Three of Swords. Art by Dove (dovahcaine), from Star Crossed: A Queer Tarot.
vs lineup / blue writing + below "bios" are lance's notes, below the keep reading is a blank version of the lineup and the pngs
Lance McClain: (Protagonist) Aspiring idol and amateur detective! Still trying to figure myself out, totally the coolest guy you'll ever meet! I'm like the team leader or whatever, that's what I was back at the Garrison. Honestly I'm just trying to make the most of life, Hunk says I can be stupid but I don't think he understands what I'm going for most of the time. Kind of happy to be away from that dumb military school, it was weird there.
Keith Kogane: (Antagonist?) Apparently not his "actual" name? I don't know what his deal is. Everyone calls him the Galaxy Garrison's devil. Apparently he has a ton of medical and mental issues or something. Total prodigy. Doesn't look like it but an absolute powerhouse! He took out Commander Iverson's eye before he was kicked out. Kind of unstable but can be reliable, worth having on your side if you can tolerate the weird religious talk and cult shit, he's really into fate. Pidge gets on his case a lot, they fight often, Pidge sees him as an easy target. I think a lot of people do but don't have the balls to do anything. There was a rumor floating around that he was a cannibal but somehow he remained a lot of people's "hear me out", I don't know if he even counts?
Tsuyoshi Garrett: My childhood best friend. We used to be closer before we entered high school, I think that's true for a lot of friendships according to my mom. He's still mad at me for "dragging" him to the Galaxy Garrison but honestly he was thriving there. He likes mechanics and all that, loved to work on cars. He wants to be a doctor/paramedic, also a chef, or a mechanic, I wonder how he's going to settle on one. He's not as nice as he looks, he's gotten really good at being passive aggressive and stuff.
Pidge Gunderson: Fake name I think, maybe the same situation as Keith, I don't know. They confuse me, both them and Keith to be clear. He responds to anything and changes his answer constantly when you ask what he'd prefer to be called, I just ping-pong between he and they and it seems to work. They say they're the same age as the rest of us, in the 16-18 range, I doubt it. They're definitely 12 or 14 or something. They're also a huge dick! They value machines and the like higher than other people, I think Hunk is the only person he likes. Probably a victim of unrestricted internet access and landing in the wrong circles. That's my guess.
Takashi Shirogane: He worked at the Galaxy Garrison as a commander or teacher or something. He did a lot of recruiting too, I briefly met him when he came to my school, gotta say he's a good salesman. My mom always found him to be charming. He's super famous, has like a hundred missions under his belt. He loves the Garrison, borderline in love with that place I'm telling you. I don't know how to feel about him, he's really cool in concept but you spend more than a few minutes with him and he hits that uncanny valley effect. He and Keith know each other somehow, I don't know what their relationship is though, I never saw them interact at the Garrison. He's constantly watching the guy.
Princess Allura: She's the princess of Altea, she's an orphan which I think she and Keith bonded over? I don't know. They seem to surprisingly get along though there is some tension and fighting there. I'm kind of worried they might get together, Allura deserves better than a (rumored) cannibal. My mom would like her I think. She's really pretty. She's a total expert on war, bugs and all sorts of things, she's honestly kind of a dork. Really tall too. Kind of sounds british sometimes. I don't know why aliens sound british its weird man. I hope we can help her, she deserves it after all she's been through, we don't know everything yet but still. She says she's too old for me when I try to hit on her, I guess she's like a thousand years old but I don't know how that logic works out with human ages. I wonder if Keith is sabotaging me.

Compliment them. That person you think has their shit together and wouldn't need it or want to hear it. They do. They absolutely do. Their shit is dispersed. I promise you. It is a shambles.
I've had someone tell me to my face that they would compliment me, but for the fact that I already know this or that about myself. Huh???? No. Sorry.
No I don't. In my weaker moments I become an ungrateful mud monkey that has never once internalized a compliment
I adore being told you like me or something I've done. It sustains me, and in my weaker moments when I forget that life is good and happy, you might catch me before I fall.
You ever had someone catch you like that? You can do it too. The ones that catch you have been you in that moment before and know they will be again.
THANKS HUFFPO I'LL STOP SWALLOWING WHOLE POTATOES THAT'LL FIX ME
EXTREMELY FUCKING FUNNY WAY TO TALK ABOUT PRACTICAL EFFECTS
this makes it sound like they actually created real creatures to physically attack the cast
thank you to whoever made this meme, it's a big hit in the lab and sends microbiologists into hysterics
ok but the full translation is also extremely good

This is so fucking stupid. I can't believe I'm doing this. I never use reddit, sorry if I do something wrong.
I (a 19 yr old girl) was watching Star Trek TOS a few weeks ago with 3 other friends (one 18 yr old guy, the other two don't matter) over a video call. We get to the episode Amok Time, and long story short there's a scene where Captain Kirk's shirt gets ripped right across his pecs (it kinda looks like one of those boob window sweaters?? idk how to describe it I'm sorry)
So when Kirk's shirt gets ripped I say some dumb shit about him having fatty milkers and the two other friends laugh and we just start making tit jokes and making up increasingly stupid words for "boobs".
We watch a few more episodes then call it a day and disconnect the call, and a few minutes after disconnecting the call my guy friend (we'll call him Tom) messages me and brings up the Kirk boob jokes in passing, like he was trying to make it seem casual but I started feeling like he was bothered by it and wasn't telling me, you know? So I asked him if the tit jokes bothered him and he got really defensive and didn't really answer the question.
Later one of the other two people that was there (we'll call him Mark) messages me and tells me that my guy friend was mad at me. Apparently Tom had ranted to Mark about how William Shatner (the guy who played Kirk) was a huge inspiration to him as a kid and he thought I was being extremely disrespectful referring to his character (not even HIM, his CHARACTER) in such a derogatory way (as if William Shatner is gonna give a fuck that some teenage girl in central America said his old character had fat hooters, but I digress)
So Mark said I should apologize, I said it was stupid for Tom to have a temper tantrum over such a meaningless situation, Mark said that was mean, so I caved and apologized (and no it wasn't a backhanded apology, I messaged Tom and said I didn't mean to be disrespectful towards someone he looks up to and that I'd refrain from doing it in the future)
But then Tom continued to give me the silent treatment and fucking brings it up whenever we talk Star Trek and I ended up snapping at him that he was being childish for holding onto this for so long, and that I'd already apologized and I didn't see why this continued to be such an issue.
Tom is now giving an even harsher silent treatment. Mark sides with Tom for some reason, and the other friend just thinks this whole thing is funny. I don't think I'm the asshole, I'll admit it, but some outsider perspective would be nice. AITA?
the fact u didnt add some of the comments in the archives is so upsetting bc it means ppl r missing GEMS like these:

Btw if you want an example of actually cute and appropriate handling of a baby hippo in an accredited zoo with trained keepers, there’s always Fiona the Hippo at Cincinnati Zoo!
She was born premature and had to be hand raised initially
Fiona felt very safe with her keepers and she would regularly snuggle with them and snooze on their laps. They had to monitor her 24/7 and take feedings in shifts - and it was very uncertain whether she would even survive!
While you might say that it’s hypocritical to support free contact in one situation and not another, this is a situation where free contact was very much okay. They had to support Fiona like this as she was regularly needing medical intervention and needed to be constantly monitored around the clock.
What’s the difference between Fiona and Moo Deng’s situation? Agency and respect. Fiona was never harassed for views or forced into situations she didn’t want to be in.
The content they made with her was showing the process of hand raising a premature baby hippo. Even when they picked her up to put her in her pool she was never madly thrashing to get away.
The goal was always to transition her to be completely hands off and be with her mother Bibi. And her habitat is species appropriate with deep water for swimming in.
She was able to be reintroduced to her mother and grow up engaging in appropriate social behaviours in an enriching and species appropriate habitat.
And she’s now 7 years old and still thriving!
