Pulled out some old friends of mine to snap some photos of today. They are still as beautiful as ever. /// It's been a lazy day. It's been a weird day. (More like a weird year, really ...) But in the moments when I'm honed in on something that makes my heart flutter through my camera lens, like this, I feel so peaceful. I feel at ease. Those moments are all I can really ask for in this phase of my life ❤️✨

Most will hurt you and never look back. And you will become callous. You will want to treat yourself and others in the same manner - repeating history, as if history doesn't matter. But what then, sets us apart? What allows us to grow and find the light in our hearts rather than allowing the shadows to overcome us ... I'm not saying it's easy, and I'm certainly not preaching that I live this way .. because the hurt often disguises itself as brokenness, and we end up believing that there is no way for us to not be broken // The strongest, rarest growth often comes from the deepest of cracks in the earth. Maybe this is something to keep in mind when we are feeling small, unworthy, unlovable ... when we feel that it's hard to catch our breath.
Sometimes I forget about how many love stories, life adventures, and significant moments I've gotten to capture for people over the years ... and then when I start looking back on the shoots, I find myself unable to stop smiling. I just want to thank every person who has invited me into their life at some point to capture an important moment in their lives. I know that photos are important, but the fact that people welcome others into those moments - that's the truly special part. Feeling thankful for photography and all the folks I've been able to have in front of my camera ever since I picked one up. Y'all make me feel pretty darn special ❤️✨✌🏻

Maybe the real issue is that we don't think far enough ahead in the beginning. We look at a person, a thing, a path ... and think "Oh this looks nice. Let's go for it!" - But then as soon as we run into an obstacle, we want to bail. We want out as quickly as possible. We want to blame the obstacle, but really, it's not the obstacle's fault ... now is it? **Because obstacles are inevitable.** No matter which path you choose, how you choose to follow it, or the mindset you dedicate to - obstacles are always going to pop up out of nowhere. And yes ,of course it can get hard, but to me, the answer is not to blame life. Nor is it to blame the obstacle. // We either choose to take on the challenge and grow our soul, or we choose to let the obstacle overcome us // I think going with the flow and following the wind is beautiful, and I wish to live my life in that manner at all times, really, but I also don't ever want to live my life believing that shit won't eventually come up. Because it will. And you choose whether or not it shapes you into a greater person or into a puddle of self doubt. But of course it's so easy to speak in such a general sense, isn't it? ... Just remember that you're in control of thing more than you might believe, especially in times of weakness. ✨✌🏻 (at Caney Fork River / Center Hill Dam)

The past couple days have been really reflective. I've come to terms with the fact that I'm better at being alone, even though it can obviously get a bit lonely & it's what I fear the most at times.
