I somehow managed to live 27 years without knowing Christian Seders were a thing. I'm pretty unsettled by this discovery, especially given that a) it's definitely appropriation, b) the modern Seder didn't exist in the time of Jesus so the last supper wasn't one, and c) let's not downplay the whole BLOOD LIBEL thing. What's your take on this?
About two-ish months ago I got into a discussion with a catholic coworker about passover and easter and she started telling me all about how her church hosts a christian seder and it took all my self-control not to explode.
If christians want to have some form of a seder where they twist the traditions into christ metaphors and whatnot, fine. But don't call it a seder because at that point, it very simply isn't one! Call it something else! It's the christians pretending that we are all one and the same and doing the same things that gets to me.
I don't care if christians want to create their own tradition, god knows they've taken on and "adapted" Jewish customs enough times throughout history, which is bad enough. But if it's going to happen anyway, I just don't like the pretending that they're having a seder when they clearly aren't.
