the future of my comic.

to give a brief overview: I've lost all motivation to continue my comic, @rorys-homework-quest , and im not sure what to do.

the user-submitted commands format made the pages much easier to write, but i felt stifled creatively; it was hard to take the story where i wanted it to go, and it wasnt much fun for me or for the readers. *however*, im not sure what i would do with the story given total control of the narrative; it sounds a little overwhelming.

now that i have a digital art tablet, im also considering transferring mediums. this would help me get more practice with the tablet, and i feel i have a lot more artistic freedom on there. however, switching 10 pages in feels a bit.. sloppy? also, to be honest, i was never super happy with the art for the comic, so a fresh start might be nice.

i say all this mostly because i made this comic for *you guys*. yes, a large part of it was for me to get practice drawing my sona and learning how to work on a big project like that, but it was also because i wanted to share rory's story with you all. I'd like the comic to be as enjoyable to you all as possible, so i want you guys to decide:

what direction would you like to see the comic go in?

Distracted by his insane productivity skills (making a singular short to-do list), Rory doesn't seem to hear the sound of the front door opening or closing, or the rustle of take-out bags, or the footsteps through the house and into the kitchen.

What he does hear, however, is the unmistakable sound of one of his parents loudly declaring to the rest of the house that dinner is ready.

The sound startles him so badly that he nearly jumps out of his skin, with a sensation so powerful that it could only be properly expressed through some weird artistic experimentation and several layers of post-processing.

It's not like the author would know anything about that, though.

A few minutes after the "HomeBound fiasco," which he has already decided to call it, Rory realizes he can't afford to waste any more time. to remedy this, he goes for one of his favorite medicines for adhd-like symptoms: a to-do list. After about five minutes, he finishes the to-do list, using much more willpower, sweat, and raw concentration than any normal person would probably need.

He had gotten so caught up in the comic that he didn't even realize two hours had passed.

He quickly whips out his laptop and opens up the first page of the comic.

HomeBound is an interactive webcomic published by the Nintega corporation and created by the famous Andaru Itio in the early 2000s. it follows four kids as they explore their 80s-inspired worldworld and help the townspeople with their everyday quests.

Well, that's what it's about at first. At lunch, your friend explained that a few hundred pages into the comic, things take a turn, and the four kids begin a quest to collect the eight melodies and use them to create a new world, safe from the evil reality-warping mastermind, Lord Giygas and his minions.

The plotlines get incredibly convoluted and complex pretty quickly, even going as far as to introduce several races of aliens with their own cultural complexities and who quickly became a staple of the series and fan favorites. The comic is also infamous for its controversial fandom and outstanding lack of brevity, spanning a total of over ten thousand pages, and having a word count of five million.

It was a groundbreaking series that gained a massive cult following in the US, despite Nintega never releasing an official english translation. However, a small group of dedicated fans have fully translated it for english audiences and hosted it on their own site. Nintega, shockingly, has done nothing about it, despite being unnecesarrily strict in upholding copyright surrounding their properties. Some theorize that they somehow lost the rights to the series, while others think they are somehow profiting off of their translation and choose to stay willfully ignorant.

For a moment, he considers putting the phone down to pursue one of his favorite pastimes: the art of American Football.

Truly, it is a beautiful thing. Two teams, united in a shared goal, and yet directly opposed to each other. Each member gets dressed in tight clothes and body armor in order to enhance the experience of slapping each other around and playing with balls in the most efficient way possible while making sure to keep themselves and the other players. Big, buff, sweaty players. Truly, what could be more beautiful?

Or at least, he would go pick up a football, if he had a football. Or any football experience whatsoever. Or if he liked the sport in the slightest, which he honestly really doesn't.

He does appreciate the blatant homoeroticism of it, though. And there's a pretty great Midwest Emo band named after it, which he guesses is a plus.

> Introduce yourself!

This young man's name is Rory T. Cognomen. He is a blue and orange scaled dragon. He loves to wear false glasses, which mostly serves to accentuate his chronic dorkiness. He's currently 17, living with both of his parents and working on his junior year of high school.

If asked, he would typically describe himself as a friendly nerd with a wide variety of interests. Of these interests, the most prominent tend to be learning useless skills, making friends, science, technology, engineering, math, reading, writing, drawing, and on some occasions, even a little bit of video games.

Right now, though, he seems to be preoccupied with one of his least favorite hobbies: obsessively scrolling through social media instead of doing something productive.

Rory's Homework Quest: Page 1

A dorky, kindhearted dragon sits on the foot of his bed after a long bus ride home. He has just finished another fairly boring day of 11th grade classes, and is glad to finally be back in his bedroom. He contemplates what to do for the rest of the day.

Of course, the most obvious answer would be to start working on his english essay that he was assigned in seventh period. However, along with a myriad of other mild neurological disorders, this dragon has a fairly severe case of undiagnosed ADHD. So, that's not likely to happen right this moment.

What will this young dragon do?
