Pumpkin Spice || Self-Para
Robyn wasn't one for the holidays, really. Reminded her too much of days long past and hurt long ago - memories that weren't pleasant ones. Sure, the leaves turning and Halloween were nice, and who could hate Thanksgiving? Really, it wasn't the holidays in general that bothered Robyn. It was the people.
Everyone was mooning over their girlfriend or boyfriend and whining about their family, there were thoughts flying everywhere. And when it was nearly three months of that nonsense? Things got hard for Robyn to block out. The bar didn't help much, as her usual patrons tended to be the ones with more thoughts in their heads. It was exhausting, and the season tended to leave Robyn entirely drained.
Of course, she always decorated the place a bit, no matter her feelings about the holidays. Changing out the golden fairy lights across the ceiling for orange and purple ones, and putting out a few pumpkins and black cats really was as much as she did decor-wise for Halloween. There was a bit more outside, but she usually left that up to the rest of the staff. This year it seemed they had a few hay bales and scarecrows, with some signs and lights. It wasn't her problem to take down or put up, so Robyn couldn't care less.
Where her sprucing up really came into play was the menu. The bar had always served some food, she had all the licenses. Bar food, nothing special. But when it came to the holidays, the menu became something to look at. There were desserts and specialty dishes, all kinds of things. She even had the place open up around noon to the public and close except for over 21s at seven. Robyn liked to bake, and she had a couple people on staff that could cook. That's how they kept the place afloat sometimes, though she was sure that she could always pay the bills.
But the bar was hers, and the apartment upstairs was more home than she ever could have asked for. And hell if she was ever going to let them go. Robyn would have pumpkin pies overflowing in her house for a few weeks, and then all the Christmas desserts, but hey. A little extra sugar in her diet couldn't hurt, and it would keep the place busy. And maybe, somehow, she'd learn how to tune it all out.
