Legal advice needed!! This is not a rant about the police as the majority of officers in town are cool. I understand that they try to do their job to the best of their ability. But being rude and issuing a fine is not necessary if you only apply it to me I have been busking since 2014. I understand the rules fully and always abide by them. Occasionally I get the police asking me to controle the crowd which I always try my best to do but sometimes I fail which results in them politely asking me to stop and I always do. Apart from a couple of officers that dont do it politely. Last night I got stopped, while I was busking by the police, even though my crowd was small, They took my details and said that I should expect a fine in the mail soon for not displaying my busking permit, they were surprisingly rude to me in front of many people for no reason what so ever. even though I explained that I have a permit on my phone. Meanwhile, there were 4 other buskers on both of my sides not displaying their permits and had a bigger crowd at some stages. The police had to go and stop some of them because they had many people blocking the footpath, but they didnt issue anyone with a fine for not displaying their permit. And when I confronted them about it they were surprisingly rude to me and said that "I should disapear into the darkness and worry about my own bussiness" Question 1. Does anyone know how much the fine is? Question 2. What rights do I have as a preformer that has been doing this here in Byron since 2014? And never had this happen to me before? Question 3 If you have any advice or can direct me to anyone that can give me advice that would be great. I have footage and many witnesses that were there last night and expressed that that was unnecessary and they are welling to provide statements. This makes me feel like a target. I honestly don't feel good about busking anymore knowing that i am some how a target. Please dont be rude to the police in the comments. Just help me fix this if you can.
