Drawing Resources
Just a list of stuff that's been helpful for me in learning drawing in the last couple of months. Tutorials/Classes:
Chommangās Face Drawing Course (paid) beginner friendly
This helped me understand how to place features in a more structured way because I couldnāt for the life of me get the hang of the loomis method lol. Honestly life saver.
Artwood Classes (paid) If you like a structured approach with daily classes and a clear path for learning fundamentals + faces I think this is a good place to start. Iām a bit undisciplined and I draw when I like so this didnāt 100% work for me but the classes and tutorials were still good. They have beginner to advanced classes.I liked learning about more advanced theory like shape language here. I enjoy bouncing around classes just learning about stuff even tho Iām not 100% skilled enough to apply it cuz yolo and itās fun.Ā
Loish (paid)
I just like learning about other artistsā process, they have some tutorials on faces and stylization thatās interesting tho not really beginner friendly maybe itās more helpful for intermediate level skills
Book: You can draw in 30 days Super beginner friendly. I enjoyed working on this when I was starting out playing with drawing. Blog: https://www.clipstudio.net/how-to-draw Lots of good free stuff here. Best if youāre looking for something specific like, āhow to paint skinā, etc. Some thoughts on learning drawing:
Iām learning drawing for fun and I think what has been most helpful for me is having momentum in practice. Draw a lot. Even if itās shitty. It's so cliche, but it's true.Ā
Obsession is a good thing because it helps with the volume of practice. Drawing for a fandom is a nice way to get some energy and momentum. Itās fun to share obsessions with others. The trick is to get yourself a way to draw a lot. for a long period of time.
Another thing is to have a good teacher or some good theory that works as a compass while practicing.
Learning is non linear. I like mixing fundamental classes with advanced classes because itās fun. I think funmaxxxing is the most important part of a hobby :)
