and it’s crazy because that wasn’t even what my post was about. this one is actually completely about the way fandom interacts with spoken misogyny in fiction, by regularly and extensively conflating it with repressed queerness and/or using (headcanoned) queerness as a tool to justify and excuse the overt textual misogyny. i’m not even talking about WHY the writers chose to make this guy suck about women specifically, i’m just pissed off because i keep watching “omg so gay” tv shows and movies as recommended by other queer people and it turns out the “gayness” is in fact just a man hating women

the thing about being bullied for being weird as a kid is that even if you've always embraced being weird your brain is still always looking for the line where it's too much. you can be as proudly and intentionally weird as you want and you can love being weird but your mind is still convinced there's a point where you get too weird and people start treating you like a weird looking bug again. also it feels like you reach that point 500 times a day even if everyone you've spoken to today found you pleasant and likable and even if you're completely alone in your house with nobody looking at you at all.

I hate keeping the reblogs on on my posts about feminism because TERFs love to hijack them. No, I do not believe in your bioessentialist bullshit. No, I do not think your chromosomes determine what personality you will have and your inherent capacity for evil. I am a man and I am highly critical of men, I think men are misogynistic because they are taught to be by society and I think more and more men are radicalized in feedback loops by their peers in the manosphere and down the alt-right pipeline, I do not think testosterone or their assigned gender at birth is what makes men do harm, I think that is a cop out that removes personal responsibility. It is the same ‘boys will be boys’ bullshit that got us here. I think trans men are men and I think we are capable of being misogynistic and I think it is important to hold each other accountable.

Your idea of feminism is unproductive, regressive and fundamentally useless. You will try to twist my intersectional feminism to fit within your extremely flawed and dangerous framework and you will fail. Trans women are women, trans men are men. To clarify my comment on misogynistic trans men, I do not think trans men are “more misogynistic than the general public” nor to I think trans masculine identity is rooted in misogyny, as TERFs like to insinuate. I have been a member of the trans community since I was 14, I lived through the anti-SJW era. There are some (not all, not most) trans men who pivot sharply to misogyny because we live in a patriarchal society that tells men that they are inherently better than women and they must continue to oppress women. It is something they do because many men loudly insist chauvinism is a component of male identity. Like I said, trans men are men, there is a feedback loop, misogyny is not an inherent feature.
