Sorting Hat Chats - Lion Primaries
ALRIGHT THEN @awinterrain YOU HAVE TEMPTED ME AND SO SHALL FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!!
Lion primaries, I attest, are the most complicated of the primaries. Snake primaries are easy, they love select people and will do anything for them. Badger primaries are also super easy, they love people and dehumanize people that don’t fall in their definition of people. Birds are freaking easy, they build their ideas from outside sources!
But Lions? That shit all comes from their feelings, their wants and desires. Feelings are fickle, and not always good.
There is a traditional idea of Lions, the Paragon Lions, your Harry Potters and Hermione Grangers, your Captain Kirks, your Captain Americas. These Lions are moral. They know what is right and what is wrong because they just FEEL it. They will fight for what they know is right because that’s what they want to do, which is why when they are burnt it hurts so bad. They want to fight for their causes, but they can’t and to go back on what they want is painful for them.
But that’s the thing. Wanting to fight for causes, and choosing your causes based on your feelings, is not limited to fighting for what is right. Peter Pettigrew’s (sorted by @wisteria-lodge) cause was glory and fame, he just happened to judge the Death Eaters as his best chance. Bakugou Katsuki is a Lion because his cause is to be the greatest hero of all time and win. These are Glory Hound Lions (Yes hound is super different from Lion but whatever DEAL WITH IT)
(Bakugou was literally crushed at the idea that he’d been going about things the wrong way, that his cause was wrong. He’s always been so sure of himself and his feelings that the idea that those feelings had been wrong nearly broke him.)
Lions are internal primaries, which means that the self-centered Lions look like Snakes. Both care about their wants and desires, but Snakes are more likely to care about their people more than their own goals push comes to shove.
I’d also be remised if I didn’t bring up Jack Sparrow (also sorted by wisteria), who kinda hangs out in a weird middle ground. He feels that freedom is the most important thing above all else and that everyone has a right to it. Jack Sparrow wants that horizon, his cause is just to be free, and being on the sea and being a pirate is that for him. Jack fucks up all the time, but he just revels in it because he loves being a pirate. He doesn’t want a comfortable life like a Snake might, he just wants to stand on the deck of his Pearl and get that horizon. He’s not a Glory Hound or a Paragon Lion, so I’m dubbing him a Horizon Lion.
This is a lot of word vomit, but the point is there are many different kinds of Lion primaries and they are extremely complex.
(I can’t tell if my outlook on lion primaries is jaded or not, but if it is jaded then you can definitely pin that on my burnt lion primary.)
Paragon Lions - Some things are just wrong and some are right, cause is usually protecting the world and people, look like Badgers
Glory Hound Lions - Cause is fame and glory, look like Snakes
Horizon Lions - Freedom is king, also look like snakes
