"I know today is Thursday, but a question has just come to me - why do people, tongue-in-cheekly I hope, call Sunday 'Sinday' when it comes to lascivious matters? There's nothing sinful about them, and I don't think I'd want to know anyone who sincerely believes that."
Rose may have been deep within the cavern to tend to the Carbink on Mother's Day, but that doesn't mean that she's out of reach for a certain someone.
In a corner of the cave and at the cracks of rocks, some small amounts of grass suddenly started to grow. Then, at the center of the small patch, there was a Gracidea that quickly grew to be fully formed. That's strange. Flowers shouldn't grow this far down, let alone flourish like this.
Oh? Whatever were a good number of the Carbink suddenly crowding around? It was highly unusual for their attention to be so abruptly captured - well, by anything but their princess's return to her domain.
"Excuse me... make way, please... pardon me..."
Said princess gradually made her way through the flock of her subjects, and when she saw the flower that had captivated them so... her brow furrowed in confusion, initially.
I haven't seen anyone whose domain is flowers recently, have I? Or any other plant life...?
...
Wait. Plant life-
Rose's confusion immediately gave way to a delighted grin.
Oh, maman, it's beautiful. I'm definitely going to have to treat her to a nice meal, the next chance I have.
A quiet birthday. That's fine. They needn't all be filled with pomp and circumstance.
Over eight thousand down.
Billions more to go.

I could list reasons why, but does it matter? I have plenty of inspiration for the local diamond princess, but it all evaporates as soon as I look at my dash, so. hm. long hiatus at bare minimum.
"Joyeux Noël, mes amis. May you all be comfortable and loved, however you observe the holiday. However you don't observe it, as well."
Oop. Looks like they struck a nerve. Both Heidi and Vivienne froze as Rose snapped at them. It would make a lot of sense that Rose would take this so poorly. This was made even worse when it was clear that she didn't even know that Izanami was alive.
"...Sorry. We should have been more considerate. In my time, it's something that Zinnia and I look back and laugh about, but that's because it's been eons since it's happened." Though, considering that Rose didn't even know about Izanami, it made some sense.
"And, yes, Mother has returned. She... reincarnated as the World Cleanser's daughter... which means that, yes, the Golden Arceus has also come to life." Rose... has missed a lot, hasn't she? "She can even make multiple copies of herself according to Heidi. I even spotted one walking with Diantha a few days ago."
Heidi nodded... but then blinked. "Well, you have your phone, right?" ...Then, she paused. "You did make her that phone, right?"
"Uh..." Vivienne blinked. "...what phone?"
"...Oh you've got to be—" Heidi looked disappointed. "Vivi. You're telling me that you just let your daughter down and deep in that cave and didn't even bother consider getting her a phone that can have service down there so she can keep in touch with the family?"
"I... uh...." Vivienne paused. "Ohhhhh, maybe that's what I was in the Department store for...."
"At the department—"
The former dragon turned full Arceus and glared directly into Vivienne's soul. "Vivienne.... I KNOW that Present-Day Latias-me and you TALKED about this by now, y'know, as a thank you gift. Swear I'm gonna shove an Unown in your phone to have the network track your fucking forgetfulness." Why is Vivienne like this?
"Eep!" Good to know that Heidi still has the capacity to spook the living daylights out of her. Does she know that Heidi won't hurt her? Yes, but it's still a stark difference from her normal self. "I'm sorry!"
"It's not me you should be apologizing to, Vivi...." Heidi sighed. "Knew I should've asked Rayquaza to get the damn phone."
Vivienne bowed at Rose. "I uh... yes. We were planning on giving you a device to keep in touch. I was supposed to order you a phone and Heidi would modify it to ensure that you had signal, but... I... forgot. My deepest apologies."
Heidi returned to her Heidi form. "Since the Skitty's out of the bag now, I can summon Ghost and make a phone for you that can communicate between dimensions, even when you're deep in the cavern. How's that sound?"
Rose listened, silently and rather unamusedly, as Heidi and Vivienne went back and forth. She did try to get a word in edgewise here and there, but largely failed until Heidi finally asked her what she thought. And oh, she had some thoughts to lay out.
"Okay. Well." Rose closed her eyes, and a sigh escaped her lips, before she reopened them to look at Vivienne first. "I'm not going to lie, maman, between this and the fact you've never paid my subterranean domain a visit, it... kind of hurts, being repeatedly forgotten about like that. I know you certainly don't mean to, or this conversation... well, obviously, if this was intentional I wouldn't be here at all, but— anyway. Please do better."
Her gaze flicked over, now aimed at Heidi. "As for you, I'm not sure who 'Ghost' is supposed to be? But, um, a transdimensional phone sounds good. Understatement of the year, that," she mumbled to herself at the end.
"As a matter of fact... I've been thinking, lately, about what I can do beyond just being a princess. I think I've arrived at an answer, too. Being from the unfathomably far future, Heidi, I've no doubt this'll sound familiar in some sense to you, but I'd like a phone that can store pictures and recordings." Unbeknownst to her, of course, that was more or less every phone in existence these days. "I think I want to become a... chronicler of sorts? To document life throughout the eons I am to live through, anyway. I think it would be nice to see a treasured friend's face now and then, even after millennia upon millennia. And... so that perhaps, in another three thousand years, humanity doesn't once again go searching for a dreaded Weapon to solve some problem or another. We seriously do not need a cycle established."

Blog Meta 2: Prim Princess's Personality
oh you thought there'd be like a few hours in between meta posts, then it'd be like a little callback— nope, immediate second beat
I've been thinking that Rose's overall personality might be perhaps a little... bland? Uninteresting? She's just sort of Generically Nice™ most of the time (albeit with a side of teasing, flirtatiousness, or a combination thereof), I think... But, I couldn't find any particular direction I wanted to take her in.
And then, enter Legends Z-A. Or, more specifically, enter Jacinthe. My beloved. My fucked up faerie queen. i need her to put me in a maid outfit immediately and unlike Lebanne i'd actually be 100% willing
But seriously, Jacinthe got me thinking. A lot of people out there love her, whether in spite of her flaws or because of them (meeeeee)! And I realized... well, the inherent angst of true immortality aside, Rose doesn't really have many flaws, does she? She loses track of time easily (what's a year when you've already put over eight thousand of them behind you?), but that's really about it.
So! Rose is still going to remain generally nice and polite and horribly out of touch with modern technology, but this girl needs a notable flaw or two so she isn't just An Unchallengingly-Generically-Nice Royal to "Challenge" the Modern View of Royalty as Evil, Selfish Bastards.
She is a princess. She is served by loyal and devoted subjects, and has been for a bit over three thousand years now. She is used to being obeyed. She can tolerate minor pushback to the occasional idea, but she will start losing her patience fairly quickly if her requests are ignored or continually argued against. It'll be much faster if it's a direct order, but she at least has the sense to know she can't really just order people around. People aren't her Carbink, it turns out.
She's also spent far longer as a Pokemon than she has as a human. While she's long held an interest in humanity, and studied how their societies function, it's always been from the outside. She's fairly out of touch in some aspects. What those are can be elaborated upon with time, as I don't have them entirely nailed down, but they'll be fun to develop, I hope!
Lastly... she loathes the idea of people going around catching Carbink. They're meant to be her subjects free. And she is no stranger to outright hatred, or killing other Pokemon - just ask her about Sableye sometime.
Blog Meta 1: The Resurrection of Rosaline
hello and welcome to Blog Meta™, the series where I ooc-ly discuss the blog and the direction I want it to go
I would put this under a read more but nah actually, suffer through my rambling :)
So, to actually begin the conversation in earnest, for a long time I've been fairly unsatisfied with the way Rose came back to life and was turned into a Diancie. The basics were there - AZ, the resurrection flower before he turned it into the Weapon that would end the war, and the end of Rose's life as a Carbink, underground... but I hadn't had an answer for how the flower would have targeted more than just Floette.
Enter the new concept I've workshopped with the author of everyone's third-favorite cinematic universe (<3 you Skye):
A structure as massive as the flower of resurrection would need a foundation to help secure it in place, right? So what if this 'flower' also had 'roots,' extending deep into the earth? So when the then-unnamed Carbink was looking for a place far from her leaderless pack to fall into eternal sleep, she chose a spot right next to a huge, beautiful crystal that reminded her of home?
She died beside one of the flower's roots, and when it came time to return Floette to her never-ending life, the flower detected another dead fairy within its range, and had enough energy to discharge to them both.
guess who both has Z-A now and is, relatedly, plotting some exquisite bullshit

"Alright. Let me change."
Almost immediately, Heidi changed her appearance to look like a blonde woman. There was some small resemblance to Friede, though it was clear that the person seemed a little young to fully be a spitting image. "This is what she looks like. Cute, right?"
"I'd say." Vivienne chuckled. "It seems that Friede has a pattern of creating cute children. Good to know that Mother was not a fluke."
"... well, that and Izanami always picks her appearances well... but enough about her."
Heidi listened to Rose's confusion about Zinnia's status. "So, you don't know about what happened to Zinnia yet? I guess that makes sense since you just got home." Otherwise, Heidi would have scolded Vivienne. "Zinnia's.... No longer human. She was shot some months ago by a member of Team Rainbow Rocket. Would've died too had it not been for Tsukuyomi happening to visit and taking her to see Izanami. Izanami saved her life, but... her soul was too draconic and feral to maintain a new body, and, thus, she transformed into a Shiny Rayquaza."
"Rayquaza's been over the moon about this new development ever since he could show his emotions on the matter." Vivienne giggled. It seems that Vivienne has spoken to Rayquaza since the incident. "He's doing what he can to support her, but he also struggles with hiding his excitement for having a child of his species."
"Well, that's because he's an old noodle that is obsessed with family. You know how he gets." Heidi chuckled.
"I know. I know."
Heidi turned back to Rose. "So, yeah. This means that you'll be seeing Zinnia for a lot longer than you originally thought... and you'll see just how great of a Rayquaza she'll turn out to be, too. I can't be more proud of her."
Well, other than Zinnia's feralness but that's just a Zinnia thing.
"Très mignonne," Rose agreed, nodding a little as she spoke. In fact, she had the start of an idea coming to her concerning this Malenia, but that very definitely got shoved to the side when Heidi started explaining what was going on with Zinnia. Now, she was fully silent, her earlier confusion now replaced with a frown. In it, she carried both concern and anger - but the latter won out when it seemed neither Heidi nor Vivienne were particularly concerned about the whole deal.
"Oh. Well. I'm glad this is apparently such a trivial development that you two can laugh about it," she snapped, before taking a moment (and heaving a sharp, irritated sigh) to try to put her thoughts to words. "Okay. Sorry, let me back up a bit... Zinnia was shot. Almost fatally, were it not for... whoever this Tsukiyomi is. Not important right now. And you're telling me, not only is Izanami a-fucking-pparently somehow alive again, but she had to turn Zinnia into another Rayquaza to keep her alive. And no one thought to tell me any of this sooner. Alright. Great."
Perhaps she was taking this worse than she would have if her Carbink hadn't already driven her up the metaphorical wall, but... well, Rose was by necessity a patient woman, but this would certainly be enough to try that patience. Even on a good day.
"...I really need some way to stay in touch with the family, if no one's going to be visiting my domain."
"Malenia's basically... somewhere between my baby sister and my daughter, really." Heidi couldn't help but smile. "You remember hearing about Friede, my All-Mother, right? Well, much, much later in the future, even longer past the eventual end of this world, she has a daughter that's a Shiny Arceus, and who takes the mantle of her mama's legacy... although, sadly, she's been an orphan for as long as she's been alive. My partner at the time and I took her in and raised her. She's a real sweetheart and has both a heart of gold and is incredibly mature for her age... and she wants to take on her mother's legacy in her own way, too."
"The World Cleanser creating a successor before departing from this world forever.... Now, that's something that I had not expected." Although that made her want to question about Izanami's role in this, but one thing at a time. "Nonetheless, how does she plan to move that legacy, if I may ask?"
"Well, she wants to be a hero one day... to save and help people and do great things... but, from my perspective, she already is one ever since she brought back my home world. She brought everything back to where it was before Friede started to spiral... with a few key changes to make the place truly a place where humans, Pokémon, and Legendary and Mythical Pokémon can thrive. Even Zinnia lives with us now... though she doesn't live in the main city unlike me."
Heidi turned to Rose. "If you want, I can show you what she looks like by transforming! She's a real cutie."
Rose listened mostly silently, save for an occasional mhm. At the end, that was... a fair bit to take in. Pressingly...
"Wait. I mean, yes you can show me what Malenia looks like, but - Zinnia? As in, Rayquaza's Lorekeeper, Zinnia?" Rose's brow furrowed in confusion. "But... she's a human. What's she doing that far into the future? The only way I could see that happening is..."
She trailed off, but a glance at Vivienne made clear what she was thinking of. It seemed the princess was quite out of the loop, as far as the current state of affairs went...
"...There's something I'm missing, isn't there?"
Hm.
She really shouldn't.
But it looks so tasty.
...
The intrusive thoughts win, and she tries her damnedest to take a bite out of a nearby stalagmite.
Somehow, after an absolutely undignified effort, she... succeeds. Not something she's going to make a habit out of, but a Rock-type eating a rock just fits.

hell is the few seconds between posting a reply and trimming the old one
"Professionalism is a human-made concept, I am afraid." Vivienne empathized with Rose. "I trust that they will be alright while you are away."
"Yeah." Heidi nodded. "Heh, though honestly we've seen worlds where the Legendary Pokémon are like that with their Arceus. You'd be surprised just how burned out that Arceus would be. I even had to convince one out of destroying their world and starting over. It was... not easy."
Vivienne nodded. "At least you are home now, deer. It should give you the time and space to relax."
Heidi agreed. She took a sip of her tea. "Anyway, let me change to get more comfortable." Heidi snapped her fingers, causing her to change into a form that more closely resembled the Arceus form of the Heidi that Rose was familiar with.
"Oh, I don't have to worry that my telling you is going to affect your fate in this particular case. It won't change the circumstances around either of your decisions nor your fates. Minor changes may happen, but I'm so far into the future that those changes don't affect the overall outcome of your and my lives, even if I wanted to." She sighed. "Although, it would be nice if I could change things. Malenia would have loved to meet all of you."
"I'm not too sure I would be surprised at an Arceus's burnout, really." And that was all she had to say about that - she had come here to get away from thinking about her Carbink, after all, not continue to talk about them.
"But, setting all of that aside... Malenia? Might I ask who that is? Or perhaps, will be? You've piqued my interest, I admit." Maybe it was set in metaphorical stone that she would never meet this Malenia, but a look into a future she'd never see couldn't hurt, right?
