Trans Visibility Day

As Trans Visibility Day comes to a close, I’m happy to recognize that I’m coming to the end of my first year out as nonbinary. I’ve been going by they/them pronouns since about May of last year and it’s been a rough ride but things are looking better. Unfortunately I’ve lost a lot on the way to gaining what I needed to recognize my own self worth.

I realize that the past is the past but I can’t help but reflect and recognize my own faults and realize that I have more love and thanks to give than hate and resentment.

Firstly I’d like to thank the team at @rockandriotcomic for introducing me to the idea of nonbinary and genderqueer people. They helped a sixteen year old me find that maybe there was more to this gender stuff than was previously planned.

Secondly I want to thank my theater company I’m with now. They’ve made great strides and bounds to support me and use the correct pronouns (when I’m off stage of course, whatever gender I am onstage is up to my director and the playwright). Especially big thanks to my director who at 60 years old, he’s adapting to using they/them pronouns for the first time in his life.

Thirdly, to Alex, wherever you are. I know we don’t talk anymore, but you were there for me when I needed someone. Thank you, I love you.

And finally to my first true love. You helped me realize what I needed and what I didn’t. Some part of me still blames myself for what happened in front of that library, and the year leading up to our separation. I still regret it, but where we are now is good and I hope we can hold onto that friendship. Thanks for those almost three years together.

If I could turn back time and speak to myself two years ago, four years ago, hell, ten years ago? I would remind myself to look in a mirror more often and recognize my differentness, not to be ashamed, but to embrace it earlier so I could be a better realized person. 

If you are reading this and you feel lost and alone, trapped in your own body, it does get better. Find the people who will care for you, and hold onto them desperately. They’ll take care of you when no one else will. You are never alone.

Hey guys! I was having issues with international orders getting lost, and it was all happening while I was super busy with work and it was getting too stressful to deal with. I’ve managed to solve the current order issues, but I put my books on ‘sold out’ so I could have time to catch up on everything.
