BACKGROUND: 

following the battle of hogwarts, ron struggled

his friends had finally beat their main enemy, and honestly.... ron didn’t do want to do, how to cope, none of it

so the first few years after graduation, ron struggled. he didn’t feel like directly going into studying to become an auror like he dreamed of doing, and for awhile, he had been a bartender at different bars in diagon alley

ron was, for lack of a better word, was going downhill, and he’s too stubborn and proud to ask for help for other people

so he filled the void/got rid of all the negative thoughts by doing two things: working long shifts talking to people all the time ( hearing their stories was enough distraction for him ) and hooking up with people ( he needed an outlet somehow ) 

it took him awhile to get out of this rut of his, and it took his friends and family actually sitting down and talking to him for him to be able to realize that he needed help

so he is seeing someone on a monthly basis for talking through everything that happened with voldemort ( only monthly because ron doesn’t want to commit to anything like that ) 

and eventually he did get what he needed to become an auror and he does enjoy what he does but there’s definitely still some remnants of his struggles present where he struggles going to work

but he leans on his support system to get him through, and he still struggles to ask for help, and there will still be times where he’ll be so overwhelmed he’ll snap at people

for the most part, ron puts on a pretty good mask, and most of the time it’s those closest to him that are able to see right through it

WANTED CONNECTIONS:

coworkers from when he was a bartender - maybe he would always take their shifts or something or they just were always scheduled to work together

coworkers from the ministry - feel like this could go either way; they either like working with ron or they don’t! feel like it could be spicy if it’s the latter

ex/current hookups - self explanatory for the most part, ron doesn’t want to commit to anything right now, so they probably call each other in the middle of the night

exes - but maybe at one point in time, ron got a wild hair and dated this person but wasn’t the best at dating them and it fell thru! could also be spicy

confidant - someone who sees ron’s mask and can always make him talk about it ( even if he doesn’t want to )

“Luckily for me, martinis aren’t very difficult,” says Daphne, watching him with great amusement. It’s the literal disgust on his face that does it for her, recalling her mother’s reaction to most things that aren’t up to her standards. Of course, on Ron Weasley the disgust looks far less haughty and much more comical, but still. “You’d better be careful, Weasley, keep complaining like that and you might get mistaken for belonging to the upper echelons of society. And you wouldn’t want that, would you?”

     RON DOESN’T BOTHER HIDING THE ROLL OF HIS EYES. another greengrass, another headache coming on. granted, ron doesn’t know daphne as well as astoria ( and even then, he doesn’t deal with astoria if he doesn’t have to ), but it’s the principle of it all. “ i just have plenty of experience with it, ” he answers, though he isn’t even sure while he’s entertaining her. “ unlike the upper echelons of society, i’m able to make my own drinks and they’re much better than whatever the bloody hell this is. ”

SING-OMUSE​.

HE STARTLES AT THE FAMILIAR VOICE. Though, the moment he registers who uttered those very words, he feels his shoulder relax by a fraction. Fractionally. Though, it’s a tension that is difficult to note by an outsider. “It’s a shame since they spend so much money.” Colin’s voice is far deeper, lower, than it once was. It carries a tone muddled with a faint sense of desolation, mired with an enchanting smile and a perceptive gaze. As it goes. But, the corner of Colin’s lips twitches up every-so-slightly as he catches Ron’s eye. It’s genuine.

“It’s nice seeing you here.” He means it. “I was just about readying myself for another round of Firewhiskey.”

     THE OTHER’S REACTION ISN’T LOST ON RON, and he remembers a time where he was like that. it’s been a process, one with a mix of healthy and unhealthy coping mechanisms, so he’s sure to give colin a warm smile. he may not be the most sociable in this environment, but it’s the least he could do. “ think their budget went towards more of the decorations than quality booze, ” ron points out, nose wrinkling as he does so, but there’s still some amusement in his voice. “ good to see you too, ” he tells him, and it is because he knows colin. “ good move, i should have done the same thing on the first round. ”

ANGELINAXJOHNSON.

Five martini’s in and Angelina was pleasantly drunk, overly confident and extremely loud. Like a snitch, she was zooming around the room to different groups and different people, dragging them into conversations, dances, selfies. Being loud was her way of dealing. And the louder and bigger you were, the more you felt in control and if the ministry were determined to parade the war heroes around, she certainly was going to make them regret it. 

“You! Yes, you, we’re dancing now-” she needed people to perk up, even if she could distract them for five minutes, or get them to laugh at a joke, she could leave knowing she had done something. Too long most had been living with their shadows and their memories, they deserved to be brought back into the light and to begin experiencing life again. 

And dancing was good, it released endorphins just the same as exercise and by merlin did she love to dance- it was enough to remind her of her first dance and the way she had felt being twirled across the great hall and the lightness and joy- 

“And if you say no, you’ll break my heart.” 

     RON’S NOT AMUSED. nothing against angelina, but he’s just not a dancer, and he doesn’t think there’s any amount of firewhiskey that can convince him to do it. the last thing he wants is ronald weasley to be seen dancing at a ministry function. he’d rather be talking to his friends on the sidelines. he shakes his head, lips pressed together. “ i’m sure your heart can handle it. ” ron deadpans, taking a sip of his drink. “ i’m no good dancing anyways. it’ll be more embarrassing than anything. ”

EBRANSTONE.

          she   hated   events   like   these   ,   but   this   one   was   special   -   important   .   so   she   could   put   aside   her   hesitations   ,   just   this   once   .   cerulean   irises   search   for   a   familiar   face   ,   but   finds   them   somewhat   lacking   .   there   are   reporters   about   and   one   somehow   manages   to   find   her   in   the   sea   of   notoriety   around   them   .   “   yeah   ,   this   season   is   gonna   be   good   –   we’ve   got   some   amazing   new   players   that   are   definitely   ones   to   watch   for   ,   ”   she   smiles   ,   cheerful   and   unnoticeably   fake   as   she   promptly   excuses   herself   after   a   few   moments   .   ELLIE   heads   straight   for   the   bar,   the   sound   of   her   heels   clicking   muffled   by   the   noise   of   the   event   .   when   she   reaches   the   open   bar   she   leans   against   it   ,   absentmindedly   running   her   right   hand   along   the   jagged   scar   marring   her   left   arm   (   a   scar   she   no   longer   kept   hidden   )   .   “   is   there   anyway   you   can   get   me   something   that   can   get   me   drunk   in   a   very   very   short   amount   of   time   ?   ”  

     HE WOULD HAVE THOUGHT THE REPORTERS WOULD RESPECT THE EVENT, but he’s been in the limelight enough to know that they’ll do just about anything to get a mere morsel of new information. so it’s when ellie is already walking towards the bar, he’s reaching behind the bar to get some shot glasses and a bottle of alcohol. “ i wouldn’t even try to get an actual drink, it wouldn’t turn out well. ” and he’s speaking from first hand experience unfortunately. “ hope you like shots, ” he muses as he’s pouring the liquid into the glasses. “ rough night already ? ”

     FEATURES TWIST IN DISGUST AS HE TAKES A SIP, but it’s free booze, so who is he to say no ? he’ll just grin and bear it. “ not the best drink i’ve ever tasted, but it’ll get the job done. ” even if he’s real close to going behind the bar and serving drinks that actually taste pretty decent. “ don’t let them trick you into any of their speciality drinks, ” ron says to the other, and normally he wouldn’t care enough to warn others, but his drink is ghastly. “ i’d just order some firewhiskey and save yourself the trouble. ”

     “ I DIDN’T DO ANYTHING TO PISS HER OFF, ” ron begins, though he’s quick to finish off his drink because he might just need it to get through the conversation if his mother isn’t sidetracked. “ so that look is for you, little sis. ” his gaze shifts from his mother on a warpath to his sister. “ what did you do this time ? ” he won’t say it aloud, but he’ll cover for her if need be.

𝑹𝑶𝑵𝑨𝑳𝑫 𝑾𝑬𝑨𝑺𝑳𝑬𝒀 ; a study through music. 

     a mix of the classics and new music with plenty of room for angst. ron’s not very good at expressing his feelings ever, so muggle music has been there for him whenever he’s going through something and doesn’t know exactly how to express it. in his flat, it’ll never be quiet, and he can probably thank growing up in the weasley household for that, and there’s always some sort of music playing whenever you visit. he’ll be sure to turn on things that are uplifting, not as angsty as he normally likes, but as soon as you leave, he’ll turn on what he wants to listen to // listen here.
