Ron ducked behind a corner, taking this moment to catch his breath. He watched more confused muggles running in his direction, and while he was just as confused, he urged them to keep running. âGo! Go!!!!â he yelled, ushering them away from the battle. Lights from the spells being thrown back and forth bounced off the walls, and Ron gripped his wand tightly, ready to continue to fight back. And then he heard a voice.Â
âAs you can see around you, the Order has broken against the might of Lord Voldemort and his faithful servants.....â
Ron peeked around the corner, trying to find the source of the voice blasting through the streets. Instead he found bodies upon bodies upon bodies....
Until the body he found was familiar, someone he recognized. Someone he knew. Someone he loved. Someone who gave him life now laid lifeless in the street. He recognized the body as his fatherâs.Â
Ron couldnât make out the words spoken after that. His fatherâs name was spat out, maybe? But the words sounded distant, jumbled together, like something out of a dream, or perhaps a nightmare. Not real.
This isnât real. This canât be real.
But there was his father, motionless beneath her feet.Â
The world stopped. It had to have stopped, because Ronâs world stopped, and that meant it had it have stopped for the rest of the world too. It stopped and it shattered, the pieces shifting beneath Ronâs feet as his foundation was destroyed. He lost his footing, staggering backwards. Someone must have grabbed him, somewhere, grabbing his arm and disapparating, because one minute his father was there and the next he was gone.Â
And only when the reality of what had happened hit him, when the air was sucked from his lungs, did Ron find himself screaming.Â
