Roots Life Productions is a music production company started in the streets of Queens, NY by two brothers: Eric Tribe General Toussaint and Nestor Lafayette Maroone. Music has been a passion for the two siblings since a very early age. Eric started taking piano lessons at the request of his father at age 6, and has been playing ever since. Under the alias of DJ Finesse N Skills, Nestor has been rocking neighborhood parties since the age of 13. At age 21, he continued honing his skills by interning as an assistant engineer while his brother enlisted in the army. Coming from a family of performers, it was plain to see how productive they could be together by combining their skill set and thus Roots Life was born. They began producing demos for various groups comprised of their brothers and cousins but once Nestor began working at 78-88 studios in Queens, they rubbed shoulders with such artists as DAS EFX, Group Home, Smif ‘N’Wesson, Helta Skelta, Jeru the Damaja, Outloud of Blahzay Blah, DJ JS 1, Royce da 5’ 9, and various others. These encounters proved to be instrumental in developing their skills, their sound as well as a network of relevant players in the Hip Hop industry. Their versatility has led them producing reggae music for the likes of Junior Reid, Bigga Haitian, Biggz General and Dax Lion. With that same passion they are co-founders and play a major role in the reggae band Judah Tribe, with Eric as musical director and keyboardist and Nestor as sound engineer.
