R E - W I L D I N G 🐺
This - exactly this - is what led me to want to move back to Sweden in the first place. We arrived in April of last year, tired from dealing with illness and mold and uncertainty, and although it wasn’t as freezing as this, the lake was cold. No matter the weather, every day I’d walk down to the dock by the little house we were renting and take a dip. There was just something about it; the anticipation of that first jolt of energy, all of your senses awakening, the sense of aliveness that comes along with submerging your body in really cold water... It quite literally woke me up. I started craving it; yearning for it. I found myself thinking about it in the evenings, longing for morning knowing I’d get to go for that cold swim once again. Little by little, leaving Sweden; leaving this lake, began feeling unbearable. I found my way home here, in the journey back to these waters.
It’s almost a year later… and here I am. Same lake. Different dock. Colder than it was April, but just as amazing.
My ancestors swam in this lake. I don’t know what kept me away for so long.
