Making mistakes is human and it can happen even for people who have been in the field for years.

Today I recieved my film back from my trusted lab. The color slide sheets where accidentaly cross processed. Now the people at the film lab refunded my money and I told them I know that it can happen I was not angry at them.

I know they have more work on top of other type of work they need to do with the rising demand on film and processing.

That said I managed to save the sheets in post which you can see below.

I'll leave by saying this be kind to your lab or anyone who does a service for you failing is human and it can happen to anyone. 😊

After studying some paintings and fine art work I love I wanted to re-edit an image I made a while back with the idea to make it look as I felt it, and what I felt was that I felt like a painter standing before an empty canvas waiting for that first paintbrush to be put on.

I am eager to know what you think of this!

I also shoot digital but I like to change it up and get creative using different post process techniques to get an interesting result.

One of the techniques I love is using textures found around my home with nature shots like the example below.

There is something satisfying and interesting with the feeling of home and nature. To me the example below feels like a paper negative.

Here is an example if why I am more of a morning person when it comes to nature or landscape related subjects.

The light is softer in the morning and that coupled with mist makes you still think you are dreaming.

I love doing these environmental portraits with the 4x5 system there is something about it that just hits the mark for me.

A portrait of a good friend of mine reminded me of an important lesson in portrait photography.

"It is one thing to take a portrait of someone, but it is something else when you can make the viewer care about the person in front of the lens."

This was taken on one of his low days but the warmth of the evening sun gently warmed up his skin to give him some comefort. I believe he enjoyed this very much.

One of the most dificult but rewarding medium for portrait photography is by far large format for me.

I've been busy rescanning the archive as well as scanning in new work like this one from a community garden which to me is very typical of the place but might be different to somewhere else.
