Torches in the Wood
Status: WIP
Chapters: 6/?
Category: Gen, eventual F/M
Rating: Mature for mentions of violence
Fandom: Lord of the Rings (books and films)
Summary:
The Fourth Age of Middle-earth has already begun.
Clover is a young hobbit, found in the woods by a half-elven messenger and brought to live in Rivendell as the fading Elves prepare for their departure. Raised far from her own kind, she grows up in the space between the world that was and the world that will be, never certain where she belongs.
But everything begins to change when the Elves discover that access to the Last Archive, the great record preserving the knowledge and history of Middle-earth, has been fractured. As old records begin to stir and forgotten paths reopen, Clover and the messenger who raised her are drawn into a mystery tied to her family, her past, and a history that was never meant to be lost.
Okay but, listen: Samwise came back to confront Gollum. There is no way he expected to see an enormous Lovecraftian nightmare of a spider instead. BUT HE DOES. NOT. FLINCH.
We cannot love him enough for this.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING 2001, dir. Peter Jackson
Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends.
