why would you try to fit into the beauty standards created by men who want to fuck teenagers
Have y’all noticed how the misogyny of young men is treated as the effects of some internet trend called the “manosphere”.
As if the misogyny of these men is somehow unique. As if their fathers and grandfathers didn’t hold exactly the same opinions when they were teens and probably still do.
There is a perception that young men are backsliding from their previously held progressive values, but I think that young men were never progressive or feminist in the first place, even over the last ten years. They pretended to have those values so they could consider themselves good people, but as soon as large internet personalities showed them that misogyny is still considered acceptable all they had to do was remove the mask.
I’m not saying that men aren’t being radicalized online, but I think that researchers overstate this to the point that they forget that our society is still deeply misogynistic even without the internet.

If you remove the desire to have children from your “must do/life accomplishment” list, I’m realizing how much slower life can be as a result. Like you don’t have to rush to find someone to settle down with or have your life in order by 25 if having kids before x age isn’t a concern.
No wonder we’re all rushing when there’s this time limit.
If you stop planning for children, you have all the time in the world to get your degree, get your license, fall in love, make mistakes, etc. I’m just now realizing how this pressure to have kids is at the core of youth obsession, the aging out of women from certain spaces (especially beauty/aspirational type spaces), and just the overall timeline obsession we have.
If you take kids out of the equation, there are no timelines. Just lives to live. Childfree isn’t just a choice some women make; it’s true freedom from everything our society tells us to prioritize and how to live. Literally none of it matters when having children is never your goal.

The juries' votes
My main issue with Sweden winning honestly isn't even about the song, it's the fact that the professional jury consistently rewards non-offensive pop music and punishes entries that are even slightly out there. Sweden just happens to be very good at making non-offensive pop music, which is why they win the jury vote so often.
The problem with that is that it encourages countries to send in non-offensive pop music in order to appeal to the professional jury, most of which will be very mediocre and boring to watch. If the people didn't get a vote, we wouldn't see entries like Finland or Croatia, and that's bullshit! Those kinds of performances are what people watch eurovision for! Nobody wants to see a non-offensive pop music contest. We want originality! We want fun! We want the professional jury to go fuck themselves!
Anyway cha cha cha should have won and I will die on this hill
