went and ripped the deleted comments out with my bare hands, here's the solution from the original reddit post, @stormlore !

The website has the rule image-rendering: optimizeSpeed; that is the cause of the low quality in Firefox, Chrome sees that rule as invalid so Chrome ignores it.

Install the extension Stylus (or similar extension) and create a style for that website with below CSS.

#cnv { image-rendering: unset !important; }

I've tested above and it works.

Note: The values optimizeQuality and optimizeSpeed present in an early draft (and coming from its SVG counterpart image-rendering) are defined as synonyms for the smooth and pixelated values respectively.
