Roger De Muth with “Les petite Equireil cuisine” ceramic diorama.  The tiny squirrel kitchen. At the opening of the Cabinet of Curiosities exhibit in the Cazenovia Public Library.  If you look closely, “the squirrel with the pearl earring” is hanging on the refrigerator door on the right side.  Now, you know.

A small red clay tile with a portrait of Arnold Bocklin.  This is from my “Artist’s & Con-artists Series” of tiles.  The red clay is painted with a white underglaze, then a black brush portrait.  Next I put a thick layer of clear over the top.  The black line turns blue in the low fire kiln.  About 3x5 inches.

Inside the tile Cazenovia Tile Factory.  aka my studio.  Here are a stack of tiles that are ready to be painted.  I’m trying to do as many as I can before tomorrow night.  Wish me well.  The tiles depict 10 views of the Village of Cazenovia.

Le petit Ecureil cuisine.  -” The Tiny Squirrel Kitchen.”  Almost finished after many many hours of making tiny little objects, and painting them.  The Ceramic diorama will be for an upcoming show that opens in Cazenovia, NY in mid May.

Desktop in the studio.  There’s not much room left, so I’ve started making very small pieces to fill in the spaces.  Of note is the snake platter, severed hand of a paris pickpocket, and squirrel tape dispenser.  On the lower left, is the ceramic tile painting of paranoid Roger Ailes , and a stack of small 5x7″ paintings top left.  www.rogerdemuthceramics.com

I'm making progress on "Le Petit Ecureuil Cuisine." (Tiny Squirrel Kitchen.) I just need to paint a few more squirrels. Evidently, this family has good taste, as they hung their Vermeer in the frig for safe keeping... You know the painting... The squirrel with the pearl earring. www.rogerdemuthceramics.com

The squirrel kitchen is coming together. I’m positioning the objects, and glueing them onto each base piece.  Just trying out backgrounds now.  Stay tuned.

I’m trying to build a whole squirrel house and now concentrating on each of the rooms right now.  This is the squirrel kitchen, and it will have a wall in the back for the picture frame, window, shelf, and clock.  I’m basing my work loosely on the taxidermy museum of Walter Potter: http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/gallery/2013/sep/13/curious-world-walter-potter-pictures-taxidermist-victorian   Unfortunately, Walter used real animals for his displays, which is something we frown upon now.  I feel pretty good about clay as no animals were harmed in the making.
