
Maybe there'll be an alert. I get āattackedā. Suit's ruined. Shame. Can't exactly attend a gala in tights.
...Alfred would murder me.
He abandoned that thought quickly.
I could dislocate my shoulder. Iāve done that before. Shouldnāt be too hard. I can just pretend I was tripped and then -
āNightwing?ā
He swiveled to find Starfireās head peeping out of her room.Ā
āOh, Nightwing! I have been waiting for someone to walk past.ā
He looked closer at her and noticed that her shoulders were bare, her hair cascading behind them in loose waves. Without seeing the rest of her, one could easily assume that she was naked. Nightwing gulped.
āPlease, I am having some trouble zipping up my dress. Can you do it?ā
He felt his feet move before his brain caught up to answer.
āUhā¦yeah, sure. āCourse I can.ā
Starfire smiled before disappearing back into her room.
When Nightwing stepped into the room, he fought hard not to react to the scene in front of him. Starfire stood before him, swooping her hair to the front of one shoulder to present her back to him. She wore a purple strapless, tight-fitting dress that she held up to her chest with one hand.
The door closed behind him.
He froze.
The zip on the back of her dress was done up half way.
āThe zip seems to be caught.ā
He stepped forward, unsure of himself.Ā
āUmā¦yeah, I can get this, just let meā¦ā
He pinched the zip with one hand and rested his other gently on the small of Starfire's back to keep the dress taut.Ā
He fought to keep his focus on the zip. He couldnāt let his eyes wander. Not up where her bare shoulders shimmered in the moonlight coming in from the window. Or down to see how well the dress hugged her form. Nope, just straight on the zipper.
āStar, I donāt think itās gonna close,ā Nightwing said, defeated.
Starfire sighed and turned slightly so that he could see her profile.Ā
āI thought this might be an issue. No matter, I have another. Can you please unzip me?ā
Oh shit.Ā
His eyes dropped to the zipper.
Do zippers always go that low?
He cleared his throat.
āYeah, sure.ā
He slowly pulled the zipper down, trying not to follow the contours of her body and definitely not looking at the exposed skin of her back.
Before he could even reach the end of the tantalizing trail, Starfire moved away from him, dropping the dress to the ground and stepping out from it.
Nightwingās brain froze.
Lace.Ā
Strapless bra.
A thong.
Black.
His neurons clicked.
āGah! Starfire!ā he yelled out, shifting his gaze towards the wall to his right.
āYes?ā he heard her say, completely unaffected by their circumstances.
āI donāt - I didnāt - Donāt you want me to leave before you get changed?āĀ
He could hear her opening her wardrobe and rustling clothes and hangers.
āNightwing, you have seen me in swimming attire, I do not see how this is any different.ā
āI mean, yeah, but - ā
Nightwing felt his face flush.
āFriends donāt usually walk around in their underwear in front of each other.ā
He could hear fabric rustling as Starfire pulled out of the wardrobe what he assumed was another dress.
āYou and the boys walk around topless quite often. I do not see the point in hiding my form from you.ā
Nightwing was speechless.Ā
He let his eyes fall down towards the discarded dress on the floor, defeated. He stared at the purple fabric on the floor. Similar colour to her uniform, but covered in sequins that shimmered in the moonlight.
Nightwing dreaded how many people would be staring at her if she had worn that.
He wouldnāt admit that heād be one of them.
He listened intently to her movements. He heard her unzip another dress.
Donāt look, donāt look, donāt look, donāt look.
He couldnāt help it. He blamed it on his very well developed peripheral vision.
He caught her as she held the dress down in front of her, stepping her legs into it.Ā
Black.Ā
Just like her underwear.Ā
She drew the dress higher, rolling her hips as the silk clung to the curve of her waist before gliding over it.
Nightwingās eyes widened before he pried them away. He could feel his palms getting sweaty.
How did I get into this position?
Starfire walked back to him, standing where she did before, over the old purple dress.
Nightwing lifted his head up towards her as she moved her hair, presenting her back to him again.
This dress was similar in style to the first one, but this one was plain silk, swaying as Starfire moved. Nightwing ignored the fact that it seemed tighter than the other one.
How was this dress both better and worse than the last?
Nightwing held his breath.
Her shoulders were exposed, as was her whole back, save for the strap of her bra.
The zipper hung low, just above her glutes.Ā
She had back dimples.
Nightwing bit his lip.
āNightwing?ā
He jolted back to awareness.
āRight,ā he said sheepishly, zipping up the dress smoothly and lamenting losing the previous view.
Starfire smoothed the silk down over herself, and before he could stop himself, his eyes followed the slow path of her hands. She swept her hair over one shoulder before turning to him with a reassuring smile.
āI have no qualms with you seeing me in my underwear, Nightwing,ā she said, stepping away from him.
āYou are my best friend, after all. I trust you with my life. Why would I not trust you with my body?.ā
Nightwing coughed at that, rubbing the back of his neck.
āUm, yeah, thanks Star.ā
Best friend.
Sure.
Starfireās face fell before contemplating him.
āMay I ask you a question?ā
āSure, Star.ā
She walked away to pick up a brush and began brushing her hair in front of her mirror. Nightwing finally got a proper look at her. Her long hair draped over her back, the black dress hugging tightly as she moved. With the moon shining on her, she looked almost ethereal. Goddess-like.
āMany of our friends have begun to address me as Kory,ā she began. āI had told you quite some time ago of my birth name.ā
Her eyes locked onto him in the reflection.Ā
āWhy do you not use it?ā
Nightwing was genuinely surprised at the question.
āI guess Iām just so used to calling you Starfire. Do you want me to call you Kory?ā
Starfire put her brush down and turned back to him, smiling as she stepped towards him.
āI do not mind what you call me, I simply wished for you to know that I trust you.ā
Nightwing smiled, letting out a soft chuckle.
āNoted. And for the recordā¦I like āKoryā. It suits you.ā
Nightwing watched as her eyes sparkled and a loose strand of her hair fell over her shoulder as she giggled sweetly.
Nightwing paused, looking down to think for some time.
āIs something wrong?ā
He lifted his face to meet her eyes.
āNo, I just thoughtā¦since you trust me with your name, it would only be fair that I trust you with mine.ā
Starfireās eyes widened, her hands lifting slightly in response.
āOh, you do not have to Nightwing, I know you greatly value your privacy - ā
āItās fine,ā he said, a confident smile on his face.
āThose who know me as a civilian usually call me Dick.ā
ā...Dick?ā
Oh, wow.
Nightwing felt like he had been hit by a truck.
He coughed, face reddening.
āYeah, thatās it.ā
He saw Starfire tilting her head down, as if running the name through her mind to figure out how she felt about it. All of a sudden, Nightwing felt self-conscious.
āApologies, but does that word not have another definition?ā she asked, more curious than anything.
āUhā¦yeah, itās taken on a different kind of connotation. But itās also pretty well known as a nickname.ā
āSo, you have a full name? Like mine?ā
āYeahā¦ā
Nightwing wondered if he should say.
Fuck it.
āMy actual name is Richard.ā
Her reaction surprised him. A slow smile spread across her face and it seemed like she was looking at him for the first time.
She breathed out his name, āRichardā.
She didn't rush it.
She said it carefully, almost reverently, as though testing the shape of it.
His pulse stumbled. Every nerve in his body suddenly went on high alert.
He smiled back at her.
āKory.ā
Maybe this night wonāt be so bad after all.

I'm so tempted to write what happens at the charity ball. Maybe another time.
Robstar Week Day 2, July 18th: Trust/Fidelity
For todayās prompt, I wanted to draft a short little fanfic that brings back the handsome alien man Starfire was crushing over on Tamaran š«¢š«¢š«¢ I will admit, I believe Robin is slightly out of character here, but it works for the story. Not that much out of character though, who knows, maybe she caught him on a bad day LOL. Anyways, enjoy! Happy Day 2! āļøā¤ļø
The Guarding of the Girlfriend
A typical day for the Teen Titans is much different from the average personās usual. Today, Robin and Starfire have returned from a trip to Tamaran. This was their 3rd trip together since Robin started insisting to come along. More specifically, he joins her for endeavors where she needs to fulfill the dreaded āprincess dutiesā to make it less taxing for her. And she does very much appreciate it.
The trips always have some sort of awkwardness to them since he is not as familiar with Tamaran as Starfire is. However, what really made this trip awkward was that the guard who attended to Starfireās every need was the man that introduced her almost husband. Yeah, that one. The man with the long red hair, chiseled body, and long stature. The one that she took an interest in!!! To say the least, Robin was not happy. Although Starfire was polite and never entertained it, Robin definitely saw him showering her with compliments and borderline flirting her with. By some miracle, Robin kept it together. Especially since he knew that if he caused a scene, back to the dungeons he may go, and he didnāt want a bad rep on her home planet.
He bottled up the anger and jealously inside until they touched back down on Earth. That was when he really became distant, which did not go unnoticed by Starfire. Starfire is not one to let something go, especially when it came to Robin, so after an hour or two of him brooding and avoiding her, she approached him.
āRobin, you have been acting very strange since we have returned from Tamaran. Is there a matter that is bothering you?ā
Robin curtly replied, āNo, Iām fine, just tiredā.
Starfire may have trouble understanding earth language and culture at times, however, his response being a lie was clear as day to her in this moment. And, similar to their time in Tokyo, she might know why he was upset.
She countered, āAre you angry because of how the guard who was assisting me was treating me?ā.
Well when she words it like thatā¦
āI uh- I mean, couldnāt you see that he was- you know what, never mindā, Robin spit out.
āRobin, I completely understand if his choice of words was an annoyance you. I want to be honest, I was, in fact, aware that he was doing the flirting with me. I did my best to appease him, yet not give him any indication that I was interested. I have a boyfriend and he is youā.
Robin, speaking before thinking, responded, āYou were so interested in him before. I remember you were. So none of his advances affect you now? You were real excited when you thought he was your new husbandā.
Starfire was shocked by Robinās sudden burst of intense jealously. She didnāt think he had been so affected by that day, although, she understood why it could have been traumatic. He almost lost the love of his life foreverā¦
However, she made sure to nip this thought of his in the bud now and forever. She began to explain,
āRobin, I do not and will not ever want a Tamaranean man. I want you and only you. Yes, at that time, I was enticed by him. However, also during that time we were not romantically involved. Although, I did want to be. Even though I had interest in him then, my love for you had not completely faded. I was simply trying to make the best out of a bad situationā.
As Robin began to calm his anger and allow his face to soften with compassion, she continued.
āThe men of Tamaran are very assertive, veryā¦harsh with women. Some may feel as though they are entitled to pair with them. Tamaran prioritizes relationships, especially in the terms of successfully maintaining the population. Marriage is also important to keep powerful lineage. Love on Tamaran is soā¦forced. There is a sort ofā¦expectation to entertain the men who look at you. That is why I was never interested in being with someone on Tamaran. That is why I fell in love with you. You are soā¦caring, patient, and most importantly, gentle with me. It is so freeing to not feel the pressures of love or marriage. Here, I am free of those confines. I am free to justā¦be. I also am free to be with someone who I truly love and someone I know truly loves meā.
After this explanation any remaining jealously that had been in Robinās body completely evaporated. He then looked at her with a tender glance, one that Starfire also shared with him, and they joined into a tight embrace.
As soon as they broke apart, apologies came spilling out of Robin.
āIām so sorry I acted like that Star. That wasā¦beautiful. I never knew much about what happens on Tamaran besides the betrothals. But, Iām happy youāre free here too. I just got really upset at that guy crushing over you right in front of me, but from now on, Iāll try and stop myself knowing that what we have is powerful enough to combat any intrusionsā.
Starfire beamed and replied, āGood, because that is very trueā.

RobStar Week 2026, Day 3 - Denial
(I had fun with this one, I am a sucker for the other boys absolutely reading him for filth regarding his feelings for Starfire. Enjoy!)
---
This was not happening.
Robin pressed both hands over his flaming face, peeking out between his fingers to the mortifying sight before him.
"Being with you makes me feel weightless, like I could take some of your powers and fly," Beast Boy was reading, from the glitter-covered pink cardstock card he had found on Robin's worktable, when he and Cyborg had come to fetch him from the evidence room for dinner.
The changeling glanced up and squinted at Robin.
"Dude, is this a love letter to Starfire?" he asked.
"No," Robin denied.
Cyborg was now leaned over Beast Boy's shoulder, looking at the conspicuous pink card as well. "I dunno man, it seems awfully mushy for just a random note that clearly has Starfire as the subject." The older boy grinned. "Which, you know, good for you. I'm glad you two are making progress."
His hands dropped away from his face and his teeth grit as he stalked over and grabbed it back. "It's just something I wrote for her birthday. It's private."
"Oooooh we're writing her poems for her birthday!" Beast Boy teased, waggling eyebrows suggestively.
"Next he'll be composing her sonnets," Cyborg gushed, pressing hands over his cheeks.
"Grow up," Robin muttered, putting the card back on the desk where Beast Boy had found it. "I can make her a nice gift for her birthday. It's not a big deal."
"It kinda is, I mean, have you ever gotten her a birthday gift like this before?" Cyborg probed. "A hand-written card with a custom poem?"
"Wellā" Robin started to speak, then felt his ears heat up. "No."
Beast Boy tugged at the corner of the card. "And like... on pink glittery paper?"
The heat in his ears spread to his face again. "They were out of normal cardstock at the print store," he said.
"Yeah that's likely," muttered Beast Boy.
"Look, I don't understand why you're bugging me about this so much," Robin said, irritated, trying to move past them, maybe get them moving to the door so he could escape this conversation.
Cyborg took one step into his path to block him, arms crossed. "Mmm, maybe some of us are tired of you dancing around your feelings for Starfire and are trying to give you a little nudge of encouragement," he suggested.
"I don't have feelings for Starfire," Robin said flatly.
"Uh, yeah you do," Beast Boy countered, now sitting casually on Robin's worktable and swinging his feet.
"No, I don't," Robin insisted, vein throbbing in his forehead.
Cyborg gave an eyeroll that swiveled his entire head. "Riiiiiiiight," he drawled. "So when you went braindead when she kissed you when we all first met and got all obsessed about trying to find her and immediately wanted to protect her from the Gordaniansā"
"āAnd took her on a ferris wheel ride with cotton candy and fireworks, alone, just the two of youā" Beast Boy interjected.
Nodding, Cyborg picked back up. "āAnd then took her on an honest-to-goodness date, on Valentine's Day no lessā"
"āAnd danced with her at promā"
"-And got all mopey and jealous 'cause she almost got married to someone else..." Cyborg leaned back and looked down on him for emphasis. "...you're telling me you don't have any specific feelings for her?"
Robin was doing a very good job at avoiding eye contact, his face bright red like his tunic.
"I'm not in love with Starfire..." he mumbled.
"But you do like her," Beast Boy said.
The object of their badgering was silent for a long, pregnant moment. Robin's expression shifted softly, his flush fading, features loosening.
"...Yeah," he said quietly, suddenly all serious. "I do."
"There, see?" Cyborg chirped brightly. "Was that so hard to admit?"
The Boy Wonder put his hands over his face again, smearing them down with weary aggravation. "Cyborg, if you knew the kind of lecture I'd be getting if I was back home in Gotham..." he just groaned.
"Man, screw the Bat if he's that much up in your personal business," Cyborg told him, rolling his eyes again. "Love ain't nothing to be ashamed about." He grinned. "We got your back."
Beast Boy popped off the workdesk. "Yeah, anytime you need a wingman just come get us."
Robin let a chagrined uptilt hit his lips. "Last time you guys weren't exactly that helpful," he pointed out.
Both of them looked decently embarrassed, glancing aside.
"Well..." Cyborg trailed, sheepishly.
Relaxing a bit now, Robin let himself be encouraged by the other boys' support. As much as he abhorred their teasing, sometimes it really was what he needed to stop being so up in his head, denying the truth right in front of his nose.
"Thanks guys. The card's not finished yet so... just don't spoil the surprise for her okay?"
"Wouldn't dream of it," they both promised, as all three of them turned to exit the room and join the girls up in OPS.

RobStar Week Prompt 1: Firsts
Hi! For so many years I've followed RobStar week as a spectator. Now I'm actually participating! I won't be able to do all the prompts but I figure this will be a fun writing exercise to pump out as many as I can (if I have ideas for them). Happy Robin/Starfire week! @robxstar
-----------------------------
"You're benching her?" Beast Boy repeated. "Seriously?"
Robin didn't even look at him.
"Stay out of this, Beast Boy."
"Dude, you can't do that!" Beast Boy said, stepping beside Starfire. "This was just our first major job together as a team! And she saved all of those people!"
"She directly disobeyed orders."
"So what?!"
Robin whipped around, staring down the changeling.
"It's insubordination," he challenged.
Beast Boy took a step forward, squaring up to the team leader. "Man, what's your problem?! Everybody was saved!"
"No," Robin snapped. "Everybody survived because we got lucky."
Starfire folded her arms despite the dried blood smeared across her clothes.
"I do not believe saving innocent lives should be considered luck. You have tasked me with protecting innocent lives, and that is what I did."
Robin rounded on her. "You were given direct orders. It wasn't your decision to make."
Starfire faced Robin directly, drawing herself up to challenge him.
"It became my decision when I was the only one there capable of rescuing them."
"The mission was coordinated for a reason, Starfire."
"Yes, and the situation changed."
"It always changes! That's why we have a plan!"
Beast Boy scoffed. "Yeah, if your plan was to let all those people die."
Robin glowered at him. "The plan was to have everyone covering each other."
"The team wasn't there!" Beast Boy said, his voice raised in exasperation.
"Because she broke formation!"
"Oh, come on!"
Cyborg finally stepped in, holding his palms out between the two.
"Alright, everybody needs to chill out."
"No, Cyborg."
Everyone turned to Starfire, her eyes beginning to glow in frustration.
"I did nothing wrong. I do not deserve this treatment."
"You got hurt, Starfire!" Robin bellowed back.
"I am a warrior! This is not the first time I have been injured, and it will certainly not be my last."
"It could've been!"
Silence.
The words escaped Robin's mouth before he could stop them. He stood still, his face just as shocked as the others.
"And there it is," Raven broke the silence.
Robin shot her a look. "What?"
"That's the real problem here," Raven said.
Robin frowned. "What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means," Raven said flatly, "you've spent the last ten minutes pretending that this is all about following orders."
Cyborg immediately began nodding, crossing his arms.
"Glad someone finally said it," he said dryly.
Raven ignored him.
"Your problem isn't that she disobeyed you."
Robin stood firm.
"It is."
"No, it's not."
Beast Boy leaned into Cyborg, whispering, "I think she's winning."
Cyborg nodded. "Man, I know she's winning."
Robin sighed. "Star, you disobeyed a direct order. That's my problem."
Starfire bristled. "I could not -"
"You thought she was dead," Raven interjected.
The room became very still.
Robin stared at her in shock. "...How do you -"
"Empath," Raven said simply.
"Oh."
"I felt you panic from the other side of the city."
Robin had the decency to look at least slightly embarrassed.
"I wasn't panicking," he mumbled, mostly to himself.
Raven raised an eyebrow.
Starfire's gaze softened as she stepped toward the ebony-haired hero.
"You believed I had perished?"
Robin couldn't seem to face her.
"When the building came downā¦" he said quietly, "your communicator cut out."
He swallowed.
"I couldn't see you. I thoughtā¦"
Starfire watched him carefully.
"I thought I had sent you to your death."
The room stilled.
"I did not know that you believed this."
Robin finally found it in him to look at her. His eyes met hers, and he allowed himself to truly face her injured form for the first time that night.
"To be fair, Starā¦" Cyborg interrupted, scratching the back of his head. "Watching you catch half an apartment building wasn't exactly relaxing. It's not like any of us knew that you could do that."
Starfire tilted her head at him. "I was aware of what I could handle."
"You were literally screaming," Cyborg shot back.
"I was exerting myself."
"You were screaming, 'IT IS VERY HEAVY!'"
"It was very heavy."
He couldn't help it. Robin chuckled.
"I do not understand why this is humorous." Starfire looked genuinely confused.
Robin ran a hand through his soot-covered hair, settling into a more relaxed stance.
"You seriously announced that the building was heavy?"
"I believed the information might be useful."
Beast Boy finally cracked, laughing at the situation unfolding. Cyborg and Raven joined in with their own smiles.
Robin shook his head, trying very hard not to laugh.
"You are unbelievable."
"I have been informed this is one of my more admirable qualities."
For the first time since returning to the Tower, the tension eased.
Robin sighed. "I'm still mad."
Starfire nodded.
"But not because you saved those people."
Starfire waited.
"I'm mad becauseā¦" he admitted, "ā¦this was our first real mission together." He gestured toward the city outside. "An entire neighborhood was falling apart."
His voice became quieter.
"I've spent years training to keep control when everything goes wrong." He looked at Starfire. "Then you ignored the plan."
"Because innocent people would have perished."
"I know."
Starfire looked out the window before returning her gaze to Robin.
"I would make the same choice again."
Robin closed his eyes.
"ā¦I know."
That somehow made it worse.
Raven looked between the two teenagers.
"We've known each other forā¦" She glanced at Beast Boy.
"Like⦠three weeks?" Beast Boy offered.
"Thirty-two days," Cyborg corrected.
"You counted?" Beast Boy asked.
"I keep records."
"Nerd."
Raven continued, looking between Robin and Starfire.
"You've known each other for thirty-two days."
She folded her arms.
"Trust doesn't appear overnight."
Starfire looked at Robin.
"I am sorry."
Robin looked back.
"I shouldn't have yelled."
"You yelled quite loudly when I had caught the building."
"ā¦Yeah."
"I could hear you over the emergency vehicles."
"ā¦Yeah."
"I was approximately two blocks away."
"ā¦Okay, I get it."
Beast Boy snorted.
Cyborg laughed outright.
Even Robin groaned.
"Can everyone stop piling on?"
"No," Raven said.
Starfire stepped closer, her voice soft.
"I do not regret saving those civilians."
Robin nodded.
"Butā¦" She hesitated. "ā¦I regret making you believe I had died."
Robin met her eyes.
"And next timeā¦" He held out his hand. "ā¦next time we figure it out together."
Starfire smiled - a small, genuine smile that reached her eyes.
"I would like that."
She clasped his forearm.
Beast Boy immediately wiped an imaginary tear from his eye.
"Awwā¦they're bonding"
Robin didn't even look at him.
"We're resolving a tactical disagreement."
"Give it a few months. They'll be finishing each other's battle plans," Cyborg joked.
Starfire tilted her head. "I do enjoy planning."
Robin opened his mouth.
Stopped.
"ā¦That could actually work."
Beast Boy threw his hands into the air. "Oh, great. We created two Robins."
Raven sighed. "They're going to be impossible."
Cyborg chuckled. "They're gonna be a good team."
Robin looked at Starfire. For the first time since the mission, he wasn't seeing the reckless alien who had ignored his orders. He was seeing someone who would throw herself into impossible danger without hesitation if it meant saving lives.
Starfire, meanwhile, wasn't seeing an overbearing commander. She was seeing someone who had been terrified of losing her.
Neither of them said it.
Not yet.
It was far too early for that.
This is adorable. Well done!
RobStar Week 2026, Day 2 - Trust/Fidelity
(Kind of a two-fer like my Shimmer/Shine fic in 2021, with two separate and mostly unrelated sections hitting both parts of the prompt. First one is set closer to the end of the show proper, second one is set a few years into my extended headcanon timeline. Enjoy!)

He was down to his last two smoke pellets and one grapple line, and the skirmish wasn't showing any signs of stopping or coming to an end.
Robin grimaced, starting to wish he had stayed closer to the rest of the Titans when the ambush had first happened. But then, itĀ hadĀ looked like Joker's little hodgepodge teamup collection of the Titans' regular trouble-makers had been given instructions to deliberately separate them.
Still, he should have realized their strategy earlier, and given orders for the Titans to make their way back together.

Starfire wasn't entirely certain that their daughter, being only half Tamaranian, would be able to fly as easily or as quickly as the newborns on her own planet could.
But, in fact, it only took a couple weeks for Mar'i's flying abilities to manifest.
She had been in the kitchen, puzzling over the instructions for the powdered formula, when a startled shout came from the nursery.
She whipped about, speeding straight down the hall and bursting through the door, to the sight of Robin standing baffled and consternated and staring helplessly up towards the ceiling, where a giggling, burbling four-week old Mar'i was very happily and lazily drifting about several feet out of reach, kicking little socked feet in her pale green onesie.
