@rookwoodxaugustus
where: Outside of Potions Class when: February 8, 1978 who: Bertram Aubrey and Augustus Rookwood ( @rookwoodxaugustusâ )
Bertram had been very distracted during Potions Class. He was lucky that Professor Slughorn didnât call him out on it. He probably had been too busy praising whoever brewed the best potion that day. But while Bertram was stirring his cauldron clockwise instead of counter-clockwise, his mind was busy thinking about what he and Brie agreed on. Bertram was to ask someone out on a date. Dirk Cresswell to be exact, and his thick, attractive eyebrows.Â
There must be some way to back out of it. He didnât even know if Dirk bloody liked boys.Â
Wait⌠that must be the way out then, wasnât it? If he learns that Dirk didnât like guys, he wouldnât have to ask him out. Heâll just shrug her shoulders at Brie and say that he tried⌠Kind ofâŚ
After Potions class, he waited for Augustus Rookwood, hoping to ask his advice. âHey,â Bertram greeted. âCan I ask you a question? Itâs about⌠Cresswell.â
One of Augustus favorite classes was Potions, mainly because Slughorn spent a good chunk of the class praising those who performed well, and of course Augustus always aimed to be the top. He was glad Bones was not in the class, so he was left to only worry about Black, and Dirk, but Dirk was his friend, or at least in the eyes of the world, he was one of his closest mates, and Clemonte, but she often second guessed herself, so Augustus easily shinned. This class had not being the exception, and Augustus had enjoyed Regulusâ eye-roll when Slughorn pointed out his extraordinary technique.Â
He exchanged a few words with Isobel, it was important to have her on his side if he was to ask Amelia out, he knew the importance best friends played when it came to dating. He clapped Regulus on the shoulder just for the fun of it, before heading for the exit. âOh hey Bert!â Augustus said in his usual cheery tone, he fought the urge to raise an eyebrow, but above all to smirk, something was going on and he could not be more interested.Â
âYup his eyebrows are one-hundred percent natural, no magic involvedâ
Where: Entrance to the Library, 2:01 pm. With: John Dawlish & Anyone
When he had come to Hogwarts, the age old traditions still stood. He attended at eleven and left at seventeen. He had been sorted into Ravenclaw, and was a studious boy within his tenure of education. Surely, a broken rule here or thereâbut when John understood what he wanted to be, knew where he wanted to goâhe grew up, and did so fast. Less parties turned into more frequent trips to the Library. It was where he stood now, hands pocketed. He was only there to cover part-time for the sabbatical of a co-worker, taking time off the job due to a sudden loss in the family from the ongoing war that barred down on every single person within the UK. As cruel as it was to suggest, John didnât care. He didnât plan to pick a side, he only cared to do his job. Uphold the law. If you were innocent, it would show, and if you were proven guilty then it was a one way ticket to Azkaban. There were no shades of grey when it came to the Auror. Looking up at the mass arch of the Library entrance, he shook his head. âNot a damn thing in this school changes, does it?â Was he looking for evolution in an institution nearly as old as the country itself? John only let out a small laugh at the thought, unaware of someone nearby.
There were few who had a chance to intern at the Ministry of Magic, a covent position, that not even nepotism or all the money in the world could give you. Sure it was true that Augustus, and his two classmates, could very well be accused of such things, all three as different as they might be, had fought hard to proved the world they deserved their place in the Ministry. Perhaps that was the only reason he respected Amelia and Regulus, their summers together had proven they were boring workaholics, but still better than some others at the Ministry. Augustus cared for very little things in life, recognition, attention, and praise being a few of those things. While his aim had always being the department of mysteries, he was still too young to be allowed there, he had hoped Fabian Prewett had put in a good word, and next summer would be his time. As usual Augustus had bounced from department to department, with a large part of his rotation being the DMLE, times of war an all that. Of course he had played the helpful but not eager intern, he could tell Aurors didnât like brown-nosing, so he mostly stayed out of their way, only helping when asked, he won the favor of many that way. Others, well, were a little bit hard. âThe moving staircasesâ he joked, âAuror Dawlishâ he said with polite nod, âI didnât expect to see you here sir, is there something we should worry about?â
Where: Outside of Muggle Studies Class With: Daisy Hookum & Anyone
Daisyâs favourite class was Muggle Studies, by far above anything else. She loved and admired the Muggle life, often badgering those who lived it before her in their spare time to indulge her whenever they were willing too, within reason. Their classes as of this week were focused on studying pop culture, and Daisyâs head was filled with the fiery tunes that were unable to be replicated within the magical world, no matter how hard a wixen tried. It was uniquely ordinary and she loved it. Clutching the record in her arms, knowing sheâd have to find the nearest person who mightâve magicked one into the school to work. âHave you heard this album?â She approached the nearest person, ABBA shining in gold letters across the packaging. âIâve heard only one song but itâs so beautiful! Do you want to listen to it with me?â
âHey Hookumâ Augustus said with a smile, he tried to keep a friendly relationship with everyone in his year, you never know when you are going to need a favor from someone, itâs better to have as many people as possible on your side. âSorry to dissapoint, Iâve never heard it before, thereâs every few muggle music Iâve listened to honestlyâ he said with a shrug, he knew it was muggle music because of the record Daisy was holding, he had seen those records before, but he didnât really care for muggle music, or muggles, or music. âBut uh- sure Iâd like to listen to itâ Augustus gave Daisy a soft smile, âdo you uh- have a record player?â he asked remembering thatâs what you needed to play the records, for his almost perfect memory, he could not for the life of him recall who had told him that. âYou takinâ muggle studies?â
where: 6th Yr Male Ravenclaw Dormitory when: January 28, 1978 who: Gilderoy Lockhart and Augustus Rookwood ( @rookwoodxaugustusâ )
Merely suggesting that Gilderoy doesnât know something that was already taught in class will earn a scoff from the boy who always had impeccable hair. Of course, he knows his shite. He might have just simply forgotten? Or more likely, perhaps, it was the other person who was in the wrong during that entire time.Â
But as of the moment, while he was lying on his stomach, propped on his elbows while he stared at a practice questionnaire, Gilderoy racked his brain for the answer for the multiple-choice question in number six. A furry-spirit being from Brazil⌠Was it an inferius? Caipora?  He was at least sure that it wasnât a zombie. Being exposed to his fatherâs line of work at least made that clear.
Gilderoy looked over to the only other person in the room. âOh, Augustus,â he started. âHow are you faring with the questionnaire?â
Working in the dorm was usually a very bad idea, sure they were all dedicated individuals when it came to their studies, but by Merlin did they got easily distracted. But with the library being unusually full, Augustus found himself laying in bed answering his assignment. Lockhart was wonderful to work with, a natural instinct to be better than others usually had him focusing on his work, and Augustus enjoyed the chance of being able to concentrate on the very boring questionnaire.Â
âIâve never been fond of multiple choiceâ Augustus said with a sigh, âsometimes they are too easy, sometimes way too hard, most of the time just confusingâ he admitted trying to sound nonchalantly, the way to Gilderoyâs heart was through his ego, so Augustus didnât mind letting his roommate believe himself better than Augustus, âwhat about you?â
(Â Aubreyâ ):
Bertram tapped on the table with his undipped quill as he listened. It was a habit he never got rid of, even after he stopped using pencils and sadly, the light weight of the quill wasnât able to give him the same effect. His own potion notes were lying in front of him, ignored. âYeahâŚâ Bertram paused his tapping to scratch the space between his nose and lips. Bertram was absolutely abhorred when he found out that James was going to be the Head Boy that year. In his head, either Fabian or Frank should have gotten the position. Heck, heâd have even settled for Malfoy.â
âWell, what?â Bertram leaned forward, closer to the boy across the table. His forehead was wrinkled in curiosity and concern, wanting to hear the rest of Augustusâ thoughts.
Augustus took a deep breath, feigning that it was hard for him to say what was to follow, âwell, I hate gossip and rumours, but-â he bit the inside of his cheek, honestly anyone who saw him would not believe how much he was enjoying this interaction, âyou know what everyoneâs saying about Potter and his friendsâ Augustus turned to look for anyone who might be listening, and scooted closer to Bertram, âwell I- I overheard my parents, a few days before I was set to return to school...â he bit his lip as if in hesitation, âBert it wasnât something like their usual pranks... it was dark magicâ he said sounding scandalized, âI- I didnât really understand what my parents were talking about, but it had to do with-â he shook his head, âthe point is, forget Potter still being head boy, why were they allowed back, they are putting everyone at risk...â
(Â Averyâ ):
âIâm doing my part for the schoolâs pest control,â he said with a shrug. It was a less complicated answer than trying to explain that the mouse had managed to distract him with nothing more than a squeak and that he had a tendency to lash out at anything that startled him. He eyed the rodent as if it personally offended him. âMe? Augustus! How can you say that? I have never done anything in my life.â Nothing helpful, anyway. The idea that he had never done anything wrong in his life or anything that might disrupt his fellow studentsâ life wouldnât be believed by anybody. And so far he hadnât done anything down that corridor, either. Yet. âIf you really want to know, you can always wait and see.â He patted a hand on the windowsill, inviting Augustus to take a seat. He was sure it wouldnât take long for someone to come along who they could have a little fun with and cure Brentonâs itchy feet.
A snort left Augustus lips, followed by a shake of his head, that was all the answer he needed, really, who was he to question Avery? Quite the contrary, life would be boring without Avery coming up with new ways to get people in trouble, Augustus wasnât going to lie, the time he had been roped in and almost caught had brought such an adrenaline rush, perhaps his life was still too boring even after joining the Death Eaters. It didnât matter because he was about to witness whatever it was that Avery had in mind. âI honestly have no clue what you are going to do, but I cannot wait to seeâ he admitted walking towards the windowsill and plopping next to Brenton. If this was any other person Augustus would quickly engage in some small talk, but his gift was to try and pinpoint what a person valued the most, and then try and give that to the person in order to gain their favor. Brenton, well it seem Brenton valued chaos, and Augustus was quite content to watch chaos unfold. Â
The Death Eaters
2/10. The Spy. Augustus Rookwood
âRookwood: a spy. He gave valuable information through the Ministry to He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named!â
(( @qvickquill ))
February, 1978 The Great Hall, Ravenclaw Table
Things were going back to normal, which meant that Augustus was back at being bored, it had been fun while everyone had scrambled to point fingers and come up with over the top theories about the four upperclassmen who had failed to show up at the beginning of the term. While the chaos it had caused had been fun at first, it soon became obvious it would not do much to advance the Dark Lordâs cause, and once that was clear, Augustus had lost interest.
There was not much he could do until they all received new instructions, specially because Augustus had been told from the start about the plans they had for him. So that meant he had to find other things to keep himself occupied. Fortunately two of his classmates were providing the perfect opportunity. After six years Augustus thought he had his classmates figured out, specially those he had shared the summers with, being an intern at the Ministry was a coveted position, and few had the opportunity, and while Amelia Bones and Regulus Black were utterly boring, ever since they all came back from the winter break Augustus had noticed something interesting. And a plan had started to form in his head, finally some entertainment.Â
The first step was of course to make it seem believable, and while Augustus wouldâve rather not get Rita involved, he knew it was the best course of action. So as he headed towards the Ravenclaw table at the Great Hall, he tried to convince himself he wasnât actually going to lie to Rita, he was just going to present a different version of the truth. Rita was after all the only person Augustus truly cared about, and he hated keeping things from her. âHey Ritaâ Augustus said with smile before sitting across from her, âI need some adviceâ he said in his best fake-concerned voice, âitâs about a girl that I really like...â Augustus added a sigh for good measure, Rita knew him so well it was going to be tough to convince her he actually needed dating advice, but the important thing was that everyone around them believed it.
where: Great Hall or Library or Gryffindor Common Room when: January 11 - 15, 1978 who: Bertram Aubrey and anyoneÂ
After all the rumors about the four older Gryffindors - and arriving at school late to boot - Bertram couldnât believe that the faculty is just letting them assimilate back with the students. Would there be no explanations? No clarifications of any sort regarding why exactly the Marauders entered the campus a good three days before everyone else did? These thoughts have been plaguing Bertram for days and he canât help that something about it should be done. Surely, he wasnât the only one thinking about it.
âHey,â he turned to his seatmate out of the blue. âCan I ask? What do you think about James still being the Head Boy?â
Nothing was as efficient as a whisper campaign, a well planted rumour here and there could do wonders in bringing down entire regimes. In this case it was doing wonders to destabilize the Ministryâs efforts to minimize the reach of the war. The Dark Lordâs mark had appeared inside the walls of Hogwarts, the one place supposed to be a safe haven for all magical folk, and the worst of it all, students were responsible. That last part was true, the rumour was of course, which students had been the ones to cast it. Framing Hogwartsâ darlings was the best idea to come from the ranks of the Death Eaters, it was wrecking havoc, and honestly Augustus was having such a good time.
Currently in the middle of working on a potions assignment, Augustus did his best to listen to what his classmate and fellow prefect was saying. âWell Bert you know me, Iâve always questioned why Potter had been made Head Boy, if you ask me it shouldâve gone to someone like Fabian Prewett, and Iâm not just saying that because heâs in my houseâ Augustus said in his most innocent voice, âand now well...âÂ
Where: Hogwarts corridor Who: Brenton && open
He was sat on a windowsill, one leg jigging repetitively so that his foot kept hitting the wall and picking away the peeling paint from the window frame with a frenzied focus which was broken by a high-pitched squeak and some movement out the corner of his eyes. He cast a lazy hex at a mouse, almost hitting someone who just happened to be passing at the same time.
âI wouldnât go down that way if I were you,â he said in a sing-song voice.Â
While it was true that Augustus had joined the Death Eaters out of boredom, and mostly to get back at his parents, he could not deny the thrill of succeeding in the missions he had being assigned. When the older members started suggesting he would be a great asset within the walls of the Ministry, Augustus got the attention he had always craved. But the Death Eaters still in Hogwarts were something else, most of them were too much for Augustus to handle, although he did an stellar job at pretending, but he did enjoy hanging out with those that werenât so full of themselves, Evan, Regulus, Brenton, so when he spotted one of them, he wasted no time approaching them.Â
âWoah, what did that mouse do to you?â Augustus said raising an eyebrow, âwhy? what did you do?â he asked excitedly.Â
