If the denizens of the Underdark themselves didn’t care for it, Nicole can’t imagine she’d care for it either. Even still, she had no plans of going anytime soon, or at all for that matter. For now, she was happy on the surface. As happy as she could be anyway. She’s got a nice cleric for a brother figure who allows her to stay when she needs. And she’s got freedom to go where she pleases any other time!

“Trust fer me means survival. Sure, i’ could lead ta consequences. But tha’ trust I’ve been able ta put in folks so far has always worked out. An’ I know if tha bad ones come, I have safe places ta go.” Another simplicity. At least for her it was. Had she not trusted her adoptive father, she’d have died long ago before he took her home. Had she not trusted Oli, she wouldn’t have the safety and comfort of not only his home, but his care as well. And Nyloth. . .didnt seem bad. Didn’t seem like he would go out of his way to cause her harm. That alone was worth trust to her.

The teen pauses, glancing at the newly exposed scars before politely looking elsewhere. She didn’t want to be rude and stare. “—youse got yer reasons. An’ I ain’ one ta pry much. Bu’ at least I know yer gonna have some logic when I need it, ‘er I can put my trust in youse when ya think somethin’ ain’ right.”

--- Oh, to be able to be so... Naive. A curious kind of innocence that the drow simply couldn't fathom. Trust meant weakness; weakness meant prey. Weakness meant death. That was all he knew. Even now, regardless of what he had learned with Nailyn, with Oswald, and with Grisette, he was slow to put his trust in anyone. His mind as damaged as the very body it inhabited.

"And if you are no longer around to hear my glorious words of wisdom? What then? I ask the blond one to bring you back so we can both scold you?" he paused, a small, albeit rather twisted, smile formed upon his thin lips, "Which could be fun, now that I think about it." Nyloth's gaze settled on a point just over the other's shoulder. His smile faded back to a veil of nothingness. "Just remember, the road to safety is paved with a level of scepticism."

"Well," he started, pulling on his cloak, "Seeing as this session has been interrupted, we may as well walk around."

". . .I like grapes. Red ones are sweeter so I like those more." Another nod, running her hands through the grass for a moment before glancing over at Nyloth. It sounded rather sad in the Underdark, not a very pleasant time. But for someone like Nyloth, coming to the surface must have been rather jarring. "Not tha biggest fan of wine though. . .i's gross."

A rather simple mindset, and the simplicity continues for the young druid. "Huh? Yer from tha Underdark, righ'? Well, I trust ya. I think yer mean sometimes. Bu' yer not a bad guy."

--- "From the Underdark? Unfortunately," words spoken as he shifted again. Sitting fully upright. It would seem that today, his sun resistance training would not be, well, he wouldn't say comfortable. It was never comfortable. The sun's rays often brought with it a prickly kind of discomfort. No, rather it would seem that today's training would be filled with... conversation.

"I am simply who people believe me to be, it's easier than trying to convince them otherwise," he shrugged "Your willingness to trust blindly, however," another pause, "That concerns me."

He rose, typically hunched over posture straightening as he stretched out after what could only be described as a short period of inactivity. Clothing moving with him, exposing more of the scarring beneath, "But that might just be the in me drow speaking,"

The bestie: Nailyn - Spring Eladrin Elf who pretends to be a High Elf. Raised by his High Elf father. Bladesinger Wizard with a couple of levels in fighter.

Their friendship makes me laugh.

Firstly, Nailyn pretends to be the worst kind of surface elf as far as the drow are concerned. LIke surface elves suck, in their opinion, but High Elves are the worst of the worst. Secondly, he is a wizard and all about the magic, and as I've stated before, Nyloth finds magic to be convoluted.

Nailyn is not an adult in elf terms. He is actually only in his 90's. Nyloth, however, considers him an adult as drow are considered adults at 90. Surface elves aren't until they reach 100 years of age.

Nailyn, having been raised in a somewhat healthier environment, is the friendlier of the duo and often attempts to make fun of the drow in an attempt to get even a hint of a smile from him (spoiler: it never works).

Yet both have each other's back. If one is in trouble, the other will do everything in their power to help them. If one breaks the pack to search, the other follows (albeit at a distance)

Nailyn was Nyloth's first friend. And for the longest time, only friend. They mean everything to each other

She listens to him speak, not fully grasping what life was like in The Underdark. Not understanding exactly why they were just that: treats. Part of her reasoning could be true. But what could be the greater truth was lost among her.

“I imagine it would be hard ta get tha ingredients there. . .”

Giving a gentle hum of thought, she gives a confident nod. Self assurance of her own thoughts. “Oli makes them from time ta time. So I have a feelin’ you’ll get ta get used ta them.” Thinking for another moment, she looks back to him. “Wha’ abou’ fruits?”

--- He exhales a short burst of air from his nose, a show of amusement more than anything else. If what Nailyn had said previously was true, Nyloth understood that information on the Underdark was... limited. Limited and often fabricated at that.

"It's a barren place. What grows is sparse, what's traded is saved for those who hold the power," his gaze still never leaving her person. "Even trade was limited. Those of the surface do not trust those underground," he paused, "And I don't blame them."

"But, we have grapes, to answer your question. A rarity that grows without sunlight. Typically used to make wine,"
