feel free to delete this ask if you dont want to open this can of worms but what are your thoughts on the argument transandrophobia defenders use that men of color experience oppression for being Men intersectionally with being POC?
My general thoughts when I see them is:
And
It’s overwhelmingly crackers in the “misandry exists movement” that make that argument and point to one or two non-whites to justify it, and the main theory point in Black feminism is that while Black men experience a gendered racism because of being Black but still being a man, but they are experiencing it because they are *Black* not *because of being Men*. The difference is because *they are not the gendered oppressed class* they do not experience the additional racialized oppression of Misogynoir or Transmisogynoir.
Were they not Black, they would not experience discrimination solely for being Men, otherwise the discrimination would be the same across races.
Alas, “Man” is not an oppressed class as a group, as much as Incels, Hoteps, and MRAs would like to position “the male loneliness epidemic” and “men policing their own ability to express emotion” as signs of oppression rather than a symptom of the patriarchy despite being part of the oppressing class under patriarchy but not white supremacy (but definitely being part of the oppressing class in Black-majority patriarchal countries).
In similar ways, trans men are not experiencing an oppressive misandry because even with one existing axis of marginalization (trans), similar to the case with being Black, they would not experience an oppression for being solely Men if the trans were removed. What they are experiencing is the lack of an additional marginalization in the form of transmisogyny or transmisogynoir, rather than a marginalization unique to being a man.
While in a world liberated from patriarchy and white supremacy, “man” would not be considered “the default experience”, we are unfortunately currently living in a society where that is considered true, and the terms that affect how we need to find liberation reflect that. Transandrophobia and similar phrases are explicitly counter-liberatory by positioning a ruling, controlling, oppressor class as a being the true victim of their own oppression.
Much like whiteness, where having a marginalization in addition to being white does not negate their whiteness under white supremacy, having a marginalization in addition to manhood under patriarchy does not negate their manhood either.
The weird transphobic defense they use that boils down to “um actually trans men experience life as women and trans women are really men, so-“ also doesn’t hold up because it’s fuckin T*RF shit and many Transandrophobia preachers weave in TERF talking points, especially about trans women who talk about transmisogyny.
TL;DR; trans men are men, trans women are women, MRAs are cringe, stop inventing trans MGTOW and Hotepery
