The Battle Begins | Touko & Mei
Mei sighed. She had already beaten everyone in Unova who wanted to battle her, multiple times. What was she to do? I mean, it’s not like she couldn’t leave the region, its just that she was a little scared to leave. It would be harder to see her mom and the Professor. Her mom had healed her Pokemon when she needed it and she had always counted on the Professor for friendly advice, but if she left, she wouldn’t have that anymore. She just decided for someone new to come along so she wouldn’t have to leave her beloved home.
She walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge.
She loved pickles, when she was a kid, she would get pickles from a vendor in town with her best friend. She stopped going because her friend moved to a new region. They said that they might come back someday, but they haven’t showed. She thought they were one of her only chances to battle someone new. Oh well, she thought it’s just a silly dream.
Mei slipped on her shoes and walked outside. She started for the nice cliff area where you had a great view of the mountains in the distance. She remembered when all of these stairs were so hard for her to scale, her mom had to carry her up. She chuckled at her past memories, and wished things were like they used to be.
She finally made it up the stairs, and looked up at the sky. It was full of clouds. she was enjoying cloud watch when she heard something behind her.
"One, two, one two, one two! C’mon, Emboar, just up these steps and we can take a break!" Touko swiped the back of her hand across her forehead, wiping away the beads of sweat that ran down her face. Today she had ditched her denim shorts and vest combo for running tights and an old t-shirt; she’d been inspired to get fit after running into several Battle Girls throughout her travels. Emboar, on the other hand, didn’t seem all too keen on this new trend as he struggled to keep up, his heavyset body swaying back and forth.
"Phew!" At last Touko crested the top of the stairs, legs burning and heart pumping. Emboar teetered close behind, looking almost on the brink of death (though he had always been inclined to be a bit of a drama queen). The two slowed their pace and walked over to the guardrail, admiring the view that stretched out before them.
A friendly voice broke into their moment, however, and Touko turned to see a slim girl with long pigtails. Touko smiled, taking a swig from her water bottle before speaking, still slightly short of breath from the run.
"Hey, how’s it going? Enjoying the view too, eh? It’s beautiful here; This is my first time in Aspertia City."
Mei turned around shocked to see a new face. This is it. This is my chance to battle! With no hesitation, she searched in her bag for her beloved Glaceon.
"Hey you, I challenge you to a Pokemon Battle!"
That's right, She thought, I will win!
