FBi have featured all five Collarbones records as Album of the Week over the past 15 years.

Where would FBi Radio be without Collarbones, where would Collarbones be without FBi? It’s like the chicken and the egg question.

We played on the largest stage we had ever stepped foot on, at the historic, 2000-capacity Forum Theatre. Madonna has played there.

Shockingly, despite our sacrilege, we were invited to play again two years later.

Andy Hazel of the now non-existent, influential publication Mess + Noise wrote this prescient review:

“With more hyperbolic blog posts gushing about their mp3s than gigs, Collarbones are, fortunately, a revelation live.

Despite having the combined age of a typical M+N reader, they’re comfortable on stage and exude a cockiness that quickly becomes essential part of their show.

Instead of taking the obvious tropes of hip-hop, they take the confidence and throw it over some glitchy beats. They’re easy and woozy with the BPM and imaginative with their sounds.

A song introduced as “a hate anthem for microphone stands” brings some welcome unpredictability and edge to the main room, as well as eliciting some stellar dance moves both from the duo and the crowd.

They then outdo themselves with a ’90s hip-hop cover, or as one punter puts it “motherfuckers dropped some J-Lo!”

To close they press play on “some ’90s dance shit” before leaving their gear to dance and strike poses that even the typically solemn security guards crack up at.

Cult fandom or massive success awaits.”

We danced in the crowd after our first overseas show at Camp A Low Hum 2014 in Wainuiomata, New Zealand. It was a freakishly beautiful time.

While it might not be as glamorous as performing Turning with Flume in LA in front of 20,000 people and having Lorde wish you a happy birthday, this was no less important or formative.

POV: you walk into JB Hi-Fi and Die Young is being piped through the speakers. The air smells faintly of musk and tulips. You flip through the alternative section and see our name in Comic Sans.

People still buy CDs. Life is simple.
