It's Vocaloid. They used software to make the song, same as we've been using software to make music at home for over two and a half decades. Some modern programs for doing this let you tell the software what to sing, and the vocals are made from a voice bank sourced from paid artists who signed up to make the voice bank because they wanted to. It's not fucking. Autogenerated by chatgpt or something.
I'm pointing this out because "ai" means like sixteen different things and these days if you say something is AI everyone assumes it's autogenerated dross created in the least ethical way they can think of. In this case, it just means they made a cool animation and wrote a cool song and happened to use a voice synthesiser for the song.
Alright, this is the second time I’ve seen this post, and I want to step up as the local vocal synth producer to clarify some things. Whatever software they’re using is not Vocaloid. Vocaloids have a very specific quality due to their sampling methods. And, as a result, have a very specific accent. The accent of the voice in this video does not line up with any Vocaloid at all, not without severe phoneme editing. It also sounds way too realistic for it to be any Vocaloid, not even any of the Vocaloid6 AI banks. This voice also does not line up with any Vocaloid that currently exists
But there are other software. SynthV is a common one, but the vocal quality in this is too harsh for it to have come from a SynthV bank. And, once again, there’s the accent issue. The accent of the voice used in this video fluctuates wildly from an American one to a… I can’t quite place it, but definitely closer to a non-native speaker’s accent. Vocal synth accents also tend to be on the consistent side. The voice also doesn’t line up with any other common vocal synth software like Utau, Cevio, Diffsinger, etc
Unfortunately the likely answer here is that it’s either AI, or the singer heavily auto tuned themselves. And based on watching their other videos and how inconsistent the voice is… It’s likely AI generated. Based on the singers original vocals, perhaps, but still AI
I think some people who are talking about wanting to watch/read "horror with nothing" (ie all those posts, editting profile calls, or tags from people decrying the horror genre for having HORROR staples like gore, gross imagery, jumpscares, tension, controversial topics, sex scenes, emotional terror) actually just want to watch/read media intended for adults. And they just don't know how to express that because tumblr is the site where people say "bluey and mlp and kung fu panda and all disney movie are also For Adults actually." Like yes, as an adult you can watch whatever you want, but it's normal when you're almost 30 to have a mood where you want to watch a "boring" arthouse movie no one will take their kids to see, even if it means you'll have to tolerate profoundly narratively significant sex scenes. If you don't want to experience terror or disgust but you do want to be "horrified" by characters being in a doomed scenario or by the narrative having sociopolitically commentative or cathartic elements, you DON'T want to watch horror. You just want to watch media for adults.
