Elizabeth “China Doll” Dickerson: as scanned from the 29 October 1953 issue of Jet magazine.

China Doll was a famous shake dancer in Harlem and elsewhere.  As a shake dancer, she also performed under the name Rosalee Takelle.  A photo of her wearing this same outfit, but billed as Rosalee, who performs “ancient Oriental temple dances”, can be found in the 27 November 1952 issue of Jet magazine.  In the late 1950s, China Doll left shake dancing behind to become a nightclub singer under the name Zabethe Wilde.
